Went here two days in a row last week. Sooo, good. Let me start by thanking them for being in the food desert of First Hill. Secondly, staff were so nice and made great recommendations. They offered some of the best services we've seen in the city. But more than anything - they make really good jelly donuts (Bismarcks) for Chanukah. My husband loved his raspberry one. They have my favorite lattes in the city so far outside of Vivace. The espresso is bold and flavorful and the syrups they have are rich the way I like. (Rich, I would not say too sweet.) I had a few different chocolate donuts and liked the Old Fashioned the most, so give it a try! This shop is so nice such a vibe. Right along the street and open windows from floor to ceiling it has 2 stories so you can get your coffee and donut and sit and relax on the second floor. Not sure why the low rating for this place?! Full disclosure, we're not locals. However, we make it a point to try the local donut shops everywhere we go. Had an unexpected stay at Swedish right by this location and was very happy to see this come up as an option. Such a great little shop, it is not very big however they laid it out well so it doesn't fewl cramped. I got an almost gluten free biscuit with jam and a mocha (made with ovaltine). I the biscuit was very good nice balance of tart from the jam and sweet of the biscuit. The mocha was very good, i have never had one made with ovaltine and am impressed at the taste. I like to rate donut places based on the tried and true classics: a glazed old fashioned and a chocolate bar. I'm not sure if it's the Top Pot brand or just this location, but neither impressed me here. The glazes on both were standard & sweet, reminding me of a that on a typical mass produced donut. The old fashioned missed the mark as it lacked the crispy exterior, and the chocolate bar wasn't as fluffy as a good yeast donut should be. Overall, these were no better than a grocery store donut. This was my first time actually going to a Top Pot as I usually have their donuts when someone brings them in at my work. Easy to find location off Madison and easy to get to from Swedish, I was glad to finally make in here. I showed up after lunch time so the selection wasn't as filled but they had what I like and wanted to no complaints here. I went with their maple bar and maple old fashioned. Both were really tasty and still pretty fresh. Service took some time as the staff seemed to only have one person working. Prices were higher side but I expected that being in downtown. Great donuts, terrible service. Went in this morning 11/22/22 and was serviced by two ladies one with short brown hair one with blonde hair. The lady with the brown hair was talking to me like I was remedial when answering questions. The lady with the blonde hair who was making beverages told me I could not have caramel on the top of my frappe even though I already payed for extra caramel, furthermore she refused me to whip cream because it takes ten minutes to make (Which it doesn't). The facility I work at has a donut morning every weekend. I purchase the donuts at the 35th street location in Wedgwood . I purchase a dozen donuts once a week. I have watch the the price of these donuts go up steadily. But this morning I go in and decide to buy 3 donuts to take home with me. I was charged $9.10 for those 3 donuts. Paying 6 dollars for 3 donuts is ridiculous! But paying $3 for a donut is f-ing crazy. I'll will continue to buy the donuts for my residents at top pot (that is until they lose their minds and charge more than $21.99 a dozen), but I will never purchase a donut for myself there ever again. Couldn't leave town without a trip to at least one of their locations. So this morning I headed out in search of a donut and chai tea. I was pleasantly surprised to find one only a few clocks from our hotel and I was looking for a glazed old fashioned and was greeted by a very nice lady who pointed out where it was since it was behind one of the other many flavors they had but then she said the magic words, "we also have a pumpkin spice glazed old fashioned that usually sells out over here!" OH my I love this place! They also had a chai tea latte and I got one of those as well. What a morning two of my favorite things at one place and they even have a counter with plugs all along it to charge your phone. The gal who helped me used to work at Starbucks so I told her how I usually order my chai and she made mine extra spicy here as well and I liked it more than Starbucks since it was was less sweet, more spicy and more like I make at home. I still don't know why Top Pot is so highly regarded in Seattle and recommended to folks from outta town. You got to be kidding me- these donuts are plain and cheaply made as you can get. You won't find any fancy donuts, maybe some interesting flavors, but it's sad that this chain is "Seattle's best donut". The cake donuts are so dry, dense, and flavorless if it's not all covered in glaze. The old fashioned donut is the only old fashioned style I can tolerate because of that. Sadly, the maple frosted ones leave some of the cake part unglazed and therefore dry/dense while being greasy at the same time. Maybe I'll give a raspberry old fashioned a try next time. As for their regular donuts, whenever I've had them for free due to work, i was never really impressed either. Pretty dry and/or flavorless unless it's one of the sugary AF flavors. There isn't much of a selection at 1PM. When we walked in, there were only about five different cookies or doughnuts available. The bottom shelf had four empty trays. If I was a worker, I would've at least removed the empty trays and baked more sweets! This leads me to believe there's no oven or way to make more food from scratch. What kind of business, which still has five more hours until closing time, has empty trays sitting out? A friend, who's on a gluten free diet, asked about gluten free options. There were none. In a city like Seattle where people are health-conscious, I was quite surprised. To quote my friend about the cashier, "She didn't look too happy about her job."
