What a disappointment! We've always loved Wasabi at all of its locations but hadn't been to this one in a while. We were off to a good start until we got the coconut shrimp and the lunch sushi special. The shrimp on both dishes was so old as to be dried and chewy. I asked for the manager and told her about it just so they could avoid serving those shrimp to anyone else. She seemed unconcerned and just walked away without any kind of explanation or apology. Considering that WO Sushi and Tenzen are in the same shopping center, I'm not sure why we would go back to Wasabi. read more

Wasabi Bistro is located just across the street from Harvest Market. While shopping we decided to go for sushi, and took a leisurely walk across to Wasabi Bistro. They only have happy hour on Sundays, so we decided to do take out instead. We ordered the sushi and sashimi for 2. We also got the blue Hawaii roll, which consisted of shrimp/crab on the inside, and avocado and seared tuna on the outside. The first one my wife ate was a bit fishy, but the rest of the fish was decent. Although the sushi/sashimi boasted generous portions, nothing stood out about the sushi and sashimi that made us respond, "wow that was good." We did not like the Shaggy Roll (crab on outside), you may want to omit the cream cheese. We don't think that should be included with sushi/sashimi pairing (give something more substantial offering). We would say overall the tuna and the yellowtail (with jalapeño) were generally pretty fresh. Don't get me wrong, this is an upgrade to the sushi restaurants in the general area of Montgomery County. But just stick with your favorite specialty rolls for this place. Or better yet - take advantage of the selection and grab a pad Thai, hibachi, ramen bowl, or a Singapore vermicelli (which was a surprise to see on the menu!). We have been regular Wasabi customers ever since moving to Woodforest last summer. I'm disappointed to say that the quality and service that made us repeat customers has declined in that time. Our experiences in the last few months have been particularly unimpressive. I went to pick up a large takeout order this evening and when I got home and opened my daughter's chicken katsu meal, I discovered it was a mess. Presentation was nonexistent. Rather than slicing a whole cutlet up and plating it, it looked like they threw all the leftover ends from other meals onto her salad. She orders the same thing regularly so we have come to expect a certain level of quality with this dish and it fell flat. My husband opened his salad and commented at how dismal the quality also was compared to the salads we usually get. It's his birthday so rather than setting it aside and eating the $5 charge, I took it back to the restaurant and tried to get a replacement. The cashier interrupted me before I fully explained that the quality was not what they normally turn out and she told me the ginger dressing that I didn't bring back with the salad should be with the order. I went on to tell her the dressing wasn't the concern, it was the quality but she again didn't let me finish. As soon as I commented on the nonexistent carrots, she interrupted very curtly and said they were on the bottom. She clearly needs to be trained in how to handle customers because when a customer has an issue, you should at least hear them out. I got frustrated and left with the same salad I came in with and it ended up being thrown away at home. I'm not sure if we will be giving them more chances. In all honesty, these were minor issues today and they could have easily kept us happy customers by replacing the salad rather than interrupting and arguing. However, since we have also had missing items and wrong orders in recently, we might start looking for another place to order from. We typically spend $80-100 every time we order and if they can't bother to replace a salad that cost them less than $1 to make, our business must not be that important to them. Hopefully your experience is better than ours. read more

Because the menu is massive, it's close by and everything we tried was enjoyable. --- --- --- Wasabi Bistro is one of the closest restaurants to our new house, so I was incredibly happy that we enjoyed it. The first thing we noticed is that the menu is absolutely massive. There's Chinese dinners, Japanese dinners, sushi, sashimi, and plenty of appetizers, soups, salads and desserts as well. For our first visit, we tried a bunch of different things: a couple of sushi rolls, honey walnut shrimp and beef lo mein. All of it ranged from good to great. We just moved to the area from Tampa and had a Chinese restaurant that we absolutely loved near our old house. They made some really killer honey walnut shrimp, and while this did not quite live up to that, it was still enjoyable. The sushi we tried was the lobster lover roll and the skydiver roll. The skydiver roll was the better of the two and definitely something I will be ordering again. The lobster lover role was also tasty! I think we could eat here ten times and still feel like we haven't even scratched the surface of this menu. Challenge accepted! read more

