We ordered from the South Arlington location Thursday night and tonight. Spent around $80 each time. Usually everything is good but these last two times were not good. My sister has a SEVERE gluten and dairy allergy, and I cannot stress enough how severe it is, we simply asked for their avacado and Baja shrimp tacos without cheese and sauce. Both times they failed to do so. Additionally they didn't label the tacos at all so we had to open all the tacos to identify. Stopped by their relatively new location for breakfast. Had to see what all the fuss was about, having never sampled Torchy's Tacos. The decor is definitely hipster-esque and has a bar that is probably much more lively after work in the evening hours. The tacos were decent but nothing to write home about. They were your pretty basic scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, and potato or chorizo breakfast tacos. The portions were pretty decent size. Their salsa was not nearly as hot as they claim and the flour tortillas seemed generic mass produced in a factory and tasted store-bought. On the plus side, the portions were much better then some of their competitors, but many of their competitors have much better homemade tasting flour tortillas. If one could combine the two, you'd be onto something. Service was not lightning quick. In fact it was a tad slow considering the place was almost empty. It's worth a visit, but it definitely does not live up to the hype and it definitely did not exceed my expectations. read more

The worst Torchy's location I have ever experienced. One bite of a cold shrimp taco in which the shrimp tasted spoiled was enough. I asked for my money back and it's something I never do. Brushfire: jerk chicken, mango, jalapeños, sour cream & cilantro. Very spicy but well worth it. The mango helps it balance out. Well what can I say about this place... Not too bad but not all that either. The restaurant has plenty of space, but omg this place is always busy. Waiting in line for 20-30 min on weekdays and a bit more on weekends. I know that's the new place in the Arlington highlands but it's not that good. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad place at all just not for me. I would come back again but not the place that I will pick or crave. I just really like Torchy's Tacos.... They have great Tacos of many varieties. I had their Baja Shrimp, and there taco of the month, "Rebel Yell", that has grilled shrimp, fried onion, cilantro, grilled pineapple, cabbage slaw, barb q sauce, chipotle sauce and , but since I don't eat pork I got it without! I am a huge fan. Everything is cooked fresh to order, so it's always worth the wait. The queso is good, but honestly it's just a bit too spicy. Excellent! I started eating at Torchy's while in college in Austin years ago. I've been to various locations of Torchy's in the DFW metroplex since. Ask for the secret menu! I am always surprised when people don't know that Torchy's has a secret menu. I always get their queso. It's my favorite queso anywhere. I like how there's a hint of spicy. I also always get their Baja Shrimp taco. I tried it with both corn and flour tortilla, but I prefer it with the flour. So delicious!! They also have a specialty taco of the month. I've tried a couple here and there, and they are usually very tasty. I used to always get their Dirty Sanchez and Democrat. I got tired of getting the same thing over and over, but those are still solid. If you like spicy, get the Brushfire. It hurt my mouth so badly! I had such a hard time finishing that taco. It's a Wednesday night and it's early. We arrived and sat at the bar and there was no bartender in site so we ordered our drinks through the front of the house. Our food was delivered by a manger and he noticed we haven't been served drinks yet so he proceeds to apologize and make our drinks which was so incredible. But I'm still slightly irritated that we haven't seen the bartender and now we're sitting at 20 minutes. Then as soon as someone new sat at the bar she crawled out of whatever hole she was hiding in and provided them with exceptionally quick service. My $10 marg is empty by this point and I'd like to order another. But sadly she continues to overlook us. Then another couple comes in and again she comes out and rushes their drinks. I came to Torchy's from my friend's praise of the restaurant. I decided to order The Democrat and the queso & chips. It was a pleasant treat. When I arrived, the place was packed, what I expected out of a month old establishment. It took about 20 minutes for my order to be taken, then another 10 minutes for my food to arrive. The queso dip was absolutely amazing, it had green chile on the bottom and tasted better than any queso I've ever tried. I do think it was a little pricey, however (about $5) but it was well worth it. My taco came ($4) with Barbacoa, onions, cotija cheese (or Parmesan I don't know), avocado, and green onions. This was my first visit and it was awesome. I went to the bar and asked for a menu. They also have a secret menu if you ask for it. I ended up getting the green Chile pork taco and the brisket taco. Oh my, the were delish. Got them with corn tortillas. You have to ask. Add the salsa they give you in tiny containers. I asked about the queso, which was $5.75. The bartender said I could get a half order because I felt like the full order was too much for one person. Holy crap that was some great queso. Don't believe the hype. I was visiting the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the first time and was excited to try some of the local hot spots. I heard about Torchy's and thought it would be a good introductory meal. I got the bacon egg cheese, chorizo egg cheese, black bean, and some sort of fried chicken one. I was not impressed in the slightest. They were all average to below average and wouldn't crack my top 50 tacos list.
