I met my friend here while in the area. We shared the California Cobb salad. I ate this recently at their Ft Lauderdale location and the one here seemed a lot smaller. It was still very good and they kept the egg out of the salad as requested. The bacon is so good on this salad. And I am not a huge bacon eater. I ordered the California veggie pizza and added goat cheese to it. They barely put any goat cheese on it. Also. As someone who knows me well says...I like salad on my pizza. I basically do...but not whole sprouts of broccoli. I like little sprinklings of veggies. This pizza was overwhelmingly veggie. Sigh. It was still OK. I used to actually order this pizza often when they were in my area and it was much better years ago. Our server was excellent. My lemonade was very good. This was my second visit to a California Kitchen restaurant, and I've definitely slept on this place for far too long. I have no idea why I hadn't come here sooner. I really enjoyed a flavorful steak salad, while my wife had the pepperoni pizza. If you're looking for a good salad, I don't think you'd be disappointed with this one. We also started with the tortilla soup as an appetizer, and it was incredibly appetizing. Looks like we'll be regulars from now on. My friend and I came here for a late lunch after shopping in the Wellington mall. Quite frankly, it was the only choice we had other than fast food. Lemongrass didn't open till 3:30 PM. WE saw signs that several new restaurants are coming soon. YEAH!! Anyway, there were two occupied tables when we walked in. And SEVERAL wait staff! After the host seated us, we waited nearly 15 minutes just for our drink order. Then, it took another 15 minutes for our waitress to take our order. We wanted the advertised veggie pizza, but on regular crust, not cauliflower crust. "We're out of it." Out of it?? It's only 3:00. The waitress rattled off 4 other dishes that we couldn't order because they didn't have the ingredients..... We finally decided on the steakhouse salad. In the meantime we gobbled up the wonderful fresh bread with the olive oil dipping sauce. Thank God we had that because our salads took THIRTY minutes to prepare. When we questioned the waitress about the wait time, she replied, "We are cooking the steak fresh for you." When our salads finally arrived, we were starved. The salad was tasty. The steak....although I ordered medium rare, it came out very well done. Two pieces were okay. The other tidbits were tough and chewy. We will never be returning to this place! The service was poor and the wait time for food was totally unacceptable! Remember, only 2 other tables were occupied and there were 2 ladies at the bar. It's not like they were jammed. I had a fantastic lunch and I am adding on an additional star since my prior review from last month. It was that good. My intention was to have lunch at Kaluz after doing some shopping; that didn't happen and I wound up back here at California Pizza Kitchen. I wasn't thrilled about it, but I was tired, cranky and hungry. Trying on outfits takes a lot out of you especially when your not having any luck. On my way out of the mall, I was getting a headache and decided to just have lunch here. I walked in and was cheerfully greeted and seated immediately. That was so nice because I was frustrated and I needed to just sit down for a while and chill out, eat something and reassess my shopping strategy for tomorrow. In case you don't know me, I hate shopping; unless it's for makeup or jewelry, that I enjoy. I splurged & had a real coke, and all the caffeine and sugar that it contains. You see, I am not supposed to have caffeine or anything carbonated for that matter. I was cranky and my two Cokes were delicious. I didn't know what I wanted but the thin Jamaican Jerk Chicken Pizza kept catching my eye. I ordered it not realizing it's a thirteen inch and not a personal size lunch pizza. I don't know what I was thinking but it all worked out well because it was freaking awesome. I ate one slice and boxed up the rest for later. The pizza was loaded with large pieces of crispy bacon, red onions, Jamaican spices, spicy-sweet Caribbean sauce, bell peppers, scallions and of course chicken, lots of chicken. I loved the thin and crispy crust which reminded me of a flatbread. I was surprised when my server placed the pizza on the table because I was expecting something much smaller. I immediately asked her to bring a box, yes I was very hungry but the six slices were quite large. I enjoyed my lunch so much and I had the best server. It had been years since I had gone to a California Pizza Kitchen. If I'm honest, my intention wasn't to go here, but I'm so happy I did. California Pizza Kitchen, more commonly known as CPK, was one of my favorite chains growing up and going to it once again reminded me why. My cousin and I were shopping (or rather she was shopping and I was tagging along and doing my duty, telling her if something was good or not). I eventually got to hanger status, and well, this was around, so I dragged her for substance. We arrived. We were sat right away. They brought us our drinks (iced tea and strawberry lemonade respectively). They wanted to get our order right away, but we were undecided. We perused the menu and eventually chose two pizzas. I chose the classic BBQ chicken pizza, while she had a pepperoni mushroom sausage pizza. The food came out just in time. I thought I was going to pass out from hunger and that's after attacking the complimentary bread. I essentially was a savage. I ate half my pizza and left the other half for later. My cousin's pizza? Well, they dropped two slices of hers, so they brought her a second pizza to make up for it. Needless to say, we had leftovers for days. Heavily impressed with how they handed their faux-pas. The general manager was a real doll, as all while doing this she was training a newbie employee. Talk about being able to multitask! And best of all, the food was on point. I haven't been to CPK in years, so I decided to stop by while I was shopping in the mall!! I loved how this restaurant is conveniently inside the mall. I started off with a strawberry lemonade and I also got the complementary bread and herb. I thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary bread with oil. Next, I decided to order the spicy buffalo cauliflower and the Mexican street corn. I wish I would've made it in for the lunch special, but I didn't get to. I did see a drastic difference in the price, and I definitely would not recommend coming here again. The price was a bit outrageous in my opinion. I didn't find it appealing that the pizza was almost double the price of regular pizza with the same ingredients. Especially since Sabaro wasn't too far away (not the same quality but edible). Anywho, I enjoyed the buffalo cauliflower and it's important to mention that I'm not really a buffalo sauce fan. The cauliflower was very crispy and flavorful. Unfortunately, the only downfall was that there was way too much celery on top for garnish purposes. I think it would be better off if I asked for it on the side. I wasn't aware that celery was going to be shaved on top of the appetizer. I also decided to get a side of Mexican street corn. I somewhat enjoyed it but I do believe the bread was a bit too dry. I'm guessing that the bread was only for garnish purposes. Also, I would recommend getting extra toppings since there wasn't enough toppings for serving size. I gave it a 3/5 because I believe the prices were not fair but overall the food was edible. read more

