Please take my review into consideration knowing that I haven't been there in at least 15 years…read more That said, I feel like I owe this restaurant a review because it was such a big part of my life and holds so many wonderful memories for me. When I moved to Canada in 1995, this restaurant was within walking distance of my sister's apartment, so we ate there all the time. Back then, if I remember correctly, they had a buffet for around $15 per person, and it was an incredible value. The food was always fresh, delicious, and plentiful. This restaurant became part of many chapters of my life. When I got married, I brought my husband and his family there because I wanted them to experience the food I loved so much. Later, when I had my children, it became one of the places we would visit whenever we were in Mississauga. At one point, we even lived in Mississauga for about a year and a half, and if we couldn't make it to the restaurant, we would order takeout instead. The amazing thing was that the food was just as delicious at home as it was in the restaurant. The restaurant itself wasn't huge or fancy. It was simple, comfortable, and focused on what mattered most--the food. The staff were always welcoming, and everything seemed to run smoothly. To this day, the lentil soup and the kibbeh are stuck in my head. I honestly think they were some of the best I've ever had in my life. Sadly, I can't enjoy the kibbeh anymore because I have celiac disease and have to avoid gluten, but those flavors are still some of my favorite food memories. I also remember that the mother of the family was involved in the cooking. Whether she is still there, retired, or if the ownership has changed, I honestly don't know. Because it has been so many years since my last visit, I can't speak to how the restaurant is today. What I can say is that the memories I have of this place are wonderful. The food was excellent, the service was great, and it became one of those special restaurants that stayed with me throughout the years. The next time I'm in Mississauga, I plan to stop by and see if the food is still as amazing as I remember. If it is, I know I'll be leaving with a huge smile and a full heart.

Tarboosh Restaurant wasn't on my radar at all, but after Suresh Doss gave it a hearty…read morerecommendation, we figured we should stop by and check it out. We arrived around noon on a recent Saturday and the place was completely empty. A group of four fairly loud men showed up shortly after us and inexplicably sat at a table near us, but that's obviously not the restaurant's fault. The menu contained plenty of tasty-looking entrees, but I figured I'd grab the dish with the name of the restaurant in it: the Tarboosh ("Combination of shawarma and falafel"). The concoction arrived to the table quite a while later, which was weird considering how empty the joint was, and sure looked impressive. I dove right in. Everything on the plate was tasty but not mind-blowing. The chicken shawarma had a few crispy pieces, which was appreciated, but was mostly unreasonably dry. (The two included sauces helped with that, at least.) The falafel was fresh but strangely light. It didn't really have a strong flavor of anything, really. I enjoyed eating it, but it definitely didn't remind me of traditional falafel. The hummus was creamy but lacking in a strong chickpea flavor (i.e. the concoction was overwhelmed by tahini, essentially). However, once I began eating everything together, I began enjoying everything a lot more. The included bread help, too, even though it was far from the best middle-eastern bread I've ever had. Tarboosh is a mixed bag, that's for sure. If you're in the area, it's worth a try. I don't think I would travel to far to check it out, though.

Recent visits, I have found they refurnished the space -- it's now much darker, and several smaller tables fill the space now, whereas before, it was filled with long tables and you would be seated beside strangers for your meal. It had a different, lighter and more communal vibe before. Also on recent visits, the staff server are a lot younger -- still warm and welcoming, but with less urgency. So getting assistance takes longer. Although this makes for a nice slow meal, if that's what you're looking for! The food however, is still A+! It's the reason I keep coming back again and again. And why when friends come to visit, Maro's is always in the Top 3 places to try in Halton. They consistently serve up fantastic Lebanese food. If you're dining with a vegetarian -- they will be THRILLED with the options here! I daresay they lead with vegetables here. No one will be disappointed with vegetarian option here -- even the meat eaters. Be sure to check out their drink menu as well. Their cocktails -- and mocktails -- are great. Parking outside is all paid parallel street parking, since it's downtown Oakville. But if you visit on Sundays -- parking is free!

To top all of the warm fuzzy feels when you enter, the food and drinks are just amazing. They are certainly on the pricier end of cafes - so this is an important consideration. I'm a die hard fan of their strawberry cups and tiramisu. Honestly, some of the best tiramisu out there. So happy they opened another location because the Oshawa one can get quite busy. It included fluffy, made in front of me (to order), falafel doused in a garlic and kickin' hot sauce over rice accompanied by a side fattoush salad and hummus. The falafel was cooked perfectly and had a fluffy and not overdone or super friend texture to it. The sauces drizzled on it were AMAZING, especially the hot sauce which the secret receipt he explained was passed down from his Italian born grandmother through the generations! I could drink this hot sauce and garlic sauce , it literally was SO good. The side fattoush salad featured fresh and crisp vegetables and was delicious as was the hummus. Everything tasted very fresh! I gladly ate there at the side bar with tall chair seating which allowed me to chat with the nice and gracious owner, Alex, who explained he moved from Italy and uses Italian 00 flour and other real deal Italian ingredients in his sauce. That is why his pizza is far above the competitors in the area. You are getting high quality pizza here because the ingredients are just superior. And, where on earth can you get an awesome quality pizza with shawarma on it? Here folks! My dining companion had a chicken shawarma wrap, the regular size, and it was HUGE. But, more than that, it was delicious and completely devoured. No complaints there. One thing to note is that Alex prepares things in batches and when he sells out he sells out for the day. Check my pictures to see a picture of the delectable pizza from dough he hand tossed/stretches in front of us. Alex explained the Italian origins of the pizza components. He explained with the finer flour and better ingredients leave you not feeling heavy or with indigestion after eating it. Alex takes pride in his craft and the results are shown by the food he produces. Located in a strip mall off a side street off Dundas street this spot is unassuming. There are two tables and a bar eating area in the store. The owner was super friendly and welcoming and the food was bomb. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area-you will be glad that you did. We will definitely be back before this trip is over. Thank you, Alex!

My husband got the lamb shawarma wrap (super size), and I ordered a medium lamb shawarma pizza because that's the smallest size they offer for lamb shawarma pizza. The food took about 15 minutes. The pizza looked and tasted amazing. I ate 1/3 of the pizza myself because it was so good. My husband really enjoyed the wrap too, but when he tried the pizza after finishing the wrap, he liked the pizza even more, and this is in a full stomach already.