We wanted an appetizer so called her back to the table. Appetizer was dropped off and she was rushing off again and we asked to order. I ordered the Singapore noodles and asked for shrimp only. I was informed I would only get 3 shrimps so I opted for shrimp & chicken... Food was brought out in a timely manner and everything was plentiful, flavorful and served hot. We didn't see our server again until we once again got her attention to ask for siracha (50¢ charge on ticket). Also, they don't have fish sauce. Server eventually returned to drop off bill. Not sure if this type of service is a regular occurrence or we just had fluke bad service... Anyway, food is good, not "wow". Service sucks. It's 100 degrees outside and the restaurant was 90 degrees and the owner refuses to turn the ac down. The a/c was not broken! Yes, I had ordered a meal for my wife and I, Chicken Fried Rice and Singapore noodles. We have eaten here many times with the food being fairly good. This order did not meet their normal standards. The chicken fried rice had an over abundance of oil saturated in the rice and the Singapore noodles was extremely dry without sauce and heavily spicy. I talked to Kate a manager there and shared our concerns. She was very sweet and said, she would write my name down w phone number and give me credit. I told her thank you for her kindness. I followed up after a few weeks yesterday and talked to another manager because Kate was not working that day. This guy was extremely Rude and was completely argumentative with me and was not receptive to what Kate had agreed too. Who ever he was I fine myself writing this negative review and will not dine here any longer. He provided bad customer service interaction and should not be working there. He was Awful!!! read more

We love wasabi! We go there often. They always remember us when we come in which is so sweet! It makes you feel appreciated for the business! It's a bit warm sometimes but they always turn down the air when we ask :) I have been meaning to make this review for a month so I have a ton of photos! My favorite rolls have to be the pink lady (add jalapeño). A few other favorites are the lava roll, sexy lady roll, volcano roll and wasabi special roll. Although I have had the volcano roll 3 times and it has looked different every time I've ordered! Could just be different sushi chefs. Still delicious! We love the house salads and LOVED the tuna tar tar + jalapeño bites. I've had probably more than 30 menu items and the only thing I didn't absolutely LOVE was the peppered tuna appetizer. The sauce was pretty oily so I couldn't get past that oily flavor. But other than that, we have loved everything we have ever ordered! The customer service is also so good! Sometimes it is slow because of how busy the staff is but they are all so sweet! Novi is our favorite! The manager is also so great. She is always so welcoming and makes great cocktails! read more

Hubby and I tried Wasabi Bistro for lunch while visiting the area on a freezing Wednesday. Our waitress, Emma, was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. She was well-versed and helpful on menu items and removed plates as they emptied. We enjoyed 2 lunch specials (which come with soup & salad), some sushi, a hot tea and a coke. Menu items were the Tuna & Salmon Combo (3 pcs each); The Sushi lunch (6pc. assorted combo); Unagi Sushi and a Hot Mama. The Sushi was fresh and tasty but the Hot Mama was my favorite. It was warm, crispy, creamy, shrimpy, crabby goodness...O-M-G!! Next time I will not share this! The salad was fresh and ginger dressing good. Could have used a little more dressing. The Miso soup had plenty of tofu and seaweed but was weak in flavor. The restaurant was freezing - probably due to the very high ceilings. In the summer, this would be great! We both had the teriyaki steak dinner The dish had no flavor the vegetables that it came with were as if they were grilled then boiled and the steak was tough and flavorless. The food was amazing. Service was perfect! My kids loved the sweet and sour chicken and it was more than enough for them to share. My mom got the Baked Avocado and WOW!! So good! My friends and I went here on a girls night out the miso soup had no tofu or seaweed which equated to being served warm water. The calamari were chewy and looked like soggy leftover onion rings. My friend and I both ordered a shaggy roll, my friend's roll was fine but mine looked sloppy and tasted awful. I sent mine back telling the waiter I didn't like it. This is when the manager came over to harass us, she insisted the restaurant did nothing wrong and that it was my fault for not liking it. The manager left and sent the kind waiter to tell us that despite practically sending the entire roll back we would have to pay for it because it was my fault I didn't like it. I told the waiter that I would not be paying for something that we did not eat. The manager came back around to further harass us. I told her we were not here to fight with her and informed her that we just had a negative dining experience. Nevertheless, she kept defensively ranting, insisting on having the last word. I am a big proponent of spending a little bit more for quality, I understand that businesses are in business to make money and they're not a chain so they don't get big discounts on their purchases. I know that and I wrap my head around that when I think the price is too high. My husband on the other hand does not look at the food cost or any of that and he thinks the prices are too high.
