We did an online order. Not too much. A chicken noodle soup, a knish & a tuna melt. The knish was my absolute favorite!!! 5 stars. The soup was wonderful as well; just wished there were more carrots (don't judge me lol). And my husband had the tuna melt. He truly loved it, & the fries, just found it to be on the small side. This was not the best dinner experience. Some things were decent, but overall we were disappointed. I ordered my dinner and the server left. She never asked my husband what he wanted!! Luckily he was ordering the same meal as me. I liked the soup. I make better, but it wasn't bad. The young server said they'd run out of soup spoons, so we were given teaspoons. My husband didn't care for it. I did like their chopped liver appetizer a lot. I'd get this again. For the main meal, I'd ordered a stuffed chicken breast. Our meals came and we were given the wrong food. "She had written it down wrong," said the other server. We got new plates in about 11 minutes. The chicken was a small portion and very dry. Some sort of sauce would have helped. The corn bread stuffing inside was good, however. The potato pancakes were overcooked to a crisp. My husband was given an ice cold cup of coffee. He flagged down another server. Our server had to brew some new coffee. Meanwhile, I'd ordered tea asking for the tea bag on the side. I was given a pot of hot water the same time as his cold coffee. But I was NOT given a cup!!! When I finally got a cup, I asked for regular tea not a flavored tea. Ten minutes of them searching the kitchen and they said sorry, no regular tea. This location lacks the quality service and food quality we have enjoyed at other Too Jay's restaurants. Our inexperienced server took my wife's order and left the table saying, "I'll put that order right in for you." A few minutes later she came back and said your appetizers will be right out. My wife told her she forgot to take my order, she looked at me dumbfounded and I told her I would have the same as my wife. She left the table. Our appetizers were good and it was a while before our entrees arrived from the kitchen, Stuffed Chicken breast. The chicken breast looked more like a Cornish Game hen breast, rather than a chicken breast. The stuffing had good flavor but dry. My dessert choice was an Apple Upside-down cake, it came served right from the refrigerator, ice cold. I was hoping my black coffee would compensate for the cold cake but it too was COLD, like someone turned the coffee pot off 2 hrs earlier cold. My wife's hot water, per her request with tea bag on the side arrived after my cold coffee was removed ... No cup for her tea! Five minutes later our server returned with a cup and my wife asked for a tea bag, preferably a simple black tea, that was not a flavored tea. She left and came back with a Lemon Zest tea bag and an Orange zest tea bag, stating that was all they had. My wife asked for a little bit of the tea that they served as Ice tea to pour a splash into her hot water and was told she would have to pay extra if she wanted to do that. Average in every way. One thing that is new to me is this way to order your sandwich. Regular, "NY" (the way they used to stack the Reuben) and a third, with more meat (I can't remember the exact classification names.) The service was sub-par, with one woman telling me someone would be with me shortly. Waiting five minutes. Finally, another woman told me to, sit anywhere with a menu. TooJay's Carrot Cake is my favorite Carrot Cake in South Florida! It was a busy Thanksgiving afternoon and I just wanted some dessert to take home. The ladies behind the counter were busy putting together the online orders. The restaurant wasn't very busy but the to go orders were! They took care of me quickly. I actually love all their cakes so I had a tough time deciding. They had their Pumpkin Spice Cake and Pumpkin Cheesecake as well.. but I chose the Carrot Cake. It's very delicate and not very sweet. This recent trip to TooJay's, Florida's version of a New York style deli was prompted by a collaboration with one of my other Florida favorite brands Lilly Pulitzer. For Lilly's 65th anniversary, these two partnered together to create a custom coconut lemon cake. We love coming to TooJay's for some hearty homemade comfort foods. Menu items like potato pancakes and matzo ball soup to name a few. And no meal is complete without a made from scratch bakery treat. This restaurant always provides great service, the servers are knowledgeable and provide great hospitality! Ambiance is casual, lots of tables and booths to choose from. Lastly, back to the refreshing coconut lemon cake. This white cake features layers soaked in lemon juice filled with coconut and lemon cream, lemon buttercream frosting, and adored with a candied lemon slice. Pictures are better then words.We eat in this place often and the food is aways fresh and delisious. But i ordered out the same food i usually eat in door and as you can see, the contrast is striking. The pastrami was disgusting. It was all fat dark and two pieces. The cole slaw usually you get a bowl ( see below) takeout you get half of a tiny container. The equivalent of three teaspoons total. The joke is, we complained to the manager.He promised another meal which we took him up on his offer the next day. Unfortunately, look what we got as a second meal to go. The manager didn't even check to see if it was acceptable. At least the sandwich wasn't squished like the first one.but there was still only two pieces and it was dark and there was still only a tiny amount of cole slaw. As a self-proclaimed Jewish Food Expert, I can wholeheartedly say I always feel better after TooJay's matzo ball soup, potato latkes with applesauce, reuben sandwich, full sour pickles, and chocolate cake. Everything was delicious! The restaurant felt homey and inviting. It has the old school vibe of a New York Jewish deli. But what I actually came to say is that we had the sweetest waitress Lisa, who treated us with attentiveness and care-- she is seasoned and clearly loves her job and helping people--which is rare nowadays. I came to TooJay's Deli after a funeral with a large group. Our table was waiting on us and our server, Jasmine, was extremely polite and attentive. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I ordered a soup and sandwich lunch combo with chicken noodle soup and a turkey sandwich with french fries. The avocado, tomato and arugula were very fresh. The French fries were steak fries and were crispy. The rye bread was soft and drag tasting. Our table was given plates of bread and pickles. My husband ordered a pastrami sandwich. He loved it. It was a mile high sandwich and was loaded with meat. I posted pictures of the desserts in the bakery and from the menu. It all looked so delicious. Went to the two Jay's location outside the Wellington mall today. It was around 3:30 PM. We were having a late lunch. The place was empty. There were about two or three tables in the whole place so I figured service and food would be great. Our server, I can't remember his name, was very attentive and very nice. He greeted us right away. He got his drinks and took our order I ordered the classic which is corn, beef and pastrami on rye. My wife ordered a basic grilled cheese with tomato. After about 2025 minutes, our order finally arrived. It seemed like a long time considering the place was empty. My wife's sandwich looked as it should taste it as it should. She was happy . I got my sandwich and I could not believe how small of a serving it was. I have been a patron of two Jays. I'm going to say 20 to maybe 30 years if they've been open that long. I always thought they were OK as I am from New York/New Jersey and I have very high standards when it comes to deli. I have to say they used to give a nice serving of meat on their sandwiches if I say there was less than a quarter inch of meat between two slices of thicker cut rye bread. It was just a couple slices of corn beef and maybe one slice of pastrami and that was it. I asked the server a simple question it says the normal size of your sandwiches now he looked at me and said let me go and speak with the manager. He picked up my plate walked away, came back a few minutes later put the plate down and said they're going to remake you a sandwich but you can have this one in the meantime. Just said it straight I did not ask for a new sandwich. I just asked if that was the normal size of their new sandwiches. Every place seems to be raising prices and making smaller sandwiches. Well, about another 20 minutes later, they came out with a sandwich which looked like one of their normal sandwiches it was about an inch and a half or more rolled corned beef, but again one slice of pastrami. I did not complain. I hate my sandwich which was OK. The corn beef was a little bit Tough but it was good. The other thing is at the manager, never came by to check on us or to ask us questions. With the restaurant being so empty the manager should been all over it. I still believe and have worked in the restaurant industry for many many years that whether there's one table or 100 tables, the manager should be all over that floor and aware of what's going on same with the kitchen staff Just because it's slow doesn't mean they can take their time and not do their job properly I just think some managers don't care as much about their patrons. I know two Jays has closed a few of their locations as it is tough out there. But I have to say two days is not going to be my first stop anymore. If I'm gonna pay high prices, there are still other places to go for corned beef / pastrami that frankly are better. I still do enjoy their tuna. Walked in Today 6/7 for Breakfast 9am. Tried finding a Clean Table Could not. I finally grabbed the spray and cloth and cleaned our table. We both Ordered the $9.0 Breakfast special. I ordered a Reuben, she ordered a patty melt. The Reuben wasn't terrible, but I've had better. The patty melt on the other hand was so greasy that my girlfriend couldn't eat it, what she did eat made her sick. I tried the patty melt, it legitimately had no taste as all. The staff is always friendly and it's a very clean store. If you never been to Toojays make sure you try their Rueben or Racheal sandwich. Had a great experience at TooJays in Wellington recently and had to write about it! Loved the burger platter and banana cream cake! Easily a 2 person meal it was so much! Enjoyed our meal at TooJay's Wellington! Food quality and service was very good. I had the turkey dinner which was a platter sized portion and subbed the mashed potatoes for potato pancakes (yum!). Had dinner there tonight with a friend. We arrived at 6:30 and the place was virtually empty - sad. Our server was excellent which was to be expected since she had few other people to attend to. The menu is varied but the serving sizes are minuscule. We both ordered brisket sandwiches and were shocked at how small they were. The rye bread was excellent . We substituted potato salad for coleslaw and received a tiny amount, The new owners have diminished greatly the serving sizes. Our experience was brilliant. Our waitress was top of the line attentive and efficient. Sweet, smiling and so friendly and I cannot believe that I forgot her name. We are a bit older so forgive us. I had the corn beef which was lean and tender and tasty. My husband had the chopped liver which he thought was the best. Our friends had a super salad and the shepherds pie and they loved it. The quandry was the food. My friend and I split the potato pancake app and both ordered the Rueben with fries and cole slaw. The potato pancakes were okay. The rueben however, was outstanding. How they rolled the meat, cheese, and sauerkraut was quite interesting. The fries and cole slaw on the other hand sucked. The fries were limp and soggy. The cole slaw was tasteless.
