I was glad it was so convenient and seeing their 5 stars on Yelp made me want to give them a try. I ordered a cheeseburger and they did not disappoint. Being a fan of Top Shelf Tacos, I was intrigued when I saw the Top Shelf Burger truck parked right in front of the Top Shelf Tacos restaurant. I often stop by Top Shelf Tacos on Tuesday for their Taco Tuesday and couldn't help but check out this bright yellow food truck. This truck specializes in Wagyu smash burgers. Their menu features different burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, loaded fries and jalapeño poppers. I'm always up for some good fries and couldn't pass up on trying Top Shelf Burgers' Top Shelf Fries for $15. These loaded fries consisted of seasoned fries topped with Top Shelf spread, American cheese, grilled onions pickles and two Wagyu burger patties. The Top Shelf Fries were the perfect item to try for my first visit to this food truck. The fries were perfectly crispy and the Wagyu was tender, rich and buttery. "Loaded" perfectly describes these fries. I loved how the Top Shelf sauce and American cheese were smothered all over the fries and the Wagyu. There was also a generous amount of grilled onions and a nice sprinkle of pickles. The balance of salt and creaminess was spot on. These fries were pure flavor from start to finish and I'm still drooling as I type this ;). For over a decade, Top Shell Tacos has been a cool, go-to Mexican food spot alternative here in Carson. If you know, you know how dope this place is and I STILL miss their horchata cupcakes! LOL! I'll never ever stop protesting to get those back! Haha! Cut to the now (depending on when you're reading this!) ..it's 2025 and the owner opens up his Top Shelf Burgers food truck that is literally parked in front of Top Shelf Tacos!!! Thanks to a homie from Orange County, he told me out of nowhere to check this place out and I was like "DUDE! That's by Top Shelf Tacos right near me!"; so I made it a mission to go and check it out ASAP right after work today since it was meant to be because they open their truck to the public on Wednesdays until 8:00pm!!! Their parking is always free and ample, not a problem at all. Once I arrived, I ordered their Double Cheeseburger that is $12 (only $2 more from the regular cheeseburger!). The really really cool thing is that it's a WAGYU SMASHBURGER!!! What more do you want!?!? Hell yeah! I also ordered their seasoned fries for only $5 for a nice small bags worth of cayenne pepper and seasoning greatness! I wanted ranch, but they didn't have ranch, so the owner gave me his secret burger sauce on the side and it was the bommmmmb! Perfect alternative to buttermilk ranch and/or ketchup! The ambiance is always super chill inside and outside of this brick and mortar place. If you eat inside, they have TVs and stuff, including a TV on the actual food truck outside as well with chairs and tables if you want some air. All in all, I've legit had so many other smash burgers at other places, but Top Shelf Burgers is definitely one of my all-time favorites/top 5 spots now! If you're craving the perfect burger, this truck is a MUST. The patties are cooked just right, crispy edges, juicy center. The flavor is next level. And don't sleep on the sides--the bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers were out of this world. Crispy, smoky, and just the right amount of heat. Service was fast and friendly, the quality beats most sit-down burger spots I've tried. You can tell they really care about what they're making.
