Website shows STIHL SR200 for price of $479.99 and I called and they said they confirmed 2 in stock. I also asked for the price and they confirmed $479.99 and they also provided the price of the model up for SR200. I drove 30 min to purchase it and they asked if i would like them to test out the unit to ensure everting worked? I said yes and this is one of the reasons I like punching from them is they register for warranty, test and i support local business. Unit fired up, during checked he said total was $600ish? I immediately said the price was $479.99 and their website shows that price and that was the price given when i called. He asked if was still on sale and I said I have no idea but that why a called to confirm inventory and price. He asked who I spoke to and I did not get a name but he would find out who i spoke to. He found the person I spoke to and he said they can't honor the price he gave me for 479.99 because there was a miscommunication? I asked what the miscommunication was when he said what the price was 479.99? He stated they can't sell it at that price and walked away. What piss poor customer service not to honor the price they have on webpage and after confirming that was the correct price. This is bait and switch and I can understand not always updating your website but that's why I called and asked for the price and inventory. I rented a drum sander, orbital sander and edger from Too Gunn. I left my mower at outdoor power to have the gas tank replaced and have a tune up done,they said two to three weeks estimated time. nine weeks and many phone calls later I went to the shop to pick up the lawnmower,ready or not. Imagine my shock when they told me my blade adapter was broken,it was not broken when I brought it in.Service person told me I had the wrong blade on the mower,but did offer to show me the old blade. I told him that I been putting the same blade on that mower for 35 yrs.,he turned around and walked away. I will never go back there or recommend them to anybody again. I am looking for a residential mower and saw a sale on their website so I called to confirm and they representative said they didn't know anything about a sale and they were on order to come in later that week, I called back a few days later to confirm before I drove in and they put me on hold and never got back to me. POORLY MANAGED Bad business practices usually result from poor management and unfortunately, this describes Austin Outdoor Power. I went in early summer to look at zero turn mowers. The employee, first initial "J" was friendly and informative. I called a few days later and told "J" I decided on a particular mower not in stock. He told me I need to put down a deposit and could do it over the phone. I asked if there was any cost to use a credit card. He said NO. I then asked is there any additional charge if I use the card for the entire purchase. He again replied NO. He also said it would take 2-3 weeks to get the mower. Long story short, here are problems in dealing with this company: · They charged me a 4% fee for putting the deposit on a credit card. · Jeff Oden, sales manager, told me I was quoted an old price and they wouldn't honor my price. He also said he would check with the manufacturer on availability of the item. He never called back · 2 weeks later I called and Mr Oden told me they wouldn't get the mower in until after the first of the year 2022. Wish they had told me sooner. · I requested a return of my deposit and he wanted to charge me another 4% unless I came in person to collect. I balked at that to say the least. The company is either tight for money or they don't understand customer service, or both. I expect honest and ethical practice when I do business so, I won't do business with them again. On my initial visit today, I felt like I was not going to get waited on - perhaps because I was a woman. I felt intimidated by the non-verbal demeanor of the employees and the atmosphere. There was no real line to figure out who was first in line. I got the part and went home. Alas, it was not the right part! I went back to the store to exchange the part for the right one. I was entering the store for the second time today and had opened door to get in - but this uniformed man got into my personal space, could have almost knocked me down. I called two days in advance and reserved a mortar mixer, when I showed up it was needing work because they said they left it out in the rain and the carb needed cleaning. They called around Austin for me and couldn't find me a working replacement so they told me they would fix it if I waited 30 minutes. I said sure and asked them to give me call when it was ready. Two hours later no one had called me, so I called them and they said it was ready. I picked it up and took it to the job. The machine never started, it never worked, and then I had to wait 20 minutes just to drop it off. I will never use this company again, and wouldn't recommend anything about their equipment, service, or operations to anyone else. read more

The name is the best . The people behind the counter they are only interested in sales. After you buy something it is hard for them to do a good job in repairs. They always want to say that your warranty does not work or does not cover. The Spanish speakers are a bunch of crows not profesional not helpful their service is rude. Every little thing on repair they tell you that you have to talk to the owner and the owner is just like them. Hungry for money. On my last experience I have to return my equipment 4 time just to be fix it the right way . The last time I spoke with the owner and she was rule also trying to avoid my repair under my warranty . Horrible customer service! Come here if you want to be talked down to and pushed aside. We initially contacted them as a reference from our warranty provider. As we were explaining who we were and what we wanted, Jeff or Deff (not sure since he mumbled his name) constantly cut in during our conversation and kept pushing us to come in, get charged $50 dollars for something we weren't even sure would be covered under our insurance. As we were trying to ask clarifying questions, this employee began to catch an attitude on top of his rude behavior. To defuse the situation my brother said "please don't cut me off as I'm trying to explain, I'm getting frustrated, actually can you put someone else on the line?" to which he was replied with "This is America I don't care if you're getting frustrated" and denied us access to another employee. I am appalled this comment would come out of a store representative and also disgusted at how this employee carried himself throughout our interaction. read more

