They do not have an atm available. You have to drive down the road awhile, to find an atm. This place also closes early! It closes at 3:30pm. So, you have to get there early. Otherwise it isn't worth your time. There's no service or Internet. If you are glued to your phone, this isn't the place for you. No cell service. No social media. No phone calls. It's an outdoor shooting range, in the desert of San Bernardino. It's gets very hot. Too hot for my blood. I need trees, shade and air conditioning. I like the appeal of the outdoor environment, but the heat really makes it not enjoyable. I guess it is not too bad if you don't mind driving to the middle of nowhere to shoot. read more

I've been to a few shooting ranges, indoor, outdoor and this is the one I keep going back to. You will too. As a novice shooter I don't expect much from a range vs just go and shooting at targets, but after going to a few I now know amenities is nice to have and Lytle has it. They have wooden beams that you can put a 2x1 (i believe) target stand in. Some are raggity so you have to put a shim or just stick a rock to stablize it. They also set up steels for you to shoot. You can also bring your own steels. Certain areas have a patio cover and i see them building more covers as well. Lytle has quite a lot of different range lengths. I believe 100y, 200y, and 300y. An area with a bunch of steels that you can try out, but I believe thats an extra $10. RSO are chill and knowledgeable so if you have a question they are happy to help. You do have to pick up your own shells, they have a broom and occasionally RSO will help. They have portapotties that don't reek. You can bbq and make a whole day out of it. There is no time limit. Unfortunately, the price did go up. it is $35 a head now. Even with a price increase, this is still will be my go to spot. read more

I stopped by today and ended up shooting all day. The range officers are extremely nice, warm, and welcoming. They're not just there to enforce rules, they're part of your experience. I had an unusual jam today and one of the range officers came right over to help. The guys shooting next to me were former Marines and they couldn't have been friendlier. My wife also took a class here today and absolutely had a blast. You can purchase clays for your shotgun and targets on site. Safety is handled exceptionally well here. The range sells barrel flags, which are a great way to build solid safety habits for yourself and others. I really appreciate how organized the staff is throughout the day, calling clear ceasefires and explaining when lanes are hot or when it's safe to go downrange to change or adjust targets. Everything is clean, coordinated, and very well managed. Honestly, it's one of the best ranges I've been to so far. There are portable restrooms available, and it's worth noting that cell reception in the area is basically non existent, so plan ahead. Bring your own lunch (propane BBQs are allowed) and make a day out of it. The range is located about 11 miles up in the mountains. Just follow Sierra all the way up and you'll get there with no issues. Highly recommend this place. Great people, great atmosphere, and top notch safety. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Taught a class here once. Prior to the class we coordinated with the range for targetry, and our needs, the range assured us that all of our requests were not a problem and everything would be taken care of prior to the start of training. Not only was the range staff not accommodating on the day of, nothing was in place that was discussed previously. The range staff was openly hostile and made us clean up brass everyday. They delayed opening the gate so that we could not setup The range priorities to class on many of the training days and shut down the training 2 hours early on several of the training days. I train all over the country and this range has hands down been the worst range I have conducted a class on, in short I will never return. It's a shame because the location is pristine and secluded. Range staff really ruined the place. Just my 2 cents folks YMMV read more

Nice range located in the San Bernardino National Forest area. We had a private range for our group so that was nice, however, there was no shade or cover, so we had to bring our own EZ ups and tarps to cover the area, and our own tables to accommodate our party. The site is wheelchair accessible (if you can handle all the rocks and gravel) and they even had an ADA porta potty for us to use. The last couple miles of the road leading to the range is terrible...there are HUGE DEEP potholes everywhere! I'm amazed that no one has fixed them. I had to drive slow and swerve a lot to avoid them. Luckily there isn't a lot of cars on the road, so I stayed mainly in the middle. read more

Lytle Creek is a really great range and It's a few miles towards the mountains. You get to shoot all day on the cheap and they have multiple sections for different type of events or shooting. They have their own road, so it may be dusty on the way in and out. read more

Never held one, fired one, owned one, etc. Recently made my first purchase and ventured to the Lytle Creek Gun Range to gain some experience handling and using my firearm. The staff were incredibly helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. I learned a lot in a short period of time and feel so much more comfortable with firearms and range etiquette. Thought I should update for 2025 since most of the reviews are old and inaccurate. Nice range-clean and organized. RSOs are cool. Benches are in good condition and covered. Road up to Lytle Creek is paved and only saw 2 small potholes. The only things I didn't like are 1. the lack of obvious marked shooting lanes--people next to you can and do shoot your targets accidentally. 2. Better than route 66 if you want to shoot over 100yards but worse for anything less than 100yds. 3. They have a laughable steel gallery--seriously it's hilariously inadequate read more

I've been coming to this range since I was a kid and it has always been a great experience! I just recently went there again a couple of days ago and had the range to myself lol. The range itself is pretty clean, there's plenty of space to shoot and separate ranges depending on what you're shooting. Currently, the price is $25 per person for the day but honestly that's a pretty solid price. Only thing I would say is be prepared for a lot of dust, and drive carefully as there are a lot of potential holes on the road leading up to the range haha read more

