Yes, I was completely sober and went to walk the dog when my cousin walks out behind me and closes the door not knowing that the bottom lock automatically locks. I found this business on Yelp and the owner was extremely polite, informative, and helpful. Let me know the price immediately and even knocked some money off when I mentioned his deal on Yelp that would not have been beneficial to me and the services I needed. He arrived in good time and it took him less than 10 minutes to unlock the door. The best part, he takes cards. Excellent, excellent, excellent! So I have an 81 year old cash register made in 1935. I love and collect antiques. My little boy and I play store as if we're in the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory movie candy store. The cash register jammed and the only way to even think about fixing it was to have Top Lock open it. Not only did they open it, but they fixed it! These guys are the greatest! The owner, Matt, is super nice. His dad, likewise. As was Rickey, a locksmith I also dealt with. They are knowledgeable, professional, and very reasonably priced. (I called around to a bunch of places before deciding on them.) I had a tough car key to work with, and they were all very patient. Had to leverage them twice. First one was because a family member locked the keys in the house and we needed to get back in. I stopped by the store around 4PM on a Saturday and the door was unlocked. i walked in rang the bell at the desk and no-one was there. I walk out and a guy from the establishment next-door says they're on a call but here's his card with the number a coupon for X (I forgot) percent off. I called and within an hour Matt (I think) showed up and did his thing and I was back in my house. Second time was I needed keys copied. I showed up around 11am on a Saturday and the door to the stored was locked. I then called thirty minutes later. Matt said if I can make it in before 1 when he has on-site calls. I showed up. Keys were copied and they all worked and I was on my merry way. Overall, from a service perspective they are skilled, responsive, courteous and professional. Five out of Five. Where I felt the need to unfortunately knock a star off is their information about their in-store availability. I think just a few small tweaks, notices on the door or scheduling transparency might do them some good. I can only imaging someone stopping by finding the door locked and moving on to the next business. read more

I had an emergency a while back and they actually came to be in less than an hour. It was so cool. I got locked out of my office and they were able to open the lock and install a new lock in minutes. I had trouble with my ignition switch on my vehicle. Called on a Sunday and made an appointment to have a tech meet me at my stranded vehicle the next day. Tech showed up 2.5 hrs late!!! (No call ahead of time to tell me.) He (Ricky) was excellent and was able to get my car started but there was an switch which needed to be ordered and would take a few days. While the tech service is excellent, the dispatch office is completely unprofessional. It took 3+ weeks to get my car finally repaired. The office does not answer phones professionally or identify to whom I am speaking. When they would answer the phones, instead of identifying themselves...they answer.. hello...Locksmith. when i ask who i am speaking to i typically got defensive responses.. such as .."Who's Asking?" I spoke to 3 people (Matt, Mike & Mike) who all gave me the run around and I could not get a straight answer on why it was taking so long. I would be very understanding if i felt i was being told the truth. It was not until I got to speak to Tim in week #4, that the car was finally repaired. Even Rick was surprised and couldn't understand why it took so long to get to me. Overall they seem experienced and know their job but their front office phone skills and customer service needs to be improved. read more

Once confirmed, I drove out to Long Island from Manhattan to meet them at my house for an appointment, and they never showed up. Called to find out what was going on, and was told that they are "on their way", so gave it another hour, and still a no show. Toplock people were excellent ..these are the guys , very nice .I ( thought) I lost the spare keyfob to my newish car..had a melt down (they're expensive keyfobs). I,ve been used to $2-3 Car keys before this car )1 extra would have cost almost $400 at the dealer. Checked online etc Re: buying the fob online,self programming it ( via you tube video) & having the manual key cut( glad i didn't do that .the programming was a little trickier & time consuming than expected when done, I would have been lost ) But had 1st called a few other locksmiths ( d.k. Any of them prior to this), got prices from $165 the lowest ,if I came to him , to just over $300 the highest 4 him to come to me.& prices in between for 1 spare key ..most of the guys I spoke to sounded ' dicey' , not toplock.& I was comfortable with toplocks website (& beware news video ) & their price was 2 Nd lowest to come to their dispatch office for a $20 discount on their over the phone Estimate for them to not have to send an auto locksmith to me ( about 10 min away , they asked me to wait a day, all their guys were out on jobs & call in the morning first to confirm an auto locksmith was there ,which was Fine with me ( most are out on jobs all day & trust me, the locksmiths do spend a lot of time looking for their locked out customers, I listened to the dispatchers) ..they gave me a very good ( ultimately the best) price when I said how much for 2 ?... these are very hardworking ,trustworthy young people.also gave me a 1 yr written warrantee & r my new fav local ' I need help' business.totally recommend them. Had an appt to get 4 door locks rekeyed between 12:00 and 2:00 today. Got a call at 1:20 that they were running late and would be here around 3. Not a problem. It is now 6:25 and no calls and no locksmith so I call and the guy that answered starts asking me what I wanted done and what town am I in but never asks my name or anything else even though I told him I've been waiting here since 12:00 and he was speaking to me like I was calling for the first time so I told him I want to cancel this request as I've been waiting 6+ hrs and this is ridiculous so he hangs up. Four minutes later I get a call from "Vin the locksmith" who asks me if I still want him to come. I told him I just called his office to cancel the appt after waiting 6 hours. He very nicely apologized and said he got busy. Sorry but no way to run a business. I'm busy too and I just wasted an entire day waiting on a no-show. read more

the guy i worked with seemed nice enough but they came out on 2 separate occasions. they charged me half up front and half later when the job was to be COMPLETED. said they'd be there on Sunday at 4/5 to get it done for me. left work early to accommodate and be able to have my car. all for them not to show up and me having to call and find out they wont be there until Monday. She said they would arrive early in the morning on Monday @9am i wake up for 9 am. no one shows up for 20 minutes, so i call the company and they said they'll be there for 5 instead with no heads up. so then i figure i can get some stuff done until 5 o'clock AND NOW they say they'll be there for 2:30. so i rush home hoping they can get it done this time and i can drive my car for the first time in a week. sit there with the tech for 35 minutes just for him to say the same thing he did the first time! he cant do it because the site is down. so i ask for the key so i can take my car directly to the dealer. his boss said that i cant have the key unless i pay another 80$ on-top of the 210$ i paid for him to do it in general. i informed him that they didn't preform the job i paid for and the key they're trying to give me is a 54.00$ aftermarket piece of junk ( first key when google searched) and isn't worth 290$ let alone for the horrible communication and poor coordination. not a great experience with them as a whole. although the technician seemed to understand my problem there was no way around me coughing up a stupid amount of money for a failed task and poor quality replacement. wouldn't recommend or work with again. read more
