This place is so amazing, so colorful and bright, there are giant cutouts of her dolls, and everywhere you look it's so beautiful. Stepping into her world, is so visually incredible and uplifting. This was the first time meeting her in person and seeing her gallery! I know I will becoming back many times! It's such an incredible experience, so much girl power emanating from this place, I highly recommend it, and I am happy to say I am one of her art collectors. :) It's awesome being able to see more items in person, like the Stranger leggings, the Stony items, lanyards, stickers, prints, everything!!!

With a dedicated team working collaboratively, this art gallery remains vibrant and continues to thrive. Mabel George Haig was a highly esteemed artist and writer. In the year of 1934, she was the major co-founder of the Whittier Art Association & Gallery as it still stands today. It was respectfully built to be an art gallery, although it resembles a house on the exterior. Various events take place here, providing artists with a platform to respectfully showcase their life's work. 30% of the sale of each artwork or art piece, whether it be canvas style painting, cards, or jewelry for sale. 8 car parking behind the art gallery as well as a back door entrance. For me it's the experience - the time spent looking, studying, and simply browsing a collection is worth gold to me. Chemers Gallery in Tustin is that place that offers that whole experience. Every time I go in there, which I admit isn't near often enough but probably more than some, I delight in "finds". I have a fairly decent collection of artwork and it's not confined to paintings. I've ceramics, sculptures, glasswork, pottery, photographs, and a few weird pieces of found object works as well. Quite a few of those pieces have come from this jewel of a gallery so close to home. The owner Karen, and her friendly staff have always allowed me the luxury to simply roam. I have to walk through numerous times to take everything in. I get distracted by one or two pieces and then turn around and find something else completely unexpected. And, it becomes mine. I love this place!! I am a retired healthcare designer and Chemers was the art consultant on a few of our firms healthcare projects. What I enjoyed was the chosen works were always different from the predictable works too often seen in healthcare spaces and, they always complimented the concepts of our interiors. I also love the shows and exhibitions they often host here. Often soliciting works from local artists, craftspeople, and even foodies, these "pop-up" shows are always good for gifts, wearables, and sometimes taste-ables! And if I'm lucky, I often walk away with a new piece! I always look forward to stopping in on these shows and could spend an hour or more perusing. The current exhibition focuses on the work of Isidro Perez Garcia, whose work centers on a giant table reminiscent of woven chairs and tables found in Mexico. This table set playfully holds a dialogue with The Broad Museum's, "Under the Table@ by Robert Therrien. It's a must see. The walls of the gallery show the process in illustration of building the set. The exhibit as a whole harkens to our indigenous roots, our current mix of people and points to the future of art in Southern California influenced by the past, present and future. A mexclaje of people, ideas and culture. As such, I'd recommend this gallery as it is vibrant, fun, and not to be missed. It seeks to make art open to everyone and not a select few. I hope the community rallies behind it and visits to take part in the transformative ideas featured in its space.
