Top Deck is certainly one of the LARGEST trading card shops in south Jersey. The floor is huge, and the amount of table top games and accessories that they sell really don't come close to some other shops. The location is convenient right off of 295, and it's definitely a fun place to visit! In contrast, the prices here are quite astronomical at times, especially if you are in the market for anything related to Pokemon TCG. Ever since COVID-19, prices have skyrocketed due to the scalping crisis. Top Deck Games is no stranger to listing their Pokemon inventory at scalping level prices. If you're looking for anything that is unrelated to pokemon, I'd certainly give top deck a chance! The service here is hit and miss. Some days they are on the ball and others you're a ghost in front of the counter. This also relates to how busy the shop can be as well. So in summary, awesome place to look around and pick up a board game or two. I just wouldn't advise you to come here for Pokemon. read more

In a world where you can buy any card or game online.... Top Deck Games is a breath of fresh air. There's something to be said about opening a door, searching for a game, TCG, heck.. even a new card binder and finding what you need right in your neighborhood. The hunt is much more satisfying. Walked into the store the other day to check out some singles instead of buying a box. Each card is 20-50% OVER the market price of the card in the same condition. I understand shopping at your LCS is important but I'm not going to spend 120 dollars on a card when it's market value is 75. Even the reserved list cards I was looking to pick up were way out of market range. I looked at over 50 cards and had this issue with every single one. Maybe when they have live market prices I'll be back, times are tough right now I get it but don't scam your customers. TLDR: Buying singles at this store is a scam unless you wanna pay 20-50% over what the current price of the card is. TCGplayer is your best friend. read more

I've been in a few times, once i stood around for 15 minutes wanting to look at a card in the case but all the employees were mid conversation with I will assume customers but when one finished up he ignored me and went to join a different conversation with an employee and customer. At that point I just left. Second time it was just too busy to really get a chance to see anything and I knew there was no chance of getting an employee to help me after the last time I came in so I left. Third time I managed to buy a card, after the registers went down the crowd died down and I managed to get an employee to get a card out for me to see and I ended up buying it. I attribute the registers going down to the fact someone was actually free to help assist me. There were other things I was interested in asking about or buying but the employee just rang up the card and I had to stop and point out my kid was getting a plush toy as well before he finished the sale. I felt like I was being rushed out.. I see the employees take time working with other customers, I don't understand why no one ever seems interested in helping sell stuff to me. I buy high end cards even tho I just come in with a backwards hat and old tshirt with my big beard. I hesitate coming to this store over all these experiences. I haven't given up but only because they have the biggest selection around from what I have found. But for my next big purchase I'm probably going to drive a lot further away before checking TopDeck again. read more

This place used to be great. It moved from Haddon ave in Westmont to a larger location in cherry hill. Now they are charging for people to come play. Kinda an awful idea if they want people to come in. Why should I buy something there when there's a dozen game stores within a 30 minute drive that I can support that do want the community to flourish? Why game somewhere that is economical discriminating against players? Really sucks. Bad move on their part in my opinion. Way to alienate the gaming community but whatever. read more

I never like to do these types of reviews, but I feel in this instance they need to be done. The markups that this store does on its products are absolutely deplorable. For instance they were charging more than triple MSRP for the Lorcana Disney100 promo as well as more than double for Lorcana Decks. These Lorcana products can now be purchased at any honorable store for MSRP or a little above. I would avoid buying TCG products at Top Deck Games and opt for a store with better business practices. The employees here prioritize the health and safety of everyone during this year of covid. What impresses me the most about this place is that if you can't find a game you're looking for, they'll track it down for you! They have game recommendations and if you're niche isn't part of their recommended games-to-play list, then talk to them and ask them! They'll suggest games based on what you prefer or like. This is my go-to board game store and I couldn't love them any more than I already do! read more

I am continually impressed with the Game stores the Philadelphia metropolitan area has to offer. This store is located within a sleepy little suburb of Philadelphia. It's a safe area, and close to the PATCO line, however I do not know what stop exactly. The store itself is quite large, although it doesn't look it from the outside. That not only stacks top-shelf cards and games (everything from Magic: The Gathering to "Words with Friends") but also sells more obscure books like GURPS systems, and used Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition books -which were a delight to see. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. If it is your first time there, I suggest mentioning that. We did and they gave us a tour! They also sell a ton of board games. All different types. I was a bit overwhelmed and my brain could not process all the items this store sells. I highly recommend checking it out! It is worth the trip. Their Magic: The Gathering Prices are fair as well. I bought a few commons at fair market prices. They also sell drinks! Go see it for yourself. read more

