First time visitor. We were headed to a burger place for a late lunch and it was closed. Saw Torchy's and noted a fair amount of customers. Surely this must mean good eats, right? Right!! These are above average tacos folks. Tried the Fried Avocado, the Green Chili Pork and the Beef Fajita...plus chips and queso. All were excellent with different yummy sauces. Did not try any alcoholic beverages, but the sweet tea on tap was just right! It's casual, there's a bar, outside seating and service with a smile. We have been coming to this location for years now and consistently had good tacos and queso here. It is a reliably delicious place! I rarely stray from my trashy trailer park selection. There's no social distancing, they discontinued curb side pick up. There's way more than 25% people in here. I placed a phone order for pick up. When I arrived they took down the parking spots for curbside pick up. I called and asked if I could have it delivered to my vehicle, they said I have to come inside and wait in line. I've seen 60 people enter and there are easily 100 people in here right now. As I stood in line for 20 minutes, pick up was placed at 11am for a pick up time of 12:30pm May 5th, I finally got to the counter and my food wasn't ready or even made. So now I'm stuck in the main dining area with someone at every table. I even had someone almost leaning against me, I told them "EXCUSE ME". WHO MANAGES THIS PLACE? With only two ordering points, the line moves surprisingly fast, but you'll wait a bit when it comes to finding an open seat (inside) and getting your food in a decent amount of time. After 25 minutes, we finally received our order; however, there were a few tacos missing. The runner was super apologetic, though, and made every effort to get them quickly (and made correctly!). Everything was fresh and hot, so no complaints there. No matter the location, I'm always impressed with the chips and guacamole. The salsa is on point, as well. It was impossible to social distance, and no alternative was offered rather than waiting inside while they screamed your name to tell you that their order was ready. Almost every other restaurant is offering curbside pickup and all that we have tried have had orders ready on time, but not Torchy's. The sad part is that the food was their normal, good quality. I think I overhyped it for myself, maybe since I have not been to a torcheys in about a year. Came here on Halloween, 4 of us, around 5pm. It wasn't crowded at all, and there wasn't much noise. Not sure if the cashier was just flustered or what. One person says queso, one person says salsa. I think she made it too hard on herself by asking do you want a side of salsa? We get our food and guess what... No queso. I go back up there and ask and she said oh I thought someone said no queso. Bout the only reason I like torcheys. So instead of courtesy free queso, something most places would do, I just made another payment. I had a fajita taco, meat was pretty dry, and a trailer park. Both tacos were lukewarm. They've moved up from a 1 to 2 star review. A 100% decrease in suckage! Sort of. At least it was really clean this time? Wife ordered a Trailer Park Trashy. Her taco was cold. I ordered a Democrat in a bowl & Turkey Mole in a bowl. The portion sizes were fair, however the Democrat was cold, and the Turkey Mole lukewarm. The turkey was dry as a popcorn fart, and the shredded beef wasn't moist alongside having a crunchy crust. These issues tied with my wife's cold taco and the time it took to come suggest it was floundering under an insufficient heat lamp too long. They go from a messy dumpster fire, to a clean but unappetizing menu. I can count 1 out of 4 of my most recent experiences here being any good. Another Taco spot in Dallas! I love the variety this place has, in fact the menu can be a little overwhelming. This particular Torchys has a bar and had the NFL games playing, great for a Sunday brunch! Ps the bloody marys here were not that great :( My buddy and I got 8 different tacos and split each one. To be honest we really only enjoyed the BAJA SHRIMP. Most of the tacos lacked flavor, too salty, or had too much going on. I love the concept, love the wide range of ingredients. But i feel Torchys are "biting more then they can chew". Rather then having 30 things on their menu, they should focus on the few things they do really well, and few tacos that are really good. Sometimes too many options can be a bad thing. And ps we all love liquor but do you really need a full bar here. Yesterday, had the taco of the month called Tokyo drifter and it was just amazing! The pork was soft fully of flavour from the sauces - just the right amount of sweet, sour and spice. There was also some crunch inside the taco which was an awesome surprise. I hope they will make this a regular taco on their menu. The other tacos we tried were the brushfire, baja shrimp, and chicken fajita. They were good too, except the the cheese in the fajita wasnt so great. Not quite velvet, but way closer to work and still solid tacos. They don't skimp on meat or filling and they have a variety of options. Personal favorites are the crossroads and brush fire. The fajita chicken is also a solid option, I like to add a little diablo sauce to it. Be warned the diablo sauce doesn't mess around, but the flavor is excellent. Street corn is also a solid choice, though it is less creamy and more Smokey than velvet taco. The green chili queso is another must order if you're not doing corn. The chips are just right on thickness and consistency, though they give you enough queso you may have to ask for extra chips. Not only were the flavors on point, from their protein to their pickled onions, but they also gave you a choice between corn and flour tortilla! Thank goodness cuz, growing up in Los Angeles, I don't do flour tortilla, feel me? Their portions are huge, so 3 tacos were more than enough for me. Their sodas threw me off, because I believe they were the "healthier" versions...cane sugar, less sugar...something to that effect. I don't care for it, because I've noticed that they have less carbonation as well. No matter... My favorite thing there was their queso dip! HOLY SHIETTTT!!
