Passed the course, then passed the NREMT 2 weeks later on my first try at 70 questions! Highly recommended. Wanted to write a review because in researching EMT schools, one might be put off by some of the negative reviews here. Like a lot of things, there may be some kernals of truth in them. For example, it is true if you take the online course, it's up to you to be self-disciplined and put in the work. I admit when I first started, I completed several chapters right away, but then life happened, and I paused for several months before coming back to finish the class. However, this is the same as real life: when you go to the gym or have to complete continuing education hours on your own, you won't necessarily have someone reminding you or motivating you. No one is going to be as invested in your future as you. I saw some other people say they have issues with communications. It's true that there have been some times I've had to wait a few days to get and email or phone call back, but how is that different for a lot of other cases. When you are applying to Fire Departments or EMT companies, you have to be the one to 'hurry up and wait,' be able to have some patience, and be able to respectfully and politely follow-up as needed. Finally, in regards to the NREMT, I studied the course material very hard, used third-party websites and apps to prep for the NREMT, and the exam was different from both the course and the other tools I used. In fact, it was the psychomotor exams that SoCal EMT used that were surprisingly very helpful: you have to memorize a very specific order and way of doing things per SoCal EMT and NREMT, and that helped me in my exam very much. Out of everything I learned, I think I'll be relying on their psychomotor scenarios the most in the field. On another positive note, SoCal EMT worked for me, as someone who is older with life responsiblities and a job. I didn't have time to go into an in-person class at a set time every few days (and potentially fail a whole course for missing one class or being late), and SoCal EMT gave me the opportunity to study for the EMT on my own time and my own pace, and set me up for success to pass the NREMT. And it doesn't hurt that they have reasonable fees; other California online or hybrid courses I see are easily double or triple what SoCal EMT charges, and in today's economy, I think we all need all the help we can get. read more

this place is a scam! i paid my $250 deposit. i was waiting and waiting for my course log in- within 24 hours. obviously that never came. i tried calling and they blocked me! i called off a *67 (private number) phone number- which went through- which tells me my personal number was blocked. i have also came to the location, to which the doors were locked. i cannot stress this enough- RUN. unless you want to waste $250. read more

I called SoCal EMT/Fire Training as I am trying to determine how to recertify my lapsed EMT-B and I was blown away by how helpful Kim was. I just missed the refresher course meaning I wouldn't be taking it with them yet she still took a good 15 minutes to explain the entire recertification process. She saved me in so many ways with the tips she had. If the rest of the staff is anything like Kim, o would highly recommend going with this company. Reviews made this place sound great, but the online-hybrid version of the EMT course was an absolute waste. I expected to teach myself almost entirely, given the nature of online-hybrid, but I didn't realize that there would be NO input whatsoever from the "instructor" (literally, I never met him nor spoke with him in any way). You read the textbook, take your quiz, move on to the next chapter. The two EMTs running the four hour practical class were disorganized, unprepared and inefficient. At the end of the day, I knew how to deliver a baby, but NEVER LEARNED HOW TO TAKE VITALS. Communication throughout the entire course was lacking - sure, the people were nice, but I was down in California from Washington to do this course and could have finished a month earlier if they'd told me I could start my hands-on training after finishing Chapter 20 instead of the entire textbook, as stated in the instructions. The ride-along portion was a disaster. My first placement was fine, but the 12 hours I spent with Schaefer Ambulance were an absolute waste. I sat in their lobby in the dark for an hour before someone came for me, then went on one call and spent the rest of the day watching the World Cup and sitting at a table while the EMTs stared at their phones and offered to falsify my hours for me. The company is going under. Whhyyy place students with them? Did I pass the NREMT on the first try? Hell yeah I did. But it was 100% because of the hours and hours I spent studying on my own. Only good things to say about SoCal EMT training! I felt their content prepared me for the NREMT, just passed on my first try. I took their course remotely during Covid so obviously ambulance ride alongs have been cancelled for all schools. They had me come in once to take the skills test and get my ambulance "contact" hours taking the BP and pulse on mannequins, as well as testing lung sounds via a bluetooth stethoscope. Since they have these options you get a full, rather than a provisional National EMT license. Content was thorough, price can't be beat and anytime you have a question Kim answers immediately and is beyond helpful! Great program- highly recommend! read more

I came across SoCal EMT/ Fire Training after I was dropped by another EMT institution for being more than an hour late on a "mandatory" day (I had a medical school interview on that same day and couldn't make it in class on time; there goes $1000 down the drain!). Yet, I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID!!!! First off, the course is extremely affordable. No one can beat that price. Second, the curriculum is super thorough. There was a bunch of new material that I learned which weren't mentioned by the previous institution. I felt fully prepared to take the NREMT exam. Third and most importantly, Mr. Robert and the rest of the team are incredibly helpful and want to see you succeed. They genuinely care about their students and they do everything in their power in order to ensure the successful completion of the course. Best of all, I passed my NREMT exam on the first try! This is a great training program with a couple of options for students with varying degrees of outside obligations. I chose the hybrid course, which allowed me to complete the didactic portion online and around my work schedule. The training and admin staff make themselves available for any questions or concerns you have, so even the remote learning option is not without guidance. When it comes time for your skills training and clinical rotations, the staff goes the extra mile to again accommodate their student's needs and schedules. Five stars! read more