Ok, so the good - staff and RSO's are great - never an issue. The fact that you can shoot steel is also a plus. Now the not so good - the condition of the shooting benches not so good. Rickety worn out benches and benches not large enough to adequately support large rifles - precision rifle work is a pain at this range. Range yardage out to 300 yards but seldom open unless it's recently rained - 200 yards is usually open most of the time. I get it - fires can ruin it forever; however, when you're shooting cast lead bullets the danger of sparking a fire is about 0% - so allow people shooting cast lead bullets to shoot your 300 yard range. I have been going to this range for years and Have seen prices rise from $14.00 a day to the current $35 a day. Now, I get it, staff need to get paid, yada, yada, yada, but a jump from $25.00 a day to $35.00 a day is a little steep considering that no physical improvements have been made to shooting benches or the range steel targets which are usually in such poor condition that I bring my own steel dingers and use their frame to hang them. Overall, I'd rank Lytle Creek Firing line as a high priced range for the quality of the facility. For rifle work, my vote goes for Burro Canyon Shooting Range. It's $20.00 per day and I bring my own target. The benches on the rifle range at Burro Canyon are larger, more stable, and are better maintained. read more

A great place ! Super friendly staff and very courteous. Very organized and maintained range. Went with some family and had a great experience. Used there long range at 100,200,300 yards. I really liked it and had a great time. The front desk lady was very nice - this is what makes the world of difference to me. I've gone to several ranges and usually very stuck up people running the counter but they were kind and respectful here. Afterwards we chatted with the range safety guy on our side of the range and had a wonderful conversation. Use common sense and safety guys if your safe and make every else feel safe you will have a good time. This is simple but a good range. Not many steel targets available and mostly all of them have seen better days, a lot of wear and tear. Bring your own stands and steel targets like I do. I shot my brother's Ruger .30-06 and I took my Colt .556. Staff is helpful and friendly. Basically go there because it's very economical. I remember when someone would say "Let's go to Lytle Creek to go shooting". I would say "Hell, are you Crazy?" I use to go there about 25 years ago and it was Wild Wild West Crazy. People would bring their AK's and all kinds of arsenal and shoot at bottles and whatever targets they could rig up. I remember the days I would run out to put up a target and hear gunfire and bullets whiz by someone 50 feet away and watching others dodge and run and watching people break out their coolers full of beer. Those were crazy days when gangs would go there at night just to have shoot outs. Okay, Well there's none of that going on anymore. The Forest Dept. has now leased out that land to a company that has set up a real outdoor very controlled firing range with NRA range officers to manage the different ranges. Once I found out about Lyle Creek has been cleaned up I looked it up and began going back for shooting after a 25-year disappearance from me shooting there. Now its a very safe and friendly place to go shooting. I've met some nice people there and watch new shooters to the sport gain some experience trying out their friend's guns and have fun with their families. Much more conducive to having a better time than being at an enclosed indoor range on a timer in a small environment. This outdoor range is high in the Mountain so cell service is spotty. Also, they have cease-fires every 30 minutes then allowed about 15 minutes for everyone to go out and reset or check their targets. So if you get there too late in the day you may not have all the time to do what you've planned. So plan your range day accordingly. The range fee is very cheap. Actually the cheapest I've found in all of Southern California (BTW bring cash for an entrance fee and supplies) This is a 5-star place for what you get. However, I give it 4.5 stars because it could use a few upgrades like; 1. Need more screens at bays as would be helpful to prevent flying brass 2. Need an area for pistol shooters to practice drawing from the holster if you're a valid CCW holder 3. Need their calendar updated online for a list of training and events 4. Need to respond to customer emails from their website faster 5. Need the ability to accept credit cards or have an ATM 6. Need to sell ammo 7. Need online waiver for patrons instead of filling out paperwork 8. Need election to have annual memberships available for sale Thus far I haven't seen a perfect indoor or outdoor shooting range yet in California. However, this is my go-to place for outdoor ranges because I can bring all my handguns and rifles and stand-up targets paper or steel and shoot all day for $20 from 7yds to 300yds. They do have steel targets starting at 100yds however you can set-up your own steel targets starting at 50 yds. You can also purchase sturdy cardboard targets for only $6 and that includes wooden supported stands so you can hammer it into the ground. You can pick-up and keep your own brass. They provide hammers and staplers for free use. They also have archery and shotgun ranges. Private range bays can be reserved for small to large groups, but you will need to call ahead and RSVP so a range safety officer can be located for your group. You can also bring your cooler and even a BBQ propane grill and cook hotdogs or your favorite food w/friends without any hassle on your tailgate (no alcohol). FYI they do have both His and Her's porta-potties that are very clean. There's no running water but they do offer hand sanitizers. (People aren't honest if they leave negative reviews. If they did something that was unsafe then they will be confronted to correct the situation. You are responsible for cleaning up your area and yes that includes picking up your brass at each cease-fire. Restored my .22 my Dad got me when I was 12. Had been sitting in a garage for close to 50 years. Wanted to see if it still worked and to get it sighted in if it did. Went to Lytle Creek Firing Line. It's at the end of the road so it's hard to miss. Like the directions say, you might think you're lost, but just keep going. It was 25.00 for the day, which is very reasonable. Most other ranges charge by the hour. Robert checked me in. He is super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. This was my first time there and he made the day 100% better than it already was. I tried to prepare best I could, but I next time I will bring my targets mounted on cardboard and 2 - 4' tall stakes to attach the targets to. They have target stands there, if you want to buy for 10.00. Most people there are cool. One issue was with a couple of guys shooting hand guns. They were letting their brass eject all over me, not paying attention to stay next to the screen to prevent that from happening. I had to move. There are metal targets on the range. They have some deep areas if you are looking to shoot over 100 yards. You back your vehicle up to your spot, so if you have drinks and snacks they're easy to get to. This is a very awesome outdoor shooting range!! When you arrive at this place, there's small fee to pay and they would tell you where to go. There will be a ranger/s depend on the crowd for that day. My cousin is a regular at this range and he took our other cousin and I here for our first time. This range is regulated therefore a ranger/s will give you a time lapse to when you can go change out your target/reload your gun etc. I feel pretty safe here since knowing someone is watching over us making sure everyone knows what they're doing. read more

