Erm... THE GOOD: -The hostess was polite. We made a reservation for 6pm, and our table was ready & available early when our group arrived around 5:40pm. -Outstanding service from our waiter ("Tommy"). He was kind, attentive, and so courteous. He most certainly had the patience of a Zen master handling our rowdy party of 10 with a few rambunctious children. There was not a single error in our orders... It's refreshing to find good service these days when dining out, and Tommy was honestly such a gem. THE BAD: Sad to say, but the food was overall pretty low tier. Every sushi roll was wrapped sloppily, with mismatched shapes & forms, nothing aesthetically pleasing, and everything disastrously falling apart with the slightest nudge. The menu was elaborate - with pages upon pages of fancy names of dishes and interesting descriptions of each item. Enticed by the menu (and realizing it was also Happy Hour, woohoo), we sampled several appetizers & rolls. Unfortunately, there was nothing impressive about the taste of any of them. In fact, it was all disappointing compared to similar items found elsewhere... It was all practically grocery store sushi rolls with a bedazzled name, and most of it looked like it was assembled by someone who had taken a single sushi-making class off the internet. That, or they just didn't care. THE UGLY: -Some other turn-offs were rickety & unstable tables, which we remedied by propping the bases with chopsticks... -And, there was also questionable black-green goo (mold?) on the ice of one of our drinks. We were so thirsty, we risked it for the biscuit (after our kind server brought us a new drink), but I would think twice about ordering ice in your drinks here. So, shoutout to the stellar waitstaff, especially good guy Tommy. But, "Try harder," for the kitchen crew. With the disappointing (and questionable) food quality we probably won't find ourselves dining here again. read more

A very loud show went on for 30 minutes and made 2 on my kids cry and the other 2 had the worst headache. It was very loud and it took 30 minutes and for that 30 minutes nobody was served it caused a big hold and after the 30 minute show my martini was not even made and i asked for it 15 minutes before the whole inconvenience then they started grabbing and throwing things off of our table and then they set off a confetti gun and that was definitely not needed. Service was excellent very nice, polite, efficient yet attentive so we gave the server over 20% tip. My friend ordered the curry katsu don/ fried cutlet over rice with curry sauce, and it tasted homestyle like it should be. I ordered the lunch combo C which included the spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna hand roll, and 4 pieces of nigiri sushi; the sushi looked dull, acceptable but not too fresh. The spicy tuna hand roll did not taste fresh, and appeared to be pre made hours ahead since the seaweed wrapper was moist & very chewy, hard to bite through. Price was quite reasonable for this high rent area. They made a big effort with ambience decorations and the plating details but need consistent food quality control. Overall my experience, the quality was about the same as a sushi buffet or even grocery store sushi. Good enough if I am nearby but not my first choice. read more

There are some good sushi options here for sure - just have to do a little navigating. We aren't big fans of the spicy rolls where the fish is mixed up with mayo because it doesn't taste as fresh. The prices are about half the price of the sushi restaurants downtown so pretty cheap but far from the exciting dishes there. I likely won't return unless there's no other options. Here in Texas on business and have been wanting to have sushi, The very kind people at my hotel recommended to come here and assured me that "I would not be disappointed." The location is great, as it's on a huge strip of shopping centers and other restaurants to venture to. To give their customers privacy, they have tinted the windows, which definitely feels nice and private once you enter, however, when the Uber driver dropped me outside of the restaurant (Driver dropped me off right in front of the AMC Theater, across from the Restaurant) because of the limited lighting on the outside, my colleague and I thought this location was closed down and was considering walking the other direction to the Seafood Restaurant. I told him to let's just walk up to the front door and check. Luckily that was a good decision, as the place was open for business, just very dark on the outside. The server, Elijah was very kind and professional . Throughout the service, he was attentive and not over checking us during our meal. Without a doubt, his made in an impact on this review. With that said, the meal unfortunately fell short considerably. My colleague and I ordered the "I want it all Sushi Combo" to share and the quality of the fish was just not there. The cuts were okay but not clean, there was a slight un-fresh, fishy taste to the sushi, and above all, the sushi rice was undercooked. For my entree, I ordered the Teriyaki Steak Rib-Eye Dinner, and again, the rice was undercooked and the steak very chewy (I ordered medium rare ) the flavor of the Teriyaki seemed very plain Jane, and nothing to write home about. My Colleage ordered the ​Rib-Eye Maki. and it was not very good at all. Perhaps on paper it seemed like a good idea but, once put to plan, not so great. The thinly sliced beef was wrapped in avacado and carrots. The Avacado with the steak was interesting, but the carrots wrapped in the beef was way too hard to eat because the carrot were so hard. (Maybe the carrots were not fully cooked?) in any case my colleague did not finish he meal and did not want send to food back (we ended up taking him somewhere else to get another dinner) For desert, we ordered the Mochi Ice Cream and the Oreo Fried Ice Cream. The Mochi Ice Cream had the choice of Strawberry, Vanilla, and Grean Tea. My colleage was hoping that he would be able to try one of each, but unfortunately you are only allowed to chose one flavor. The Oreo Fried Ice Ceam was not very good. The vanilla Ice Cream itself was not bad, along with the fresh cut strawberries, but the Oreo is deepfried in very thick Tempura batter and all I could tast was the oil and tempura batter. All in all not, my cup of tea and not really planning to come back. I have to give credit to the team that is experimenting on creating interesting dishes, but this did not work for me. read more

Why bother running a restaurant if you're not going to pay attention to your customers? The service here was pretty disappointing. When I walked in, there were four other people waiting to be seated, but nobody bothered to greet us. While we waited, I saw someone call the restaurant just to let them know they were waiting, but it still took ages for their food to arrive. And even then, they didn't acknowledge the rest of us waiting. Finally, one person got fed up and went to the bar to complain. After that, we were all seated, but then we had to wait another six minutes. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this experience wasn't great. On the bright side, our server was really nice, and it wasn't her fault things were so slow. As for the food, it's decent if you're in the mood for hot Japanese dishes, but if you're expecting top-notch sushi, you might be disappointed. The shaggy dog was good and tasted comparable to other sushi restaurants in the area. The big boy country was interesting but had a little too much cream cheese for my liking. The quality of ingredients along with the caliber of service definitely make Top Sushi my go-to when in the Shenandoah area. Plus... who doesn't love happy hour! The menu options are far from skimpy and the taste of everything we ordered was delectable! My kids are certainly tougher critics than I am, so when they gave 5 stars - well... there you have it - one can't really complain. All in all, we spent less than $100 and were pretty full by the end of our meal. Had we not visited during happy hour, it would've been a bit pricier, so keep that in mind if you are visiting with a larger family/party. We arrived around 6:30 since it was a Friday night and we wanted to get a table early. We were able to snag a booth with no wait. We ordered some edamame to start which was okay, and then the sushi started coming out. We ordered a dolce roll, jade roll, buddy roll and tuna frenzy roll, as well as a tuna tartare. Well, the waiter brought a peppered tuna wonton chips instead of tuna tartare and the tuna frenzy roll was missing some elements. However, the peppered tuna was actually very good and all of the rolls were too. The quality of the fish is why we keep coming back, it's always fresh. The jade roll and dolce role especially pack a lot of flavor. The seaweed salad was also not my favorite. All in all a good experience, the ambiance is great and so is the food. First of all the place is tastefully done, open concept, great sushi bar and cocktail bar. Next, the menu is expansive.