Took the self paced course over the past seven months. Basically self taught as well, as they rely on the book for everything. Aren't very informative on what is needed to pass the final test going forward. For the price, i would say pay a bit extra for a better program. I took this course from February to May of 2018. I feel that Robert really knows what he's talking about and I do respect him. That being said I do not feel that the questions we were asked (on tests, quizzes, etc.) were NREMT orientated. I took the NREMT just 3 days after the class and felt ill prepared. i have taken this class twice and the first time the experience was in the fine range. Never again, if you want an actual organized class with people that arent trying to get you in and out with very little explanation on anything. Go anywhere but here. I was in their hybrid online class. When asking questions, responses take forever with sometimes no response at all. Was threatened to be dropped if i didnt finish my class 7 months before my original date. Which i was only told about because i emailed them wanting to take practice classes, which they responded that i received an email "quite awhile ago" which stated i had to be done by a certain date because they had to recertify their school. I never received such message. If i never contacted them i fully believe they would have droppedme with zero notice. Then I was completely dropped for a mistake made by writing down what my proctor stated to write during my emt ride along. Before the ride along i was given a packet that had little explanation when i asked how to fill it out they said just read it. If things are so cut throat dropped on a dime and that important then i believe a SCHOOL should take the time to explain "what if" situations. Instead they painted me to be someone im not With zero remorse or help. Stating that i falsified and said things that i did not say, but hey its their word against mine and they have my money so what do they care. Worked my a** off and left my job because of my passion in wanting to be in this field just to be out 700$ and 3 months of hard work. Stay away from so cal emt until they get their stuff together. This is not a review because i was dropped, its a review of the little compassion or help this place gives. If you are in the industry and need a refresher, maybe, because instead of teaching you, they just throw papers at you and say do it. read more

Where's the zero? This place deserves to be rated in the minus numbers. I've had two friends burned (pun intended) by the failures of the SoCal EMT Fire Training "school" to live up to their licensure agreement, by their failure to communicate with folks nearing the finish line for EMT certification, that they, our friends at SoCal, were losing their license. Not to put too fine a point on it, but with California burning and people needing all kinds of medical assistance in emergency circumstances, SoCal EMT should be doing everything in its power to support the many good, smart, dedicated people who are trying to help others. SoCal Emt is legit. The material is straight forward, Rob knows his shit and is willing to work with any issues if you communicate with him effectively. Most of y'all clearly don't know how to do that. He uses real life scenarios and NREMT styled questions to help you succeed. You actually have to study and read on your own to succeed as well (wow who would've thought). Also as with any contract you should read what the class entails along with any deadlines and payment information. If you can't handle the material or pace of this class then this field is most likely not for you (just stay watching Chicago fire). read more

BEWARE - SCAM! WORST EMT CLASS EVER. They lost their license because they misrepresented their qualifications (to be a school) while I was taking the class. But they didn't tell me anything, so I happily finished all requirements well within the original deadline only to be refused my course completion certificate. I am now retaking the course, completely from scratch with another provider. I know this class looks nice and easy, but its not worth it to have to do all the work twice! BEWARE! Some people commented in other reviews that Robert will communicate with you if you are upfront. FALSE. They rarely replied to emails, rarely answered their phone, and contradicted themselves. I did read the contract, which gave me 365 days from beginning the course to complete it. I finished within 6 months, but they refused to authorized my course completion because they LOST their state license for illegally representing their qualifications WHILE I was taking the class. read more

I took this course over a year ago and yet passed my national registry. The instructor ( Robert ) is very knowledgeable about the material hes teaching and uses his own personal experience as examples or he finds way to make it as easy to understand. Robert does want you to succeed! Also, you cant beat the price for the course and the instructor that your getting! I highly highly recommend anyone that wants to become an EMT to attend this course! I'm glad i did! That being said, you have to do your part in studying the material and take your questions to class. read more

I really did enjoy taking this training/class here. I was completely new to the medical field and the instructors really took it to another level of helping me understand everything that was needed to know. One thing I can say is that they will help you as much as they can, BUT you have to ask for the help. It all matters on your motivation and drive to want to be an EMT or even to get the cert to build into something else within that field of desire. I highly recommend this course for anyone who is interested in this field. On top of everything else you make some really nice and helpful friends in class that can also help you learn. beware....this is a scam!! this joke of a school is owned/operated by robert & kim ethridge, rancho cucamonga, calif. they took my money and said i had 364 days to complete the program, i have all my paperwork to back up all of my claims. 364 would have been nov. 1st, 2017. went to login to my class on aug. 15th and it has completely disappeared. these people are crooks and i have been trying to contact them since then and have gotten zero response!!! i'm sure that robert eldridge's credentials are fake!!! since i have gotten no response i have now gotten an attorney and am starting legal action against them. i am also in the process of notifying any and all entities (irs, bbb, nremt, state and local agencies, firefighting, and ems agencies, along with too many more to list, of their fraudulent and despicable actions. 10 months of hard work down the drain plus the schools fee, just gone overnight! i hope they are reading this because i will not let this go without satisfactory resolution! these people are nothing more than common thieves in the night, and i am prepared to do whatever it takes to expose them, all they had to do was return a simple phone call and it would not have escalated to this point!! robert & kim ethridge, and anyone else connected to this scam, you are now on notice, this is far from over!!! you can run and hide but the truth will out!!!! read more