This was the first time I been to this range and I was actually impressed. They are very strict with safety and you may say what is wrong with these people until you see some of the idiots that show up wanting to shoot their Ghats! Then you appreciate their strict policies. The price is reasonable and they offer ammo and targets for sale. I will show up again but their 300 yard was closed due to fire dangers... but I will be back. Tip is to being folding chairs to sit back and ice chest with drinks and snacks. If its a hot day bring an umbrella or EZ Up to have shade near your car. read more

I had a bad experience with the range master. He demanded me and my group to pick brass. I'm all about cleaning up but it was how he said it. He got in my face when I refused. I told him we were leaving and this guy said I wasn't allowed to get my guns and I had to leave them! Didn't care what he said so got our guns anyway and took off. The range is expensive, doesn't have any steel targets and they make you put a chamber flag or buy one. They also don't let you take your case or bag to the table. The parking lot is small. Shooting long range is not convenient since they don't have any targets. They assign you a table instead of you deciding where you want to go. The tables are too close to each other and don't have any screens to prevent brass from hitting you. This range sucks and expensive. They only accept cash. Angels Shooting Range is the best in LA for a reason. Save your money and skip this range. read more

Took an all-day course with 12 guys from church safety team. Course was on practical day-to-day confrontational things you might come across. Two amazing Marines were The instructors. Face to face confrontations, running between multiple threats, threats charging you and many others. I learned a lot and hope to go back for further training. read more

We have not been out to this hidden gem in a while, it's a beautiful place to go shooting with friends and family,there's time we close the place down. Everyone that goes there is friendly and the people who run it are more than welcoming. James was out there today running what I call a tight and friendly ship,always keeping everyone safe while making friendly conversation with just about everybody. First time at this outdoor range, have only heard good things so far. Arrived to find a huge crowd, lots of groups and individuals. As a first timer and with so many people around, I had some questions before I started my day. A helpful staff member Katy, reached out to me and answered all of my questions. Even walked me over to the person taking names for the wait list to make sure I got my name down. I was quoted up to an hour wait initially, so I took my time walking around and taking in the sights. The same employee Katy found us a spot opening and since we were a party of two and most others were big groups, got us in after only half an hour. All the staff were super helpful, and the range safety officers were very thorough in instructions and answering range questions. It was a great day of shooting and sure the crowds could of been smaller but that can't be helped, really enjoyed this outdoor range. Right now to follow Covid rules, they have it spaced out, but they still found room for us that was very comfortable. On your birthday, your shooting's free (verify with ID). Participated in Lytle Creek Firing Line's newly formed Precision Rifle Workshop on Sunday, February 11th with Greg as instructor/mentor. Trying to improve shot placement and grouping with a 30-06 hunting rifle, we shot out to 100 yards trying ensure proper shooting fundamentals were applied and my scope was properly mounted and zeroed. It was a bit windy with both sustained and gusty conditions which added to the learning experience. I realized quickly I definitely need to start shooting my rifle more often. Having only meeting Greg previously in conversation, I found him extremely patient, knowledgeable, and an all around good guy who is focused on safe gun handling/usage and your success of improvement towards your goals; at no point did I feel rushed or on a time limit. What is looking to be a monthly event, I highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking to improve there rifle shoot for tactical, competition, or hunting. I will definitely return and make this a monthly event on my calendar when able. Thank you Greg for your time and expertise... The facilities are what you expect at a range in the mountains with beautiful scenery and during the winter, snow capped mountain tops near by; bring a picnic lunch with to enjoy and make a day of this area even if shooting for an hour or two with hiking, the small town of Little Creek, or the running stream. Cost is very reasonable and inline with most other outdoor ranges. The only unusual thing is bring cash since they operate cash only. Also, be prepared to drive on gravel with some minor ruts and rocks and be free of all cell phone distractions (no coverage). read more