This place gets the highest compliment I can give, and that's: "If I ran a game shop, this is the kind of place I'd want it to be." The employees are knowledgeable and most of importantly friendly. One of the strangest things about gamers is that sometimes the gamer community can be super clique' and non accepting. I've been to many shops where if you're not a regular you feel unwelcomed, this place is the exact opposite. I walked in off the streets because the magic shop I used to go to was SEVERELY low-balling me on a card sale, best decision I've made in years. FMN every Friday is a fabulous event, and FREE. The drafts are weekly and the prize structure great, then there are the major events. The pre-releases, fat pack challenges, the sealed league, all of these have INSANE prize pools. For the non-magic player there are tons of board games, warhammers, Star Wars, etc... there's a great selection. One of my favorite things as a magic player is that you can go there any time and get a "pick up game", in short this is one of my favorite places on the planet. read more

Maybe I've just never gone to a dedicated FLGS before, but this place was fantastic. This shop has friendly staff who go out of their way to be helpful (but also don't hover, which is nice). They had gotten a new shipment of dice, and let us know where they were so we could search through them. The board game selection was strong, with games in the front, and some discounted games in the 2 back rooms. They had a copy of Fallout: the Board Game, which (from what I've heard) is a bit difficult to come by right now, Dragonfire, and another recent release, showing a dedication to gaming trends. The shelves have enough room to move around, as there's enough space. I wasn't there for boardgames at the time, so I didn't get a great look of just how varied their games were though. They had a decent selection for RPGs and minis as well, with plenty of minis to paint and buy, as well as the paint for them. As for RPGs, I noticed stuff for DnD (with some stuff for older editions as well), and Pathfinder. Not sure if they had stuff for more indie RPGs though. The main thing that makes me want to visit frequently again when I move to the area is seeing the number of events on their wall, and seeing their games room. They are dedicated to each of the gaming hobbies, with boardgame nights, DnD nights, and various card games (like MtG and Pokémon). I'm looking forward to becoming a regular when I move to this area! read more

Hobby shops have the convince of being a store that oft times doesn't have much competition, and Top Deck takes full advantage of that by keeping a great and current inventory. They have average prices for most of their product and the pricier games are a reflection of the limited availability of that game. A perfect example is something like Super Dungeon Explore. It doesn't exist in brick and mortar stores normally but TDG has it and priced to move albeit slightly higher than online. (also its a really fun game and you don't pay for shipping from a store) Check it out if you are in the area. Every game store needs support and you should support your LGS. If you are looking for a new gaming group or FNM; see if you mesh well but for this there are other options. read more

This place can be a little tricky to find. If you're using your phone's map software, just pull over when you get close to the location and walk the last bit because the area's kind of a pain in the neck to turn around at. That said, once you find it you are golden! For some reason this is the only reliable place in the area that I've been able to find that sells rule books for a variety of table top games. Other places seem to dedicate themselves to just one thing like Warhammer 40k, which isn't something I care about so the whole store's wasted on me. In addition to a good rule book selection, Top Deck offers a wide range of miniatures, dice, and other swag for you to make a paycheck vanish in absurdly fast fashion. The staff is knowledgeable and has always been ready to help me find what I'm looking for as well as figure out ways to bring the price down a little where possible. Strongly recommend them if you enjoy tabletop games. read more

