My never-ending quest for a nail salon brought me to Glenview, in The Glen area, to the Pixie Nail Spa suggested by Yelp Elite Tricia D. Now I am neither a cheerful mischievous sprite or a petite vivacious woman, but I found a lot to like about the Pixie Nail Spa. Foremost, I like the ability to book online. I like the hours of operation (9am-7pm most days, closed Sunday). I liked that street parking is available (plentiful in the evening when I was there, probably busy on weekends). The spa is bright and spacious, with a lot of manicure tables and pedicure stations. More to like: friendly staff, offers of beverages, quiet (on a week night). Sarah did a great job on my manicure, which still looked pretty fresh from almost 2 weeks ago (thanks Canyon Ranch!). I chose a neutral color and added Dazzle Dry (another thanks to CR). I much prefer this to a no-chip because there are NO drills involved, it dries quickly and it's vegan/gluten-free (not gonna eat it). I think I'll look for dazzle dry in all future manicures. I would like a greater variety of colors in the DD choices, and my manicure was pretty basic. TLDR? 4.5/5 stars read more

I've tried to like this salon, it's an easy walk from my home. I've gone 5 times now, had regular mani pedis and upgraded my pedicure once (virtually no difference except a slightly longer mediocre leg massage). I decided to go in on a Friday afternoon for a basic manicure ($20). My manicurist rushed through it, I was done in 20 minutes and you can tell. She glopped on the polish, put it on so quickly that bubbles started coming to the surface. I gave her a 20 and a ten and she never came back with the change (my bad but who wants to chase someone down in a crowded salon). I'm done with this place. I will never trust 5 star reviews after giving this place 5 times to get it right (once was before going on a beach vacation where I had to have them redone on day 3). read more

I really wanted to like this salon. I tried 3x! The space is easy to get to, lots of light, modern, clean and has great nail polish options including Dazzle Dry. My first visit I had with Esther, I was so happy.. I'm like ok this is my new place! ... then Esther left. 2nd visit: I tried with someone new. It was the worst manicure I've had in my life and I've gotten regular mani/pedi's for 15+ years. It was beyond rushed, thick, gooey, top coat slapped on. It was worse than when I'm rushing at home! There was no massage and I had to tell the tech how to apply Dazzle dry. I told the owner, Becky, who was super nice and apologetic. She gave me a credit as it chipped within less than 24 hours and I was leaving town for a wedding. Becky was so nice, I decided to give one more try! Unfortunately Becky does not take clients. For my 3rd visit, they gave me one of their "best" techs. I waited 20 minutes despite having an appointment. Once again, NO massage and did not understand dazzle dry. If you do not apply Dazzle Dry to the specific steps, it will not last and that's what I'm paying for. I was disappointed yet again and am now unfortunately not returning. I jumped on to see the reviews and there is a CLEAR pattern. 1. rushed services, no massages. 2. Techs do not know how to use dazzle dry. It baffles me when a business has clear directive from their customers, especially as simple as this and they do not make the improvements to retain the clientele. I only had a basic nail trim done, and unfortunately, it was a really disappointing experience. The tech actually cut me while trimming my nails, and the shape of my nails now is just a mess--uneven sizes, no consistency, and they look more like blobs than nails. My nails are naturally thick and strong, but this made them look rough and careless. She also didn't remove my old nail polish properly--you can still see streaks and lines left behind. For such a simple service, I expected a lot more care and attention to detail. Definitely not worth it. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this nail salon for the first time and it exceeded all my expectations. The interior is very clean and beautifully decorated. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming too. I liked having multiple televisions playing different shows as well. My technician, although I didn't catch her name, was fantastic! Very thorough and friendly. I got pink Gel-X nails and they turned out very solid. It's no surprise this place is always busy with customers. Also please be more conscious of clients who are elderly or have mobility issues. Please make sure you open the pedicure chair so the client can get out. Everyone was nice here except one young nail technician. She had a really bad attitude and ruined the whole experience for us. She acted as if she was being forced to do nails (like it was painful). What was even worse was she sneezed into her gloves and then proceeded to apply lotion to the feet using the same gloves she sneezed in. First of all, Pixie was very accommodating to our large group. We all got to sit together, people were friendly, and understanding of our size and ages of group members. The problem I had was that I paid for a no chip manicure and regular pedicure, with tip was close to $100 and I got home and needed to put Neosporin on several toes and fingers due to being cut. My toe nails were cut so low that during the pedicure, it stung and knew that my skin had been cut, which makes the experience of a pedicure extremely stressful instead of relaxing. When I got home, I was bleeding from the tops of two of my toes. I noticed the cuts on my finger nail cuticles when I got home and had to get some Neosporin on those as well. For paying close to $100, there was not a massage, lotion, or anything done to my hands or arms. It was: remove no chip polish, prepare for no-chip polish, apply no-chip polish. And it was done there. It was disappointing since I saw the lady next to me get a hand massage and towel, so maybe it just depends on who you get. However, there should be a standard level of treatment. I did not pay for a polish change, I paid and booked a no-chip manicure. Extremely disappointed considering all of the great reviews I had researched before going. read more

The space was very clean and well maintained. The massage chairs were great with a lot of options for a more customized back massage. We elected for the hot stone massages over the hot paraffin wax, and it was a great experience. We chose to get the dazzle dry nail polish for the longevity and drying time. The salon and my technician was very nice. The person checking me in seemed annoyed. My pedicure was mediocre at best and it was expensive. Finish looks flat. I had to have my nail heights evened out by my daughter. The nails were cut straight across, not softened at the corners. Maybe it was an off day, but at the price that shouldn't happen. The polishes are organized to help finding your favorite easier. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the prices are reasonable. $49 for a mani/pedi.
