We're new home owners, and it was really helpful to have him walk me through how the system worked, some of the things I could do on my own to make sure it works efficiently, and how to maintain it. Requested service on a water treatment system, one they have serviced before. Was stood up for an appointment with no call as to why, or any attempt to reschedule. After contacting them two days later, I was told they called both numbers they had on file. Lie. We waited all day and neither of us was notified of their cancellation. Have used them exclusively in the past for Water softener system and hvac. Then they got 5 stars... when my thermostat went out they called me back and tried to walk me through it, and finally sent out someone out to help. He came without thermostats and charged me a svc call charge. (They knew I was having trouble with my thermostat...). This is winter and my heater was stuck at 65. Came back a few days later to replace and said "I have one that's $1,900". Omg I was shocked. Just for a thermostat? Then quickly he reported he had one for $800 that he recommended. I had to have a new one since it's winter and stuck on 65 degrees! So after the install he showed me that there is an app for controlling it, from outside the home at anytime. Guess how much the app says they cost? $199, or as high as $249 for the fanciest version. Yeah not too happy to say the least. More than 100% markup! What a fool am I. I trusted them. I called to ask if it was a mistake and see if they'd honor my loyalty as a customer and do something about this. No! They said "we have to keep the lights on in our offices". Never again- over $900 for a $199 thermostat. I called the manufacturer and they said they've NEVER heard of any of their contractors using that kind of markup! They said they could have walked me through a new thermostat replacement. Sad business ethics- no matter how you look at it. read more

We had Top Notch install a new HVAC 6 years ago. Interviewed 3 different companies and they offered the most competitive bid including their VIP warrantee which has really been a huge benefit for us. This past week, we woke up to a terrible noise in our AC unit. Turns out it was a bird. :-( We called Top Notch and they sent John out that afternoon. He not only cleaned up the mess but cleaned off some sticky goo from trees etc., off the top of the unit making it look brand new. He showed us pictures so we didn't have to go look at it if we didn't want to. John was super personable and answered all our questions. Would encourage all to seek other alternatives. $180 diagnostic call and another $400 in labor charges for what ended up being a warranty call on a system they installed. Then was told the warranty should not have been honored because I didn't sign up for the VIP biannual service agreement that has nothing to do with the manufacturer. I challenged the service tech on the labor amount(s), to find out later I've been black listed for service from TNH. They actually did me a favor as I contracted with another HVAC contractor for $50 dc and he fixed my system that had been incorrectly wired. read more

I contacted TNHCP online to check out the system in my newly purchased house. They asked the age, and unsure, I said older. They immediately asked if I was interested in a new system, and I said possibly. The person who showed up was a salesman, not a technician. When I asked him if he could look at my system he said he wasn't a technician, but would look. He removed the cover to the humidifier and left on the floor and turned off the humidity. When he came back upstairs I got a sales pitch on new systems. Later, I discovered the humidifier cover on the floor. Fast forward, I called another company to service my system. I was told that the system was in good shape, not very old, and needed some maintenance. The tech cleaned and replaced the filter on the humidifier, adjusted the water pressure that was causing a problem, and gave me some great advice. My conclusion: TN was more interested in selling me a new, expensive system than taking care of my needs. read more

I purchased a groupon for a Heater/Furnace annual service and made an apt for one month out. Luckily, they had a cancellation. When the tech, Eddie, arrived he did the 16-point maintenance service in about 10 minutes. Basically he opened up the unit, used an old cloth to "dust" the wiring, replaced the filter with the cheapest filter available, tested for carbon monoxide and was done. We just had a professional inspection on the entire home and the inspector had noted that we needed to replace the existing flex gas line with a stick of black iron pipe to be up to code. I called Top Knotch to let them know about this hoping he could do it during the same visit. When they got out here the tech gave me a quote for $500+. I thought this was a little high, so I asked them for a written quote and thanked them for the service. I received the quote via email within minutes, but when I asked them to separate the materials from the labor costs in the quote, Becky Valet wrote back to me and said no, they would not itemize their invoice. No wonder! Turns out the cost of the pipe was about $20, the cost of the nipple $10, and another $20 for the shut off valve (and that's retail.) So they were charging $450 for labor for a job that was pretty straightforward, less than an hour. I guess they figured that since I was an elderly woman that I would not understand or realize that they were overcharging me. I do not recommend this company. read more

