I had the all meat Stromboli and it was perfect. The crust was baked just to the verge of dark brown. The meat had great taste and the 4 cheese mix was very good. Got to say this is some pretty darn good food. I had the benefit of having a couple slices of pizza and I loved it. Not sure what the other reviews are about. I'd not eaten here until recently and am so glad that I did. We ordered a few pizza's, eggplant parmigiana, stromboli, and some other items and everything was beyond delicious. I live near Fort Jackson, but I was on that side of town for something and decided to try the food. The staff was amazing, the owner treated us like family and the food showed the love that is put into the business. I can't say enough great things about Tony's Pizzalicious. When you walk in, you are greeted by a sweet counter person and the experience just keeps getting better. I will definitely be continuing to get food from here. read more

My entire life I have gone to Tonys and I must say, I do miss the old times. Something about the new spaghetti sauce is what gets me. I still eat there from time to time, the food is still good, but I definitely do not go as much. I've seen the comments about the owner; but I've never encountered him. Ms. Ann has been there my entire life and I love her to death. She knows my name and my family even though we don't come as often. Food prices have risen, but I know that always happens. Service was terrible. We sat for almost 45 minutes with empty tea glasses and had to get our order to go so we could make it back to work on time. The worst part was the owner, who, instead of even trying to apologize, acted as though we should have been blessed to come into his restaurant, and if we had to wait for our food, we should be grateful he even deigned to cook it for us. I should have read the reviews before trying this place and calling in an order. Upon picking up my food, in the 2 minutes or less interaction I had with the owner, it was the worst and rudest encounter I have ever had. Based off that experience alone, I knew I would not be a repeat customer. It wasn't until I got home and cut into my Stromboli to entice me to create a yelp account and blast this place for all to see! We cut into the Stromboli to see that the crust on the bottom was under cooked. We attempted to eat around it, but the filling was really mushy. I never had any meat lovers pizza/Stromboli that had the texture of mush! The mozzarella sticks you could tell had experienced some freezer burn prior to being cooked; the outer breading had that previously thawed/re frozen taste and the cheese was still in solid stick form, never having melted. I like to support local business and I was sadly disappointed with my overall experience. Columbia is full chain pizza restaurants and I was hoping for something more ethnic. When Little Caesars can make better food, with what appeared to be of the same quality of products, I would much rather have spent $5 at LC than the wasted $20 at Tony's. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! Not only will it better for your wallet, but you won't give the owner a chance to insult you before you ever try his mush...I mean, "food". Dine-in, ordered a meatball sub at 12:31 PM on a Friday. Place was probably 65% full. 25 minutes later, still no sub. Waitress tells me it will "be right out" (second time I'd heard that), at which point I say "I gotta go, 25 minutes for a meatball sub?" Dear God, the meatballs are already made (one presumes??), slap 'em on a bun, toast in oven 5 minutes, huck on a plate, deliver to customer. 10 minutes, tops, right? Waitress claims there was a "big party" before I got there. Relevence?? Took it to-go instead as I had to get back to work. To their credit, they gave me the food at no-charge, but when I got back to my office I must say it was the worst "meatball" sub I've ever had the displeasure to ingest. Three bites later it was tossed like a bad dream. FAIL read more

As a child I would eat at Tony's and I remember everything being yummy, however as an adult I don't have the same experience. The salad was just ok. The dressings do not taste homemade. I ordered at midday through bite squad. I haven't had Tony's since the late 80's. The sauce was "Americanized" sweet. The pizza dough was frozen. Someone said the food had changed, so I gave it a try. (I worked in the NYC area for a few years. I'm a pizza snob now. I think overall the pizza in Columbia is a 1 out of 10.) I had a lg. Dimi's Deluxe pizza, a side of meatballs, and Miss Ann's cheesecake. Everything was homemade. The pizza had sliced sausage instead of ground, as it should. The veggies on the pizza were slightly crisp, as they should be. The pizza was the best I've had in Columbia. There was almost no grease on my plate after lunch. The meatballs were very good. The sauce was great. The cheesecake was ok. I will order from Tony's again. read more

