You really can't beat Tops! Nothing fancy, just great "comfort" food at an extremely low price. A Memphis treasure.

I decided to get this Tops BBQ location on the go on August 8th, 2024. So far out of all the Tops BBQ locations that I have been to this location is probably the cleanest. You will notice how clean the place is when walk inside the restaurant. The red paint shines brightly at me. I decided to get the pulled chicken nachos. Horrible experience. The nachos were abysmal, and we had to go around the drive through line twice because our online order "wasn't ready," and the worker told us it would be 5 minutes and to come inside, but we got a notification that it was ready right after we pulled off. We get back in line, and 10 long minutes later, we got this monstrosity (was supposed to be my whole meal btw), with enough cheese and sauce in total for one single chip, and the worst meat I've seen. I ate a few bites and the chips were stale too. I pulled out the chips that were bare, and it's safe to say you have lost a once very loyal customer. Do better. read more

I was told that this restaurant has good loaded fries. So I decided to try them out. On my loaded fries, I had lettuce, tomatoes onions, nacho cheese, and shredded chicken. To give you a heads up, Their loaded fries originally comes with baked beans so I told them to hold the beans. The loaded fries also came with a little sweet BBQ sauce that gave it a different taste. Their customer service was good, with fast service. They have other items that I would like to try out. So I will be back in the future. read more

Portions of meat on BBQ nachos is weak. I mentioned it to management and they said "that's how they come". 90% chips. Will not return.

Says on the door the inside is open till 10 but they of course close the inside early because they are lazy and don't care about taking care of people especially DoorDash employees very disappointed read more

Past two Saturdays my wife and I have had Tops breakfast sandwiches and they have both been ,respectfully, sinfully good. I got the waffle breakfast stack and she got the sausage egg and cheese breaky sandy and it was all so delicious. sandy's so good they'll leave you fat and sassy as mama used to say. service for the togo line is good too. the ladies at the menu and the window are always nice. great place to stop in. read more

Today was the shortest that I've seen the line. Lol with only three cars in line I was ready to go to the drive-thru which I did. I ordered two jumbo combos both with double fries and double barbecue beans with two sweet teas. A jumbo sandwich is pork shoulder with sauce (you can have coleslaw added or not) I always get a jumbo sandwich with extra barbecue sauce and coleslaw I would've given 5 stars however after I opened the second bag it was missing barbecue beans (gosh,where's my beans) Note: if you've never had they're barbecue beans it's quite tasty and has bits of chopped pork in it Other than that everything was tasty! I was excited to see a new Tops location open in the area. As a self-proclaimed burger snob, the Tops cheeseburger has been on my burger bucket list for years. Since this was my first time at Tops, I decided to splurge and order the Double Cheeseburger. I ordered mine plain with only cheese. First, this sandwich is deceivingly big. The bun was squished a bit in the bag, so the two large quarter-pound beef patties stole the show. The burger was VERY salty, which is not something I usually pick up on. But the seasoning overall accentuated the beef well. I would have liked an extra slice of cheese to offset the beefiness of each bite, but that wasn't a major issue. Overall, it was a solid burger. The side of crinkle-cut fries made a great accompaniment to the burger. They held their crispiness well in the bag -- no sogginess at all. The interior was spotless with plenty of room for social distancing while waiting on carry-out orders (no dine-in at this time). All of the employees were friendly and efficient. I ordered and had my food in less than 10 minutes. If you're in a rush, I recommend calling in your order or placing an online order for pickup, as the drive-thru line can get pretty long during peak periods. read more

