I went on a Friday for a dipping and had a broken nail, I walked out with a huge bump where Stephanie made a repair. When I went back in I was told by the owner (Mother) there would be a charge for fixing the repair again and to re-dip the nail. Are you serious after just spending $50.00 and tipping her $10.00. She's the one who did the horrible job repairing the nail not me! After the owner started telling me they're not in business to repair nails I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Who doesn't have a broken nail once or twice in their life. I have had my nails done for over 40 years and I've never heard of anything so ridiculous. I have been to Top Spa Nails several times in the past and was very satisfied. Unfortunately not this time. I had a powder dip no chip manicure and it was $56 which is outrageous! I called and asked about the reason for the high cost. Jack gave me several reasons that made no sense whatsoever including "Stephanie had to soak off the previous no-chip manicure." Isn't removing the previous manicure included in the charge? It always has been included in past manicures that I have had there. He also said that the powder dip no chip is new to the area (false) and he also said that is the charge in the area for powder dip no chip manicures which is not also true. As much as I have liked Top Spa Nails in the past, $56 for a manicure is unbelievable. Very disappointed in their customer service as well. Needless to say I will not be returning nor will I recommend the salon to friends. read more

Tonight, a Tuesday, I walked into this nail salon for a manicure/pedicure with my daughter. The sign says "Walk-ins Welcome" and $35.00 for mani/pedi Monday-Thursday. I have been to this salon several times before without issue as a walk-in and thought they did a relatively nice job. As a result, I made the choice to come back as opposed to going to one of the new nail salons closer to my home. When I walked in, I was told that one technician would do my pedicure and then the other one would do my manicure; after my pedicure someone would do my daughter's nails. So her nails would be done while my second service was being completed. I was not advised that there would be a long wait between services. Initially, I sat and waited for the spa pedicure. While waiting, no one filled up the spa with water so that my feet could soak. Once the tech came over to do my pedicure, she filled the tub but apparently it was not for soaking. She also told me that the polish I picked had a $5.00 upcharge because it lasts longer. I said that there was no sign, so how would I know that or even know that it lasts longer. Response - "my regulars know". The tech then started on the pedicure without me even getting my feet wet. I could not have put my feet in the water more than twice for a minute or less. The niceties described such as heel treatments were not provided. It was a basic and fast pedicure, after which I waited for the manicure. An hour and 20 minutes after I arrived, and after my daughter's nails were finished, they were ready to do my manicure. Unfortunately, at this point, I had to leave. I did not plan on being there more than an hour for a mani/pedi especially when the pedicure could not have taken 30 minutes, if even that. After all that, I was charged $30.00 for the pedicure, $5.00 less than with a manicure. When I pointed this out along with the hour and 20 minutes wait for the manicure, that I wanted but did not have time to receive, I was told "that is the price for a pedicure" and has been for a long time and that next time I should call and make an appointment. That is a new customer service lesson for me. Apparently, this nail debacle was my fault. I should not have believed what was printed on the door, or told to me when I walked in. Addendum - the salon did offer for me to pay the extra $5 ($35.00 mani/pedi price) and come back within the week for the manicure (with an appointment, of course). While I plan to do so, that now places this mani/pedi as taking in excess of 2 hours, exclusive of travel and drying time, with less than an hour of that actually spent on my nails. I suggest that if you come here and are not a regular with an appointment make sure that you have time and money to burn! read more

Saw Yelp 20% off discount for first timers and thought I'd give it a try. Received a superb foot rub from gentleman, and Linda did very thorough and clean no chip manicure. All in all great service. I went on a Monday at lunchtime and there was only one of visitor. They have a HUGE color selection. Got a coupon to come back. Hopefully it was just a "first-timer" pamper job! Will definitely come back. Update two weeks later: Went back on May 7 for next no chip manicure. Tried a new color without seeing plastic color sample first, based on glowing review from Linda's daughter. 3 layers later it was still thin and nowhere near color I was looking for. Mentioned I didn't love it but was told to go home and try it bc it was "great for summer". Went home and within the hour called back to say I don't don't like it and wanted a change. Linda said bc I called same day it wouldn't be a problem. Went back at agreed upon time, got a color change and at the end was asked to pay $25. Excuse me?? My surprise was met with rude remarks that I was the problem and it's expensive to change colors so I needed to pay. I really couldn't believe the treatment after my first experience so had to update my review. Won't be going back. read more

This review is regarding customer service. I was a walk in for a pedicure. I was told, no problem, pick your color and have a seat here (they filled up a tub/seat and told me to put my feet in). I did just that and waited. I waited 20 min soaking my feet. Two women walked in who had appointments. Now I've been soaking for 30 min. The salon owner, manager comes over to me and says "you need to wait another 20 min, they are first". I said "No, I don't have time, but thanks anyway ". She asks me when will I come back? I respond with "I don't know". Keep in mind, I am friendly, never raise my voice, I'm calm. I begin to put my shoes on, the manager is now angry with me, loudly voicing her opinion about me leaving, in another language. Rude and ridiculous. Did she think I would sit there and soak my feet for a hour before the pedi began? Don't come here without an appointment. I'm personally never coming back. read more