My wife and kids love it here. We have our weekly night here and have the same server every week. He pretty much knows our order like the back of his hand. The staff is very attentive and friendly. CPK is always delicious! I love their drink options and my boyfriend loves their fish tacos. He was head over heels the first time he had it but the 2nd time we went back, it was a bit dry. So the food quality isn't consistent. I got the Sicilian pizza with cauliflower crust. It was delicious for my palette but my boyfriend didn't enjoy it as much. It's probably because of the jalapeños on top. The avocado egg rolls were 10/10! It was a bit on the greasier side but it's deep fried so it is what it is. We will definitely go back and try out their other pizza selections! PS, it is on the pricier end so be sure to spend atleast $30-40 for two. read more

While visiting friends in Wellington, we stopped in to CPK for a quick bite. The restaurant is located just inside a mall so I wasn't expecting much. Mall restaurants seem to lose that personable touch. The mall itself was pretty as we drove up. It wasn't busy but was maintained beautifully. Walking in, I noted the restaurant was very clean and tidy. Warm natural hues and a lot of varnished wood created a cozy atmosphere. Service was fantastic. A young girl named Olivia was sweet and very eager to please. I asked about a certain kind of vodka for my martini. She wasn't sure but instead of leaving it at that, she called the bartender over. Great follow through. I tweaked my order a bit, subtracting certain things and it arrived just as I had asked. Olivia was a delight as our server! Our salads and pizza were sooo good. I don't get to CPK often but I see they offer a chickpea pizza crust. Yum! I may return just to give that try. Hopefully Olivia will be our server!! read more

