had my third scan here at 10w6d. first two scans were perfect and felt reassured by the tech who…read moretalked us through the scans both times. today, i got a different tech and she didn't explain anything which created more anxiety. she took the CRL but didn't tell us what baby was measuring. i had to ask her which was so odd given that we schedule these appointments to see if baby's growth is progressing. she was pretty quiet the whole time even though baby was measuring on target and fast beating heartbeat could be seen. as a tech, i expect you to explain what we are seeing, "this is baby's head, this is baby's belly, baby is measuring..." i didn't go to ultrasound tech school so i'm relying on you to tell me. anyway, perhaps she saw something concerning? now i have a week to worry until my NT scan. also, when the appt ended she told my husband and i to wait in the waiting area while she prints the photos. waited about 5-10 minutes which made my nerves skyrocket. apparently the printer wasn't working? hmm idk...perhaps we just got a tech that isn't as experienced but this appt left me with more anxiety. i took a video during the appt and there were multiple opportunities to take a still image while baby was in the perfect position. instead we got two very poor photos. i may continue coming here to see baby in between OB appts because i do really believe this imaging center is very well run and the promos are great. but i do hope that i get the same tech i got the first two times. i believe she might be the owner or lead tech.

What started as a positive and enjoyable experience gradually became more challenging for him. He began to struggle--regressing at times, crying during lessons, and frequently reaching for us for comfort. At one point, we were asked to step inside to help him focus without distraction. It was heartbreaking to see how difficult it had become for him, and after some tough weekends, we were close to giving up. However, Rene, Dave and their team encouraged us to stay consistent and trust the process. We took their advice, and within a couple of weeks, everything changed, he began enjoying the water again. Now, at almost 2 years old, he's moved up to the beginner level. He gets so excited that we have to remind him to walk around the pool instead of running in! Watching him progress, splash, kick, and make friends has made weekends fun again. Rene, Dave, and their team are incredible coaches who truly care. They didn't give up on our son and made sure we didn't either. I highly recommend RSL--they are knowledgeable, experienced, and genuinely want the best for every child. I've seen similar experiences with other kids, and my advice is the same: trust the process. The team is not only highly trained but also warm and welcoming--we've even found two babysitters there whom our son absolutely loves!

Things I liked: Your child will SWIM. I think my kids legs…read morefelt like rubber the first day because the philosophy here in both the intermediate and advanced is to just keep swimming! The pool is huge and the instructors send them back and forth over and over! Endurance seems to be the main philosophy. Some of the instructors are very engaging, overall everyone is pretty friendly! Things I noticed Safety is not a huge priority. There is no one on deck keeping an eye out for things the instructors may miss. The first day of class, and multiple after, my kids instructor walked into the building telling the other instructor of the other class to "keep an eye" to which he just kind of laughed and went back to the class he was teaching. Meanwhile she had 4 swimmers in the pool in other lanes behind and the instructor of the other class was faced away from them the entire time. That was my 7 year olds first or second day in the class. I had seen this sort of thing a lot, their instructor would chat with a students mom who was seated in the upper level, she'd face away from the students and just chat. By the 4th class I was ready to let the office know, but then the owner came outside, and held a conversation with the instructor the same way, her back away from the swimmers. My swimmer had been introduced to all of the strokes but I enrolled him to improve his form. He'd taken other classes where there was an emphasis on that. What I found is that there is very little instruction in the advanced class, the students are sent on back and forth several times but only upon request will they be critiqued or given better techniques. It is more like someone standing there somewhat keeping an eye on them and telling them to swim 400 or what not. At one point they had the owner, and at another, her husband and like I mentioned at another point, the other instructor in the other class, "take over" with instructions like "they're doing kickbaord" or "have them do bla" They are not very organized. First day of class the instructor was 5 minutes late. After that the advanced class had multiple people take over. The intermediate class had a lot more consistency, but one of the days Alexis (she did a great job) had to ask the owners husband where her secondary was. She came out a few minutes later , while the class was sorta on hold Things I'm not sure on: The young kids aren't taught to rest float. I've liked other places teach this, in the case that the child knows how to swim but doesn't have energy to get back to shore, or the edge of a pool for whatever reason. I once almost drowned as a kid in a pool right in the middle, I had slowly but surely run out of energy and not noticed til I couldn't keep my head above water. My brother pushed me to the edge. That being said, the rest float is a hard position to get into, so I kinda understand why they don't teach it‍ Overall, i think my kids are stronger swimmers and I'd possibly come back next summer since I trust my kids and I'm keeping an eye the entire time. Its $35 for 30 minutes (so 8 classes comes out to $280) Alexis was very encouraging in the intermediate class and each of the intermediate instructors really pushed the kids, and encouraged them, which I really appreciated:) oh and one more thing, I loved that at the intermediate level, there are two instructors to 4 students! That's a really nice ratio

Ms. Kelly and her staff at OTDS were the complete opposite. They never made us feel like his struggles were a burden. They knew crying in the first few days was totally normal and worked with us as a team to help him adjust. He did cry for the first few weeks, but the staff showed so much love, patience, and compassion. Ms. Kelly is also very communicative and the school has an app where parents can see pictures and videos from class. It's the sweetest thing to get updates of the kids doing art, story time, music, or just playing together. The rest of the year turned out amazing. OTDS is such a fun and nurturing environment. They do holiday celebrations, invite parents to events, have music time, outdoor play, sensory and pretend play, water play in the summer, and even a little garden. All of the teachers are wonderful with the kids, and you can tell Ms. Kelly is really careful about who she hires. Because of the growth and confidence our son gained at OTDS, he started public school this year and had a great first week. We're so grateful for everything the school gave him and highly recommend them to other families.

One nice thing is that you make your schedule a month at a time but you can easily reschedule a class by canceling at least an hour before. I've had many weeks where I realize that a conflict would mean we'd miss, I go on the app, cancel the class and wait for a coach/time frame that I like, to come available and then sign up, sometimes an hour before that class starts! Plus you never lose the makeups! We've found some of our favorite coaches this way! Actually, the reason I even thought to leave another review was because we happened to makeup a class the other day and it was with a coach we'd never had before and my kids RAVED about him. Bradley was intentional, patient, and gave real feedback that I watched work! We were SO impressed with his instruction!!! That's the other thing that I find superior to many other swim lessons I've done I get to see everything, right up close... in air conditioning, relatively comfortable red chairs, with music, and 3 feet plus glass between me and my kiddos... I love this!!! I can watch them with no splashing, no loud echoey noise, just comfortable space to see my kids learn and excel. Great advice I got, was to use makeups to find coaches that you like and I'd say it's pretty good advice given that not all coaches are a good fit for your kiddo, so if you get paired with one, be open to trying others!
