We got the idea from a pizza shop in New York that successfully partnered with a shelter to help animals find homes, and it help many dogs get adopted. I clearly explained who I was and what animal shelter I was calling about and that our goal was to raise awareness about the dog population in Sumter, and our goal of getting dogs adopted. I said we would be supplying everything that would be needed in order to do this. When I described the idea, the man I spoke with responded, "Do you even know where you are and where are you from cause this is not NY?" in a very rude tone. Rather than simply declining the request, he spoke to me in a way that felt belittling and disrespectful. My family has been a customer of this restaurant and have regularly purchased their pizza. I understand that not every business is able or willing to participate in community initiatives, and that would have been perfectly fine. What disappointed me was the way I was treated during the conversation. Because of that experience, I will not be returning and supporting his business. I certainly will not be wanting to help someone who shows little compassion for his customers, for the community in which his business is in and its animals. She also had me repeat my missing item even though she had my name and should have looked it up easily. I hear someone in the background that I assume was a manager trying to place blame on door dash, The person on the phone offered zero apologies-only deflection and defensiveness. She told me it would be "at least 40 minutes" before redelivery could take place. When I asked why I should have to wait an additional 40 minutes on top of the hour plus I had already waited after they had made the mistake, she again became defensive and said there were 8-9 people ahead of me and there was "nothing I can do." In actuality, I was ahead of these customers because I had placed my order more than an hour prior, paid for it and was missing an item. Customer service 101 would say to right the wrong sitting right in front of you. Not surprisingly, my redelivery never arrived. No offers of refund. No apologies for oversight. Just negative, dismissive and deflective attitudes. The staff needs a complete overhaul and/or basic customer service training if this location is to survive. Do yourself a favor and spend your hard earned money on places that actually appreciate your business, deliver your order hot and on time and offer solutions, not excuses, when they mess up.