Stopped by for a quick lunch that turned to be a 2 hours lunch. For a party of five, we only ordered a pizza, 3 salads, and a pasta dish. It wasn't this bad before, and now it is worst. I highly suggest if you really want the food from here, just get it for to go. read more

Ordered a lemon chicken piccata, chicken was under cooked. It took 15 minutes to bring out a fully cooked piece of chicken. When they finally brought out a piece of chicken it was half the portion and my pasta had already been eaten obviously. When I asked the manager to apply a discount for the inconvenience he laughed at me and said that this is not how we do things here. I said then maybe you make it up on our next visit since we come here all the time. His response was a NO.......... My advice if you ever have a problem with the food at this restaurant is that you should send your entire plate back to the kitchen until it is made proper. read more

unless you like eating shards of metal, wouldn't recommend eating here. i came here with friends and my boyfriend ordered a burger. as he was eating he bit down on something really hard. when he pulled it out of his mouth, it was a thin piece of metal. they said it was a shard of metal from a grill brush, don't know how that got cooked into a burger but okay. the chef came out and ended up remaking the burger, by the time he got the new one everyone else was done and ready to leave. we also still had to pay for the burger which was insane??? also the service was really bad in general. our waiter never brought us bread even though we asked him to multiple times. he also dropped a knife next to my friend, looked at it, and never picked it up. i'm not sure if he was having a bad day, but regardless the service was not good. definitely don't recommend. read more

First Daisy is the manger who doesn't know how to run the front of house. After complaining about the miscommunication we explained that will not come back to this location and she said quote perfect go back to Palm Beach Gardens. Listen the food is the food, if you have 2 hours to eat it. It's good for what it is. Nothing wrong with the quality. The real problem with this place, and I say this in the nicest way possible, is that the service is the slowest I've encountered in the area BY FAR. We've come here twice with our kids for dinner. Both times it took at least 20 minutes to be greeted by a server after we sat down. Last evening we sat at 6 and our server came by to take our drink orders and drop off coasters... this was only after 20 minutes when we finally asked a busboy if they could send the server. Who knows how long it would've taken if we hadn't asked. It took at least another 15 minutes after that for us to be able to order order. Long story short we didn't receive our food until 7pm. Both of my experiences here were the same, this seems to be the norm. We then had to track down or server to get a check and literally just handed her the card so we could pay and leave. We had to be somewhere in town by 8:30. Figured we had enough time but did not apparently. We JUST barely made it. In short the food is very good and well priced, it's also a very good family environment. However after giving this location a try on two separate occasions, I can say confidently that we will not return based on the lack of service. It's important to note that if the restaurant was packed we of course would give plenty of leeway to servers who are slammed, this was not the case on either occasion. We had a party of 10 come for lunch today. We all ordered the lunch special some with a burger pizza etc. It took over an hour for them to get us our food as the chef was in the back eating. Our appetizers didn't even come out in that time. They were extremely understaffed and the restaurant had very few patrons. To say the least We are were not happy. We complained politely to the manager and he said he would send over the manager that was on duty as he was not there. I'm sorry shouldn't matter which manager was on duty you are on duty now but we waited patiently. The old manager never showed up by the way still do not have our food. Finally the new manager comes over and offers one girl two $25 gift cards for a return visit guess only she mattered. But we were all very nice then we finally start to get our food apparently it is the waitresses job to put together the salads and soups for each order not that she was lacking in any way as the food burger and pizzas were not ready or the appetizer. Then she was extremely flustered as anyone would be at this point and she was having a hard time getting out bills out. We complained to the managers both at this time that she needed help and they got nasty and said it was her job. I don't care if it's her job she asked you for help before we complained and then you see she needed help when we complained and you stood there and did nothing and went on to yell at us and tell us that the chef did nothing wrong by eating instead of making our food and she was to blame. That they have a new menu (bs by the way as many of the group came there regularly) and they are tasting as it comes out. I would not recommend this restaurant as their manager has no grip on running a restaurant or care if they provide good food or good service. They are always very well behaved and never disruptive. When I walked in the older male server at the front didn't even look up at me. And when he did you could see his disgust that it was a women with 4 kids. I had a baby and he didn't offer a high chair. He dropped the menus on the table and walked away aggressively. Our server was wonderful and I regret not getting her name. But the same male server dropped off our food. He was just as hostile and nasty as he was when we arrived. I got a salad and he didn't offer pepper or cheese even though it was on the tray. Again he walked away aggressively not even asking if we needed anything else. It was appalling to get treated in such a discriminatory way just because I was dining with children. Who by the way got complimented for their behavior by all 3 tables surrounding us. read more

