Tony's is an absolute gem! We came in for the first time a few weeks ago, and Tricia greeted us warmly and told us about the history of the place (it's been in Marblehead for 45 years!). The pizza was fresh and delicious. Although we did not grow up here, it reminded us of family pizza places we frequented as kids. The prices were also very reasonable. NEVER in my time of having a service animal have I been so disrespected. I came to Tony's pizza as a kid all the time. Today, I went to pick up a small cheese pizza with my emotional support dog. As soon as I entered, I was met with hostility and disregard from a woman, who I'm assuming is the owner. She told me to get out with the dog and I wasn't allowed to enter with him. I told her that he is a service animal, which she responded with, "I don't care, he doesn't have a vest on or paperwork, you need to get out" UNDER THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT "...a person cannot be denied access or ejected from the premises unless (1) the animal is causing an undue hardship to the business or (2) the animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others." WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE. It does not matter whether he has a vest on or not, proof of training or that he is a service animal is NOT required in the state of MA. She told me to call Board of Health if I had a problem, which I will I called Tony's and asked to speak with her to let her know that she discriminated against me, AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME. Real classy. I have never been more embarrassed in my life just trying to pick up a pizza. I will not be returning and am appalled that the owner would speak to any paying customer that way. Absolutely horrible hostile treatment on a Tuesday early afternoon, noon to be exact by the Angry woman at the Counter and her staff. we had 3 happy giggling three year olds with us and they were immediately scolded by this woman and her staff . Quite sad actually and looks like I'm not the first to experience this based on the other reviews. She was demeaning rude and downright nasty. I would give 0 if I could. This was the worst pizza I have ever eaten. Not well baked. Hardly any cheese and not good quality. The sauce was just awful. I don't even think it should be called pizza. awful service. The owner is yelling at kids, workers ealways moody. the food isn't too bad it just is sometimes cold. The ambiance isn't bad. The outside is clean the town is clean but the inside has boxes and boxes of pizza all over the place. Tony is the master! His talk of retirement is a constant source of debate in our house. I am from New York, and this is the best pizza I have had outside of there. I moved to Marblehead over 5 years ago. Tony's was right across the street from me and as a pizza-addict was excited to try this place and it was the first spot in town I ordered from. Complete disappointment. The pizza was awful; talking even worse than what I remember having at the school cafeteria in elementary school. The woman working (I'm guessing the owner from the comments I'm seeing) was extremely unwelcoming. I since gave them a few chances to try other menu items, but nothing I've ever eaten from here--subs, salads, pizza--was good. And the attitude from the owner/staff is just not great. If you don't want business, then don't open a business! SO many other great choices in town to chose from, and I always steer visitors towards them. Really unsure how this place stays in business. I had three 11 year olds there, laughing and having a great time, when she started YELLING at them to be quiet (I should add in that there were 2 other people eating there). After eating, I said to her "hey they are just kids having fun." Her response "they'll be in jail in no time with that attitude." I've been going to Tony's sence it first opened, not sence the reopening following the fire, The food is always what you'd expect from a 5 star sit down restuarant, Fresh, Delicious, and Plentiful. Excellent Thin Crust "To Die For" Pizza with many tasty variations, excellent parm's, Pastas, Salads And on and on. A fantastic local place. This place is hard to beat on any level. I travel way out of the way to come here for the pizza, calzones, and meatballs. The pizza is in my top three (with Regina's and Engine House). Thin crust, light sauce, fresh ingredients, and not super greasy. The calzone is fantastic especially with the sauce on the side. Tony and his staff (some family) give a real welcoming and authentic atmosphere here. They take care of you. I only wish they were open on Sundays but everyone needs a day off I guess. Tony's is the finest pizza restaurant in Marblehead. Thin crusted delicious dough and fine ingredients are the secret. The sauce is never acid - sweet with that authentic Italian flavor, complemented by tasty cheeses and friendly, efficient service. It truly is a family restaurant. Just being there is a delightful experience. I have had pizza in Naples, Italy and Tony's pizza is like the ones there. This restaurant is located across the street from Caffe Italia Trattoria, which seems to be the happening place in town. Unfortunately, it was out of my budget for the evening so we went over to Tony's Pizza. We shared a Venetian Wrap made of spinach, mozzarella, and tomato. It was good. We added a bit of olive oil and salt for more taste. The pizza had a nice crispy crust which was really flavorful. The sauce and cheese were really tasty too. The staff were very friendly, and the service was pretty quick. I just wish the decor were a little more homey. I am kind of tired of commercial pizza/sub shop decor. read more

Consistently delicious food, every time I order out. Tony's is a great, fast place to grab lunch, and I find myself ordering a sub or salad, and am always pleased. The vegetables in the salad are always fresh, with the lettuce nice and crispy- you can tell it is freshly made. I love the chicken kebab salad ($7.49), as the chicken is lightly marinated but enough to give it a nice flavor. There is plenty of chicken on the salad, and the feta cheese in addition makes it a filling meal! My other go-to is the turkey sub ($5.79). The sub rolls are always soft and fresh and I enjoy that they use shredded lettuce with diced tomatoes on the sub. The turkey deli meat is tasty and not slimy as it is at some places. The food is pretty good, service is beyond slow and the employees down right rude. As I waited 45 mins for a veggie melt wrap and buffalo chicken wrap I repeatedly heard and saw this cook and cashier scream and boss around another employee who appeared to have some disabilities. He was nothing but nice and helpful bringing orders to peoples tables while trying to complete the 10 tasks they were yelling out to him. Personally would not go back if you as a business owner think that's appropriate to do in front of customer. Apparently, money that comes from adults is more valuable than it is from children. My kids chose to spend their day off from school going to Tony's and a movie, but when they reached the counter to place their order, the woman at the register asked them to wait so she could take the order of the gentleman behind them. And, from what I hear, that is not the first time they have been either mistreated or ignored. If children are respectful, they deserve to be treated with respect in return. As a child advocate, it looks like I will be recommending that they spend their money somewhere they will be welcomed. The kids typically look forward to going to Tony's, but they are starting to be frustrated by the way they are treated. Pizza reminds me of the pizzerias i ate at growing up in a city where they have one every other block or so.. I was looking forward to eating at this place because we walk by it all the time, and it looks friendly inside. Unfortunately, I found the food extremely subpar (cheap, cafeteria-quality), and the service was even worse: (1) they mis-charged us for the special, and, when asked, said they had actually just tacked on the $0.50 per cup charge for tap water!, and (2) *they* dropped our credit card between the counter and case, and we had to drive back later that evening to pick it up. For the inconvenience, they offered us nothing - not even free tap-water. We have no reason to return to or recommend this place. read more