Yesterday evening was my first experience at Tops Bar-B-Q and it was amazing! I had a terrible experience at another restaurant and needed to grab dinner for the night and a friend recommended Tops! The employees were kind and friendly! They gave great recommendations and I loved my brisket nachos over fries. I can't wait to return and try something new off the menu! We went here for lunch today. When you only have an hour and have to wait about 5 minutes for someone to take your order, makes you sorry you picked Tops. Not just the wait. The two women working the drive- thru didn't even say anything. They could have said someone will be with soon. I guess customer service is a thing of the past. sThis latest franchise of Tops took over this building from a beloved custard stand so we had mixed feelings about trying it. Tops has never been in my top 10 of local BBQ ribs, but we decided to spend a little of our stimi there recently! It was better than a place I'd tried in Jackson recently (see my recent reviews), but it still doesn't crack the top 10. If you're traveling to Memphis, take note of the reviews. We lucked into a time just before lunch on a Monday where we were 2nd in line - a rarity I believe, as it's been packed since opening. Not sure if this was a fluke or long-term trend. My wife is a native Memphian and I have lived here for almost 26 years. Tops is, by far, our favorite fast-food Memphis BBQ in the city. We were excited to see this location pop up because it was a new design, very big and modern looking. It took us some time to stop because, as a new restaurant, it was always covered over. Our first attempt was aborted because the lady behind the counter was so rude we walked out. It took over a year and a serious crave for Tops for us to get over that experience and walk in again. We poked our heads in to look for Lady Rude and when we saw the coast was clear we stepped across the threshold. To our delight, they have installed a kiosk where a customer can order and customize whatever they want and they don't have to endure rude employees at all! :-) I don't know what rude and lazy people are going to do when they've all been replaced by kiosks! So, we crafted what we thought was a crave-killer order and walked into the main dining room to find a place to sit. As is typical for a lot of Memphis quick-service restaurants, it was a little difficult to find a clear and clean table. Strike one. We couldn't find a totally clean one, but we found a "close enough" spot, grabbed a handful napkins and water and did the campground picnic table wash and sat down to wait for our food. We ordered a jumbo chopped pork sandwich and a smoked chicken sandwich with beans for both. The smoked chicken, which had a special white sauce on it, was delicious. The BBQ pork was typical Tops and good enough. The beans were lukewarm, at best, but tasty. The buns though. Oh, the buns! Both of us commented on the weirdness of the buns as we were eating but it wasn't until we left and were talking about the experience that we both landed on what was wrong. They were dry and crumbly-ish. I don't know if they were expired or just a bad batch of bread, but they were not good, texture-wise. I don't know if we will go back to this location, but I'm not rushing to do so any time soon. I think I'll have to wait for that craving to hit while I'm in close proximity for that to happen. However, if the Sycamore View location happens to be just a little farther, I'll burn the gas and go there. I've never been disappointed by that location! read more

I've always loved Tops burgers & their bbq was decent for the value, but the Bartlett location should be shut down. I've stopped going there because every time I've visited, the food has been outright disgusting & you'd get better service at the Penal Farm. Doesn't matter if it's drive through, dine-in, or curbside. If you order from this location, you're going to be disappointed. The experience from start to finish was a bad one. The cashier was rushing us to order our food when we arrived at 8:30. We had no intention of staying in the restaurant so him rushing us confused me. My turkey burger was so dark that I was afraid to bite it due to a beef allergy. The young lady took the sandwich back to show it to another co-worker through the window and tried to give it back. I asked for it to be remade cause the sandwich was out of my sight and didn't know who may have touched it to figure out if ot was beef or turkey. After hearing the way they talked about another customer, I was afraid to allow them to recook my food so I just requested a refund. I'm unsure if I will ever go to this location again. I have severe food allergies and I do not want to ever be sick due to a simple food mix up. The food tasted alright, and the price was reasonable, but the whole experience was offset by how dirty the restaurant dining room was. Thank the Lord Kaytie was able to make it to work safely today! One of the only places in Memphis open during the snowpocalypse. We ordered food for our entire staff - enough to feed 40. She was able to get that ready to go in 20 minutes. LIFESAVER! If working alone isn't enough, she did it with a smile and good attitude - ALL WHILE having a full crowd in the store. Never again, and I'm going to tell everyone I know about what a sorry place this is. Since new ownership, Top's has gone down hill rapidly. The service is rude and disgustingly hateful. I've been eating Tops for practically most of my life and I'm 50. This visit was not up to par. It took nearly 30 minutes to get through the drive-thru line. And once I paid, the order was not right. They left a pork shoulder plate off somehow, which is strange since I had to repeat the two sides twice. Once I got to the house I immediately saw that my "jumbo" sandwich was definitely not a jumbo. It was nothing like what I'm used to. Also, the fries were cold, not slightly warm, but cold. We weren't very happy. The food is as good as any Tops Bar-B-Q in town so no surprise there. All in all a decent place to stop in and get some Memphis BBQ if you're in Bartlett. If you go here and don't ask for barbecue sauce, you will not get any sauce. Not even the packs of sauce. Apparently the manage, and I quote him , doesn't want employees wasting packs of sauce on customers because the may throw it away. So I will not visit that tops again. We may have lost Sheridans at this location, but getting Tops is a major bonus! Driving by and seeing that empty location was depressing...then the sign went up announcing Tops. They did a great job improving the location and, as always, the food is incredible.