As you know from my previous reviews, the Wellington greens mall has improved tremendously over the past couple of years. On one of our recent visits to the mall, we decided to go to California pizza kitchen. This is a popular restaurant in many south Florida malls. Sawgrass mills and Boca town center both have a California Pizza Kitchen as well. This location is hidden in one of the corners of the mall on the ground floor and compared to sawgrass it is pretty crowded because of the limited space. As we walked in on a Friday night, the hostess told us that it would be a while before we would be seated. Luckily a lot of tables became available and our wait wasn't more than five minutes. The service was very efficient and a server came immediately and took our order. We ordered the cauliflower tempura and the veggie pizza. Both were delicious. California pizza kitchen has been improving their service over the years and it is a great place to grab lunch or dinner. read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat! Have been dining at CPK for over 20 years. Location where we live now is not as convenient so don't visit as frequently. Last few times, seemed to have progressively gone downhill. Menu changes, continually removing our favorite items, price increases, plate size reductions all have been happening. But was understanding of some of this, and still thought it was worth it for some of the items we loved. This visit, the flavor was also not anywhere near what it used to be. Very disappointed. I probably will not go back. Gave 3 stars only because others may not have the history, and would still think the food is average. read more

Two experiences. First time was a busy Saturday night. Our takeout order got "lost". Stood waiting for over an hour last pickup time before getting food. It was busy, stuff happens. But still. Manager apologized profusely, took our information, and promised to send vouchers. Never arrived. We followed up. Still nothing. Forgot about it and moved on. Three months later, decided to give this place another shot. Thursday night, not busy. Again, takeout order. I arrive at my designated time to find half my food ready and on the counter (read: getting cold). The remaining kid's pepperoni pizza takes 20 min. I usually enjoy my meal at California Pizza Kitchen, and this time was no different. This particular location is inside Wellington Mall. To start out, we shared the Bianco Flatbread which was very good. The combination of gorgonzola and mozzarella cheese went very well together. We first ordered the smashed pea barley soup, but it was a little watery, so we returned it for the sedona tortilla soup. The tortilla soup was thick and delicious, and not too spicy which I appreciate. I ordered the Bahn Mi Bowl for my main dish. Very flavorful with quinoa, chicken, avocado, cucumbers, and more. I liked that they put the chili-lime vinaigrette dressing on the side. The bowl could have has a bit more chicken in it, but nevertheless, I still enjoyed it. If you are super hungry, I recommend something else, but it was good for a lighter dinner. Service was good for the most part. Took sometime for one of the beverages to come out, but otherwise was fine. When we needed to exchange the barley soup for the sedona tortilla, that was no issue. Waiter was friendly. Overall, I enjoy California Pizza Kitchen and will certainly return to the one by where I live. Nice atmosphere, good food, and positive vibes. read more

Started with the chicken dumplings, muy bien! Next, the chicken piccata. Delicioso! And to end a perfect meal, the perfect dessert, the salted caramel pudding.