The people here are extra friendly. Even if you aren't into the big RPG games, War Hammer,, or Magic, they have tons of board games to choose from. Everyone I've talked to at the shop has made great recommendations to me time and time again. When looking (last minute) for a game for a Christmas gift that was out of stock at every other game store in the area, they pulled through and had it shipped in just for me, and just in time! Such an amazing place. I'm a big kid at heart and discovered this store when looking to get into Miniature painting. They have loads of miniatures from many manufacturers and the staff there are knowledgeable about the games, so newbies should not hesitate to ask. They also have two back rooms, one for miniature gaming, and one for card gaming. I can not say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff there are. I recently became interested in Magic:The Gathering and rather than push a sale, the directed me to certain products and offered to walk me through what I should look for while building a deck. It's impressive to me that they aren't simply look for a sale. They really want to help people enjoy gaming by helping them to get what they need. I've been gaming to some degree for the better part of 40 years and have lived all over the place and this is by far, the best gaming store I've ever had the pleasure of buying at. I was super happy to find this store in the town I grew up in. Staff is very nice and knowledgeable. Inventory is always updated with the latest games. They do tournaments and event nights which I think is what really makes this place so successful. The only thing I'd like to see is more Citadel paints but that is a very specific thing that not everyone necessarily needs. Love the examples of new games at the front of the store too. I just can not say enough about the crew at Top deck games. They are super friendly and knowledgeable. They welcome you and make you feel right at home. The first time I went in I had my autistic nephew with me and he can be a handful most of the time. He bugged the crap out of them but they took the time to talk to him and no push him off no matter how much I thought he was driving them crazy. These truly are a bunch of top notch people. Wandered in there a three or four times after having a meal next door and I must say that none of the time that I went in there have I been impressed. We were never acknowledged when we walked in because employees seem to be more concerned with their conversations, not something you want to feel going into a business. Secondly one time we went in there, it has always had kind of a weird musty, kind of body odor smell to it. Could of just been the day, but smelled very weird. Prices were quite high on games and products compared to online retailers such as amazon. Additionally there are signs on the door asking patrons to not park on the side street next to the shop out of respect to the neighbors but yet the employees and owners take up the majority of the allotted spots in the parking lot of the shop, which is really ignorant to its customers. Overall you can do better, there are better places out there! read more

Very nice clean looking store that's big enough to get big events but it's not so busy for local, store ran weekly tournaments like other local cards shops, often not firing events. I went to one recently and it didn't fire as there was not enough people, they said they'd refund my money and initially did, but it never showed up on my account - I should have kept the receipt but lost it unfortunately...argh. The clerk didn't seem to comfortable with the cash register/software at the time either. There were other events where not that many people show up whereas another local store I go to generally has 20-40 per event, easy. The staff is ok, but barely any of them seem enthusiastic or even interested in the product, or knowledgable, which is not usual for a gaming store, which generally has happy nerds applying for the social setting. I've noticed a bit too many arguments/grumpiness among the staff and just decided to stop going there, along with the events not firing. There was a clerk that was too lazy to get things behind the counter for customers and it led to a custom of the customer grabbing the item themselves to bring it up, upon the clerk's request. Then I saw a poor kid get yelled at and threatened to be kicked out by the manager upon seeing this, even though it was the clerk who originally told everyone to do that...and of course said clerk just sits there and watches the innocent kid get yelled at. Another minor nuissance was I was looking for a particular card, and was looking in the damaged case, and didn't realize it. I bought out the damaged copies, and asked if they had any more copies. The guy said no. I then see a case of new cards that had plenty of the card I needed. The guy then explained one case contained damaged cards and the other case was undamaged - but I just wish he would have told me there was another case of the item I needed because I was about to check out thinking I still had searching to do. It's a minor nitpicking, but I decided to get the new cards to complete a playset and noticed a minor ding in a new card, and one of the copies from the damaged case, when I got home, was in NM condition...odd but I just wish they'd label their cases better and grade cards better because it's confusing when going through their cases for the first time. If you needed four copies of a card, and saw 3 in the damaged case, and ask the clerk if there's any more, I just find it odd he'd say "no that's it" instead of saying "Oh there's more in the new case" and explain that when I originally asked. Also you don't want to buy from their damaged case thinking it's just a normal case only to find out when you get home there's something wrong, so be warned. Also their prices are all over the map and I cannot in confidence visit this store without risking going home empty handed if you need something. They'll have decent prices, even cheap prices, on some cards, then absolutely sky high prices (like 2x book value) on others. Buying older rares / cards is iffy as they'll make you wait 30-40 minutes for an order. Granted they have a bigger collection in person and should be applauded for the effort, but, the wait time is too much when I can be in and out of another store in a few minutes, then just amazon the rest. Cheaper cards from their binder aren't graded well and I've gotten cards with marks and stuff written on them for full price, whereas other stores I visit do a better job of disclosing condition and let you know right away if a $1-3 rare from their stock is banged up and will price it accordingly. Here you are given iffy condition cards every now and then at full price to an indifferent clerk after waiting a half hour at times. To me it's not worth the hassle despite their large collection and have decided to just online order obscure/older cards from now on. read more