My experience here makes the top 3 mani/pedis I've ever had. I wanted both a mani/pedi but was short on time and needed to choose the one I required more urgently. However, when the manager offered to do both the same time, I couldn't turn it down as my hands/feet were in desperate need of care. I'm always reluctant getting a mani/pedi at the same time as I tend to presume that the discomfort employees must feel while standing/working translates into subpar work, however, that could not be further from the truth at this spa. I was blown away by how meticulous both of my manicurists were. Both really took their time - much more than I'd experienced at other salons. They were extremely detailed and took their time cleaning my cuticles (I think they did multiple rounds of this, but lost track as I got distracted by the movie and ongoing conversations). I like to spend time to myself during spa treatments and prefer not to talk but rather read or shut my eyes. However, I could hear the employees speaking to customers and appreciated the level of customer service here. One regular must've ruined one nail as she was looking for the name of her polish, and the manager was able to recall the brand and eventually locate the color she was looking for. I could hear other employees inquiring about their customer's son, another about how a customer's granddaughter had recently visited. In my short time here, I was able to discern that management cared about their customers. At no point did I feel rushed or just another number. From beginning to end, my mani/pedi took 1.25 hours. I enjoyed my time here and wish I lived nearby to make this a regular spot for my appointments. The nail salon might not look like much at first glance, but the customer service and experience here are top notch. Special thanks to Jasmine and Jack (?), my manicurists. I love this salon! I live in Evanston and work in Northfield, so this is in the perfect location to stop in after work. I get their French No Chip and it's great. Although it is a $5 charge for French (most places haveat least a $5 upcharge), it is cheaper in the long run because it lasts for a whole month! I try to call before I come in, but sometimes I don't know until the last minute and they except walk-ins. After getting a very positive review from my mom I was very excited to come here but was sadly disappointed.. I came at the end of the day and felt as though the staff was eager to get out the door. My mani and pedi was done at the same time, not allowing me to fully enjoy my experience. I requested the same color for both, but since they were working at the same time the color was different, which is not what I wanted. When I told them that's not what I asked for they were unwilling to change it. After coming home, my pedicure immediately got scratched and the paint clumped even though it had been 3 hours. I have only been here once for a no-chip manicure, but I didn't have the best experience. It wasn't horrible, but enough to make me schedule an appointment elsewhere from now on. The girl I had came up to me and said I could sit down, which I did. The only question she asked me was "is square ok?". I replied "yes" and about 45 seconds after she started filing my nails, she said "I'm sorry" and got up and rushed to the bathroom. I'm pretty sure she threw up in her mouth and then took care of it in the restroom. She looked hungover and kept hiccup/burping. It was honestly just unprofessional and pretty gross. Don't get me wrong, I've gone to work basically still drunk from the night before, but I grabbed a giant Gatorade, some mints, and slapped on a drunken grin in front of customers! The manicure itself was decent. It lasted for over 2 weeks without chipping - just natural nail growth. P.S. I do apologize if the girl was dealing with morning sickness and not "I shouldn't have gotten drunk last night" but I'm pretty sure she was hung over.. haha read more

Typical nail salon, decor is nice. However, it's hard to relax because there's a small dog in barking loud and often in addition to roaming the floor and running between your feet while getting a manicure. Also staff isn't welcoming nor customer service oriented. Over all my nails and toes look fairly well, however, they don't use any top of the line products like Nuskin for the pedicure they also don't rub your legs for longer than 3 mins and it'for the short amount they do there's no muscle put into the rub. Also dipping powder only lasted two weeks and typically last 6 weeks for me. I did the white dipping powder and it turned yellow less in less than 6 days. read more

These ladies had the warmest personalities and were very inviting, however my nails did not hold up. I really liked the way my no-chip nails looked leaving the salon but they did not hold up for even a week. Steph was very thorough but she was particularly rough on the cuticles. I had sore cuticles for at least three to four days after getting my nails done. My cuticles came out looking way worse than they did going in. My nails began chipping FOUR days after my appointment. They are only small chips but I paid for at least TWO weeks of no-chips. I am not rough on my nails at all. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but I am disappointed and don't think I'll be returning. read more

I am new to the area. Found this salon on Yelp. I called for an appointment, then called back because I realized I would be finished too late to meet my husband. She told me to come right in now. There are no prices listed at the front, and silly me, I didn't ask. I booked a basic mani-pedi. My pedi started and I saw a paper flyer posted that listed a special for a pedi spa upgrade for 10.00 instead of 15.00, and parafin treatment for 5.00 instead of 10.00. I asked for the spa upgrade (for 10.00). My pedicure was just okay. The daughter then said she was going to give me the parafin treatment for FREE since I was a new customer. In the meantime, a regular customer comes in for her appointment and is kept waiting at least 20-25 minutes - even though she had an appointment. She was not happy as she had been there twice before and told there was no time. As a result of being overbooked, the service was rushed, not relaxing and not great. I wound up getting a no chip manicure as well. Which was also not that great. I was charged 95.00. I did not get the 5.00 discount on the spa pedicure upgrade plus I paid 10.00 for the parafin treatment I was told I would get for free. In my opinion, if I pay 95.00 plus tip for a mani-pedi, it had better be great...this was just so-so. Today, just one day later, I have 2 hangnails and two nails that are chipping/peeling. Since they are under new management - they might need some advice about managing their booking schedules and not gouging their clients on price.