I Tony's pizza. The crust is soft and fluffy. I dont even eat any other kind of pizza anymore. Im no expert on pizza, but I do know that I love the pizza. If you want lasagna, manicotti, spaghetti (they can even bake it for you), this is the best place i've been. Plus the employees are super friendly and really make you feel like family when you walk through the door! I really appreciate that! I had such a horrible experience at Tony's Pizza this week that it motivated me to create a Yelp account so I can educate other potential customers about what an unfriendly place this is. (Don't worry I'll be posting about positive places I've gone, I'm usually not a complainer.) My large family and I tried to dine at this establishment on a Monday night like we have done many, many times over the life of Tony's Pizza (we've been going there long before the current owner was there). We had a party of 6 adults and 3 young kids - i.e. a sizable party for this place. There were only 2 other patrons in the dining room when we walked in at 6 pm. Two of the kids were super excited to see each other and my son kept squealing with glee (not crying, not yelling, but squealing). We were still trying to get settled in and the owner came out and told my son, who by the way is 21 months, that he needed to be quiet. We thought it odd since we'd just gotten there and hadn't settled into our seats that the owner would be so confrontational. So we proceeded to try to settle down, but not 2 minutes later, the owner came out and again reprimanded my 21 month old. My husband then stepped in because he thought the owner was going to next try to touch our child. My husband said the owner needed to talk to him, not my son. He then questioned if we'd ever taken our son to a restaurant and that he was misbehaving and interrupting his other customers. Again, only 2 other patrons in the restaurant and they hadn't even complained to us or the waitress about the noise level. We felt so unwelcome and ashamed that we left the restaurant. The owner never once apologized. Now, I am very aware that there is a time and place to take children. A restaurant with most menu items under $10 and plastic table cloths who touts themselves as a neighborhood pizza joint at 6 pm on a Monday would seem like an okay place to take kids. Guess not under the new management! I will never return to this restaurant as long as the current owner is there due to the way my family and I were made to feel. The food is just okay. So I will take my business elsewhere and I hope you do too! read more

Visiting from out of town and just wandered by this place. Always willing to try a local pizza place, I stopped. I was greeted by a friendly face as I walked in the door. The wait staff was busy but quick to welcome me as well. The pizza was great. Ample toppings and sauce. I liked the sauce as it had just enough bite to stand on its own, no need for the crushed red peppers here. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely visit again. read more

I go to Columbia on business every few months and this restaurant happens to be between my hotel and our customers office. So, it's an easy place to stop and I've found it to be a solid meal in a family owned place, amid a sea of chain places. The food won't be receiving any Michelin Stars, but it's good quality at a fair price. I like the Greek delight appateizer - tzatziki with pita, served with a heap of sliced olives. The pizza is also pretty good. I've always had great service - although it focused on getting you fed, and not a show for tip purposes. I'll continue to eat there as long as they keep doing what they're doing. read more

I went in and ordered carry out. First time there - place has a great nostalgic feel. Ordered a large Dimi' s and a meatball parm sub. The very kind lady told me that we qualified for the special, where you get a free small cheese pizza or cheesy garlic bread with a large speciality pizza. Not many places tell you about free add ons you can get nowadays, so that was a refreshing surprise. We got a ton of food for $27. I went to my car to wait with my dogs, and she waved me back in. She handed me a small bag with pepperoni slices for my dogs! Talk about service! Get the food home, and it is good. Nothing great, but better than the chains. The sub was very cheesy and meaty, as expected. A solid gut bomb. The cheesy bread was nothing special, but the marinara was very very good! The pizza was loaded and tasty. That crust was amazing! I remember as a child going to Tony's to pick up the to-go order my grandmother would call in. This had to be in the early 70's. She always ordered the same thing - the family size of the spaghetti and meat sauce, garlic bread on the side and salads with Thousand Island. It was delicious! Going back as an adult brought great memories of those rare occasions when my grandparents would splurge on 'restaurant food'. A few years ago; I'd say three or four, I went back and ordered the same order as always. It was NOT good. The recipe had changed and not for the better. This past Friday night I thought I'd give it another go. Nope. Worse than the last batch. The meat sauce is no longer meaty and the sauce tasted like the can I'm sure it came out of. The garlic bread was chewy and although the Thousand Island dressing tasted the same, the salad wasn't. It used to be that the lettuce was shredded and it was easy to eat (as a kid). Shredded lettuce no more. A fantastic childhood memory is all that is left of Tony's. My family and I will no longer be visiting Tony's UNLESS they return to their roots and old fashioned recipes that the families of the 70's enjoyed. read more

I'm curious as to which Tony's Pizza y'all have been going to but my family & I have been going to 975 Knox Abbott Dr for years, before and after the present owners. The food has changed, but that is normal, they just want to put their own mark on the place. One of the things that is great is they now take debit and credit cards, I had to carry my check book before and didn't like that. We go as a family and the kids just love it, especially the "congealed salad" they pickup the fruit first. When I'm in a rush I just call ahead & its ready when I get there. The ladies on the phone are just wonderful. They'll tell you the specials & read your order back to you so there are no mistakes. Special requests don't bother them, sometimes you just don't feel like olives on your pizza and they're good with that. I love the food, the faces, the service but don't just take my or anyone else's word for it, try it yourself and then judge. Everyone has different tastes. The place may not be an authentic NY pizzeria, but I don't think they were claiming to be. As for the review above me, sounds like a grudge to me. I run a food service establishment in town as well, and I can see in the kitchen and plainly see that they aren't cooking frozen pizzas. The food is above average for Italian food in Cayce, SC, so I don't know what someone would be complaining about. A Stromboli with every single topping they have is only $10 and it's easily two full meals for a grown man. It's unfortunate that some people use the internet to whine, it's the down side to everyone having a voice. I felt obligated to say something to help support a local business that is doing a good job in my experienced, professional opinion. It's good food for a good price and everyone there I've dealt with was courteous and helpful.
