These guys are great. I called Lock City and spoke to Lee. I needed locks changed in my house. One of his techs came and did the entire job in under two hours. The tech was professional and courteous. I had gotten another quote and Lee beat it no problem. He was very eager to make me happy, which he did. ​I found this company through Homeadvisor.com. Lee contacted me and quickly sent out a guy to do an estimate for a custom sliding door. I already had drawings and a parts list from a previous contractor that did a lot of work in my apt but was unable to complete the door. The quote of $3K that was given to me was more than I was willing to pay so I continued to look for another carpenter. Lee called and texted me according to my phone records 12 times after sending the guy out for the quote which I disregarded until he said we could work something out on the price. I replied that if he could do it for ​$2500 then we had a deal. He said yes immediately and said he would send someone out to take final measurements and a deposit. I told him that no deposit would be given until I had an invoice on company letterhead with the job description showing the total agreed upon price would be what he said as I had been screwed over by contractors before and learned my lesson. Two weeks later I was still empty handed. Lee kept promising that I would have the proposal in hand at the end of the day for days and days on end. He started making excuses such as the parts list I sent was too particular - even though I had my email proof that I specifically said it was a general guide to give an idea of what the other guy was going to use and obviously they didn't need to buy those exact parts. The only thing I asked to be done exactly as the drawing I already had was the design as the door needed to match the ceiling and chandelier woodwork fixture already installed. Asking for a specific design is the definition of a custom job! Lee kept making excuses about still not giving me a simple invoice with our agreed upon price. I have text after text message from him promising the invoice by the end of a day and he even sent out a new guy, Chazz to take final measurements and promised that Chazz would show up with the invoice in person. He showed up empty handed. And Chazz also proposed to build down sheetrock from the door frame in order to make the door smaller! When I thought about this and how bad it would look from the inside of the room, I called and told them it was unacceptable. I am not sure if they proposed this to spend less on materials? I finally had enough and decided to move on. Lee did not even bother to contact me to follow up. I guess I should be thankful that these guys did not really want this job because a friend recommended a licensed carpenter who has already started work on my door and I had it in writing immediately the price he quoted me which is a full $800 less than the $2500 Lee refused to put in writing. Lee and Chazz seemed like nice guys but should learn not to waste people's time if they are not serious or sure about taking on a custom job. No one put a gun to Lee's head and said he had to accept my counteroffer. The company's focus seems to be as locksmiths and should probably stay that way. read more
