It was a bit difficult getting ahold of them to get signed up, but RJ did return my call and we had a long conversation about the classes and a bunch of other interesting stuff. The class itself was at a location that requires an off-road vehicle to gain access, but it's a well-run facility. I was mentally prepared for an advanced civilian self-defense-type class, but the instructors took it beyond that. Two instructors and four persons in the class ... nice ratio! Looser environment than Front Sight used to be, and with a lot more movement when engaging targets. In addition to moving, got to practice strong- and support-side actions, with some competitions toward the end. Busy, productive, informative, and productive two days. read more

Finished the all ladies course today and left feeling confident in my firearm handling. Sam and George were knowledgeable, personable and made sure to hammer home the importance of knowing how to operate your weapon safely without it feeling like a burden. I have just finished my first course with Top-gun. I will return for advanced classes. Top Gun instructors are also top professionals. They are knowledgeable, professional, methodical, and do and teach way more than what I initially expected. I left this weekends training with a deep feeling of appreciation for what these instructors do and what the instructors did for me. The instructors patiently observed, instructed, corrected, and were most patient and encouraged me every step of the way. The most important part of this training was the incredible safety procedures they put in place on the range. An key part of the safety and training was the individual instruction I had... there was always a watchful eye on what I was doing. The safety procedures are drilled into you deeply so that once you leave the class you know how to safely practice and increase your level of safety while at the same time increasing your level of protection. I've been shooting pistols for over 40 years, but I still got my money's worth out of the Basic Pistolcraft course. I'll admit that the classroom instruction didn't offer any new information to me, BUT when we went out to the range, the coaches were able to help me see and correct some inefficient habits I'd developed, as well as teach me a few tips that significantly improved my accuracy and speed. I intend to enroll in the follow-up course in a few months after I practice and solidify what I learned in the basic range session. read more

I took the shotgun series of classes here. I found it to be a great and memorable experience. The instructors were excellent with extensive experience such as being retired SWAT. The range isn't too big, but it's perfect for the class sizes. It may be a good idea to check the maps first. To get there I had to drive pass rocky roads that may or may not contain a river depending on season. Then I drove on dirt roads to finally reach the destination. If you miss the sign then you will end up at lytle creek firing range. It is also a good idea to bring lots of water, sunscreen, and hat especially during the summer months as it gets really hot. You also shoot a lot so you need to be well rested. It isn't easy lugging a heavy shotgun the whole day. Shotgun 210 beginner class was great. wasn't expecting to learn as much as I did for an intro class. You will be learning tactical shooting methods right away. The classroom time is concise. It is focused on defensive shotgun use. Time isn't wasted watching dozens of funny gun fail videos for instance. I shot maybe 120 birdshot and handfuls of buck and slug. Shotgun 220 was more fun than 210. You learn new skills like new shooting positions, use of cover, shooting on the move, and shooting multiple targets. There are also more steel targets to shoot at. In conclusion I highly recommend these classes if you want to learn about defensive shotgun shooting. For the money, it is well worth it. read more

That was the first time for my wife, she was very nervous, anyways the instructors were so helpful and courteous. They treated the students in a great extent of professional manner. I have attended 3 classes at Top Gun ( Pistolcraft 110, 120 and 130 ) and highly recommend that you chose them if you are looking to get some top notch training from some very kowledgable instructors (Fred, Steve, Seth and Ralph) . Don't think that these classes are basic...they are not. They build upon the basics (Hey, the top ranked shooter are the one's who have mastered the basics) and take your shooting and tactical awareness to a different level. The scenarios are challenging and fun. You'll shoot a lot! The instructors pick up on the littlest details and will help you fix those issues and not just have you cruise through the class making the mistakes over and over. This isn't a school only interested in the numbers. They want to know that when you leave you have gotten the most out of you training. I went in to this training barely knowing how to load ammunition into magazines but left feeling confident and ready to use my Glock. The trainers were very knowledgable and funny. They had us complete many different exercises to help us become comfortable and confident when handling a pistol. I definitely recommend anyone who has no experience with guns to take this training. I took the training which was for both men and women combined. The all women training wasn't until the end of July so didn't want to wait. My wife and I took an entry level pistol class at Top Gun. It was a great experience. The course taught us how to actually use and be comfortable with a gun. The three instuctors, Ron, Sam and Mike were great guys and very knowlegeable. They offered a lot of information about the laws pertaining to gun use. This was a real shooting class. At the end of the day we had each shot 250 rounds of ammo. My wife came away from the class with an enthusiasm for shooting. We can't wait to take our next class from Top Gun. Our instructors Steve, George, Ralph, Seth and Kacey are very experienced and knowledgeable. I went to Top Gun yesterday with my son in law and we each took our new Glocks. Wow these gentlemen trained us and gave us so much confident. You could see everyone from the 22 year old Kate, to the 78 year old Mike grow throughout the day in confidence with their firearms. The tactical class is a magnificent learning experience. I had signed up for the all female class. It was nice to join a class knowing other woman are like me, there to learn and know how to use the firearm the correct and safe way. Before I start my review about the class, I want to help future yelpers how to get to the Training Centre. I am a visual person and like to give directions using landmarks. You will turn right once you see the sign like the images from the other yelpers had posted and go across the dry or wet river bed. There are LOTS of rocks. I highly recommend driving your SUV or truck if you own one. You can make it through with a sedan if you know how to go around it slowly. I was told there are people who was able to make it with their Prius and mini copper. Once you pass that river bed on the left side there is a dirt road with a 15mph sign. Take that road for about one mile and a half and the training center is on the left side. The directions was not clear and I had ended up in the middle of the dry creek. I was VERY lucky to had been able to get out. One of the ladies I met going back was stuck in the rocks and dirt. She was not able to get out. I took her to the training Centre and she had called AAA auto to come assisted her. One of the instructor (Ralf) was kind to drive her back and stayed with her till AAA arrived. I was 30mins late due to being lost after crossing the creek, but arrived just in time to catch up with everyone else. Fred was leading the class with two other instructors assisting him. We all had a handout and he reviewed it in detail with us. The 25 page handout were PowerPoint thumbnail with a place on the right side to take notes if needed. We had breaks in between to make sure we all stayed hydrated and bathroom breaks (they call it the "blue lagoon"). In detail Fred and the other instructors went through the proper way of checking the firearm, making sure it's clear and not loaded. We learned to load the magnum manually and with the quick loader. All of the instructors were patient. One of the ladies was left handed and it was hard for her to lock at the safe mode. Fred and Ralf were looking for ways to make it work for her. This class is great for any first time females. I highly recommend it!!!! They do have different level classes on their website for men and women. read more

I just took the Ladies Class. Never shot a gun and pretty much afraid of guns, so I thought the best way to get past that was to take a lesson. I will admit I had high anxiety going into the class. The class and all the instructors were great! They went at our pace in teaching the class, making sure we all felt comfortable before we went to the next step. My biggest fear was taking that first shot as I didn't know what too expect. I was afraid when it came down to it I wouldn't be able to shoot it. But NO, the knowledge & structure of the class built up my confidence and when it came down to it, I didn't even think about it. I was so focused on listening to the commands, I did it! I left there feeling much more comfortable with guns and looking forward to my next class at Top Gun. read more

There were 4 Instructors for 12 students today in my class which provided a safe environment and plenty of individual attention to often overlooked flaws like stance, grip position, sighting specifics, and other areas where minor adjustment or additional focus will improve your overall performance and provide enhanced capabilities.
