I've seen the bags of coffee at Whole Foods but I hadn't ever gotten to visit the Tulsa-based coffee shop until now. Opening the heavy wooden door with glass panes trimmed in gold, I can't recall if there was old fashioned bell that rang, but in my memory it rings as we walk into a world which emulates a West Village coffee shop experience in NYC. Greeted by a sophisticated white tile beneath my feet, walls draped in black paint and finishes of gold everywhere, my senses this being an Oklahoma business were challenged in every way. The sweet smell of coffee envelopes the air, an older gentleman sitting at the bar, reading his paper with his papillion dog content as can be sleeping on the corner bar stool next to him. This isn't your classic Oklahoma coffee house experience. It's a treat for the senses. A place for your imagination to be set free. Are we in Oklahoma? Or had we walked through a portal to some other far away city? This experience, in the moment I walked through the door, was so much more of everything than I had imagined it would be, in the best possible way. The coffee experience was a delight, in no small part to smiling and kind mustached barista pair. They were happy to help guide us through the menu and orient us to their world, this glorious Topeca coffee world filled with 9 bars, automated pour overs, and flat whites. We ordered pour overs and sat at a marbled table top table near the back and waited. We waited and took this new to us world in. The coffee experience was perfection, just as I had hoped. In no future of mine will I not visit this place again. It's just so special. I can't wait to return. January 2023

Lavender latte and pan au chocolate!

Delicious pastries. Excellent coffee. Super friendly staff! Grab a seat and enjoy! I had a lavender latte with almond milk and a fresh chocolate croissant and loved them both! Lots of space to meet up with a friend as well.

Visiting Tulsa this week on business and needed a cup of coffee to start my day. Topeka has three Tulsa locations, including one in the downtown Deco district inside the beautiful, historic Philcade building. Topeca is one of the first "Farm to Cafe" coffee companies in the world by establishing mills in El Salvador and partially owning a third in Brazil to process and export their own coffee. Topeca is also committed to purchasing only fully traceable coffees and ensuring fair pay for partnering producers. Topeca is a bright and welcoming space and has an older subway station feel. The baristas are warm and provide great customer service. By the way, my Americano was delicious and the pastries also looked tasty!

Okay, this is such a cool coffee shop. It gave me an old bar/subway feel. Moody colors, but bright and welcoming. There were a few people working on their laptops. We popped in for a coffee before our road trip, and the clientele did not appreciate adorable toddlers' laughter. I feel sorry for them. The barista was so friendly and was funny. The coffee tastes great! I got a latte with 2 sugar in the raw packets added. The shop connects to this beautiful old building. It was fun to wander in its echo hallways, brass elevators, and bright chandeliers. I would definitely come back.

This is a really cute place to have a quick coffee. My family and I are visiting from out of town and I found this place on yelp. I was not disappointed because this place is great! The atmosphere is really quiet and laid back and the baristas are very helpful. In terms of pricing, it actually is cheaper than most coffee places and the menu has all the basic coffee essentials. If I lived in Tulsa, I would probably become a regular at this coffee place because it also seems like a great place to read a book, study, or work and is conveniently located in the downtown area. I ordered the lavender latte and my boyfriend ordered the mocha. The mocha was not too sweet and is perfect for people who aren't into sweet mochas. The lavender latte was also a delight to drink. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Mulled Apple Cider

Loved this place. It's tiny and has a great Art Deco vibe. It was a chilly day so I got the hot mulled apple cider off their winter specials since I wasn't in the mood for coffee. The staff was excellent and friendly. My only complaint is the location. It's inside the Philcade building which is a cool holding and I'm sure is really convenient when you work in that area but parking in Downtown Tulsa is a nightmare during the week and getting there when you just want to pop in for something warm is a challenge. I'll definitely keep it in mind next time I'm in that area though.

Just stopped in to pick up coffee. These are new digs? (We actually went to the Mayo first. Our mistake....) Extremely clean interior and I would love to hang out here. In fact, we were just commenting that we need to explore downtown Tulsa more.

Most bomb coffee shop! You won't get bells and whistles but will get a true barista experience. These folks really care about quality, and it shows by their productions. They make the best lavender latte with quality ingredients. The lavender tastes fresh and is carefully selected. I hope to try their cold brew and nitro soon. But currently I'm hooked on this gem! Check them out at their new location across from Elote.

#fatjared say...This is a great place to go, but expect to wait, and not have much room to sit down. For a local coffee shop to be placed in the middle of downtown is no easy feet. I get that. But the inside here is tight. You have to wait out in the hall, and while the orders come out fairly quick, it is still a pain to have to maneuver your way through everyone. Topeca is known around Tulsa because you see their coffee everywhere. I was really excited to come here and try it from the local spot. It did not disappoint in any way. Their cold brew was amazing. 1 small complaint I have on it though, was that the people working didn't know what coffee I was actually drinking?? They said sometimes they make it a free for all and just use a bunch of mixes of coffee in it, or sometimes it is a regular roast of theirs. At a coffee shop especially, I want to know what I am drinking so I can try to pick up on flavors. I get they were busy, but they didn't make an effort to see what I was drinking. That being said, the taste was absolutely awesome. One of my more liked cold brews I have had since being in Tulsa. Smooth to start, but a rich finish at the end. I know most people give this place 5 stars, and I honestly want to because It was extremely good, but I had a couple of complaints, and I will never give a perfect review if I have any complaints, because by having a complaint, the place is not perfect! That being said, the wait was worth it, yes it's small, but the taste is awesome, food looked great even though I didn't eat any, and there is a reason that Topeca ships all over the place. GREAT coffee. Go here. Give it a try!

Has absolutely ruined me for coffee outside of Tulsa. Must travel with Topeca to get by. Unless you're going to Kona, then you'll be fine.

What follows is why I will NEVER STEP FOOT IN ANTOHER FREEWAY CAFE AGAIN. A few weeks ago, I went in and sat at a table. I watched two other tables of people (one couple another two tables) come in after me. Both got served water and I menus as still waited. I waited still as the waitress came and took an order at one of the tables....still no water, still no menu. I decided I may be invisible, so I got up and walked out. I didn't storm out, just walked out. As I did, the waitresses, literally loitering behind the counter (it was not a busy day) said, "oh, she's leaving". Fast forward to today, we decided to order a late breakfast in. I thought I would give them another chance, maybe it was an off day. Not the case. I went in to get my food from the counter. I waited while the waitress helped someone ahead of me. She asked my name and I told her and she said they were working on it. She went and got two food cartons and put them down in front of me and told me the total. We had ordered an extra side which was not there and I let her know (in an even tone). She barked back at me that she wasn't done. The man next to me looked bewildered. I began to tell the man about my last experience and the waitress interrupted our conversation and basically told me to shut-up. I was stunned. Additionally, the food has gone downhill. I will never set foot in any Freeway Cafe again. I was trying to support local; but there are plenty of better local eateries. I don't know why the atmosphere at this place has changed, but the tension is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Good riddance, Freeway Cafe.