Instead of trying to sell me their most expensive unit, the tech actually guided me towards the least expensive option that had the best warranty, they were having a special and it was 25% off, and they installed it the next day. We bought a new lennox furnace from MIKE BROSSEIT and bought the yearly "Top Notch VIP Heating, Cooling & Plumbing" contract.. paid extra.. The first time we needed it, no luck.. Sunday night it went out, called the after hours number... they noted they could not page TOP Notch until after 6am the next day...am came and went. Still no word until I kept texting him on his phone.... We were over 12hr, so far without heat.. with two young kids,,,, had to run to Wal-Mart and buy electric heaters for the house.... Just my thoughts.... buy from someone who has a staff to take care of you and has a true 24/7 call system. Not someone that just keeps you busy...FYI -- I paid for the VIP.. but did not get it... just extra money down the drain.. -- UPdate--- one year later and Mike still has never returned my calls, not a word from him... sent an email to his staff and copied me on it --- "why is he texting my phone? and please tell him to call the shop number" FYI this is the only real review posted... you can read the other reviews got post to offset this true review. --- anytime you have a 1 review, one star, then 5 and 4 stars pop up after it.... and saying how great it is,,, you know the 4 and 5 star reviews are not real... I was referred to Top Notch through a friend of mine who is in a referral group with this company. Our A/C was not working and so I had them come out and was charged $99 for my diagnostic where I was told that I could be low on freon, but was told that there was "no way" to check it without beginning to fill it. I was then quoted $200/lb for freon. I was presented another option of replacing both my heating and A/C which neither system needed to be replaced. This seemed to be the agenda behind this. We had another company come out which charged $90/lb for freon. This experience was terrible and I would not recommend. read more

We had to replace our furnace in July when we sold our house and were pushed to get it done super fast. After a bad experience with another HVAC Contractor, our Realtor referred us to Top Notch. Tricia the sales manager came out within 1 business day to provide an estimate and gave it on the spot. She knew we were in a bind to get it done quick and I was worried we were going to pay a premium. But, she gave us a very reasonable price (almost half what the previous contractor quoted) and was able to get us on the schedule within a week. The end result was excellent: a high quality installation and no issues with the city inspection. Top Notch also has 0% interest financing, which we qualified for and were able to free up some cash that we'd need for the new house. My husband and I had owned our house for 7 months before the furnace died, right when temps dipped below zero. When we called them, they came out that night and gave us our options. We decided to replace both the furnace and AC (same age as the old furnace). They had guys out the next day with our new furnace. Through no fault of their own, our furnace was being difficult and they had to come out a couple more times than they expected. Every time, they got there really fast (even showing up earlier than they thought they could get there), were incredibly nice, patient and explained everything they were doing. And of course they apologized profusely for having to come back more than once. Everyone we talked to was extremely professional and courteous, and we feel like we purchased very good products. Should we ever need any heating or air conditioning service in the future, they will be the ones we call. read more

We had a new AC unit installed as well as zoning. The installation went smoothly and they did an awesome job. However, when it came to paying I noticed there was a 3% increased charge for not using a credit card. I inquired about this and was told to not worry about it and that I can use a credit card and they'll waive the fee. I insisted I can go get my checkbook but they doubled down saying it's not necessary. We found a $464.00 charge anyway on our account for using a credit card. The owner stated that because they had given us paperwork stating this charge was for paying by credit card, they would not refund us. It was an honest mistake by the tech as they obviously misspoke, but the fact they cannot own up to this issue for an otherwise perfect installation means we will never use this company again. I STRONGLY advise you seek other companies to avoid extra charges despite being told to not worry about the extra charges. It's sad they are willing to give up our future business over this mistake on their part. read more

We had used Top Notch for a few things over the last year or so and signed up for the VIP package. They were always prompt and service oriented. However, when it was time for us to get a new air conditioner we found that they weren't the most affordable option in town. Three pounds of freon cost us $90 per pound, while others we have used before charge half of that. Supposedly this was even the VIP rate. The quote we received on a new air conditioning unit was also quite a bit more than others we got. While service is good, you should make sure to shop around because they aren't the most affordable service in town. read more

When I said no she advised a technician would call me back to set an appointment. Top Notch called, worked us in, and had the repairs done BEFORE I ever got a call back from Anthony. We used to have this company service our attic furnace all the time and never had a problem. Then we had a home warranty through another company, but we are looking to replace the furnace and add central air. We had an appointment for a bid today, and the salesperson called to say he would be 15-30 minutes late. Three hours later he still did not show. My husband just read his email, and they told him they had been out before and did not want to do the job. We have been waiting all this time and no one bother to even call us? They had no trouble servicing us before so as far as I am concerned, they don't want to spend the time on us because we have a small house.