Had my ZT 42 in for service for the belt drive took them two times to fix it and now after getting it home can get it to go faster than ideal. Keeps cutting off. When you call for help you get smart comments and no suggestion to help fix the problem other than bring it back. They had it twice over a 6 week period and still not fixed just more money. I brought in my Stihl chainsaw to be fixed and was very disappointed. They quoted me $230. I spent $25 in parts and in an hour and was able to fix it myself. They also told me it had the wrong spark plug in it, which was completely untrue. I certainly will not come back for repairs equipment rental or to purchase Stihl products. I would take your Small engine repairs somewhere else *Update. Your response made no sense. Yes I brought some chains and bars in several years ago. But that is an out right lie that I did not come in in March 2018 with my chainsaw. I left it there for two days and had the exact experience I stated. These guys are a bunch of crooks - mostly ownership and the service manager. They give you a price for a tune up and you will ultimately pay at least 2X what you expect when you pick up. They decide to "fix" everything they see fit to replace, WITHOUT a call to the customer, and bill you for the extra parts and labor. I don't know whether to hate on Gravely or Austin Outdoor Power more. I bought a $5000 zero turn Gravely here a year ago. Within 4 months it was backfiring, surging, and dying every 10 meters. Took it in to AOP for repair...took 3 weeks and wasn't even repaired properly. It worked marginally better for a few weeks...got us into winter. Took it out this spring and it's as bad as last fall, with the grass growing like crazy. AOP's answer to our complaint? Bring it in for repair. Right, 3 more weeks and it won't be fixed this time either? I don't think so. And is a new $5000 mower covered under warranty? Oh no, of course it isn't. These guys will treat new customers well, get your money for the purchase and leave you in the lurch with the thing won't work. And by the way, I called a mobile mower repair guy who was able to diagnose and tell us how to fix the clogged fuel line over the phone, without seeing the machine or charging us anything. This shows how hopeless AOP's repair shop is. read more

I recently purchased a Honda push mower from Austin Outdoor Power after purchasing/exchanging and ultimately returning two new in-box mowers of the same model from Home Depot. The mowers from Home Depot were damaged and totally unusable right out of the box. After calling several different Depot locations to check availablity of the mower, talking to no one with knowledge, and getting hung-up on in the process, I reached out to Austin Outdoor Power to inquire about possible warranty repairs which was how I found them. They recommend I return the mower and get my money back. I took my business to AOP expecting to pay more for the same mower from a local implement company. They matched Home Depot's price and even oiled it up and put a tank of gas in it to ensure it worked and was running properly. They also provided me with tips on how to keep it in good running order. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. While I have not yet had to have the mower serviced, I would highly recommend using this local business for purchase of new equipment. I used TGER for the first time this weekend. Rented a 6" chipper. I showed up on Saturday morning to pick it up and it was ready as agreed. They were really busy, but the employees were chipper (pun intended) and professional. I got the chipper to the work site and everything performed as expected. Brought it back Monday morning with an easy turn in process. They even offered a Veteran discount of 10%, which I wasn't expecting, but glad to receive. After researching my needs for a new mower, for over a month...I started shopping the local dealers to find what I wanted. I went to several and was either put off my extremely high and unexplainable pricing, horrible customer service or bad location. That was...until I found Austin Outdoor Power! I walked in and was immediately greeted by Ben, a very friendly and knowledgeable salesman. I already had a specific Gravely ZT HD mower in mind, so we cut right to the chase. Ben gave me an excellent deal, even walking me to the back to show me the brand new unit that would be uncrated and built, just for me. Ben also registered my unit for the warranty, which is a huge convenience since an extra 2 years was included for free (part of a March 2017 promo) and I may have forgotten to register it myself. While working with Ben, I also met the owner of the business...another pleasant experience and it maintained the professionalism of the encounter. I can tell from my brief experience here that the service after the sale will also be excellent! My mower and blower needed service so I ran them over to Austin Outdoor Power on a Saturday afternoon. The gentleman at the desk was friendly and offered to help me take the mower out of my car. The mower needed general service and the blower had a broken choke lever. When I showed him the blower he said that the part was a stock item but that they were out of it and then explained to me how easy it was to fix myself so that I didn't need to pay them for the service. He said it would be 3-5 days for the service to be complete and on day 4 I received a call that the mower was ready. When I arrived they promptly brought the mower out and helped me load it into the car and gave me the part I needed to repair the blower. All in all this was a great service experience. I would highly recommend Austin Outdoor Power and hope that this type of service is a daily occurrence. read more

My mower's pullstring was stuck when used only for the second time. it was obviously still under warranty. I sent it to outdoor power because that's where tech support told me to. First of all, they charged me a $25 "deposit for warranty", to cover the cost in the case warranty cannot be applied. This sounded ridiculous to me but was I gonna reload the 100lb machine back to my car and find another dealer? A few days later, I was informed there's no oil in the engine, and the lady behind the counter said "the machine is totally trash." And since this was not under warranty, my copayment was also gone. the mower was only used one time, and before that both me and my contractor checked the engine oil to ensure there's right amount in there. Austin Outdoor Power did right by me, except for the part where my mower now works and I have to mow the yard again. Our two year old lawn mower suddenly wouldn't turn over, it would crank and crank and crank but not start. Fortunately, I used the situation to throw up my hands and declare that I could not mow that day, and went inside to have a frosty beverage and watch sports on tv. I successfully used this strategy for a couple of weeks before my wife pointed out that our back yard grass was approaching a height which could hide a cupacabra, thereby endangering our new puppy. I exhausted my knowledge of small engines in about 5 minutes and started looking for repair shops nearby. A few calls revealed that every single one of them said "A week to 10 ten days" for turnaround, so apparently I'm not the only one challenged by engine repair. I decided on AOP because they were relatively close and the person who answered the phone was the most pleasant and professional of the three places I called. I found it easily enough, cracked a few jokes about my lack of mechanical skillz and reticence to do annual maintenance on the very expensive piece of equipment I now had to get repaired, and was on my way. They were nice, patient and said its probably just dirty and would need to be tuned up - they'd call me if it was going to be above $75. Fair enough.... A week later I get the call to come pick it up. $32 - Woo Hoo. I get it home and it started the first time and every time since. Damn it. read more
