Your wedding is a day when you want everything to be absolutely perfect and it is the day you are most critical of. So please take the 4 stars with the grain of salt knowing this was my wedding cake and only bride level perfection is 5 stars. I will also mention that I was making all of the arrangements from North Carolina where I live and I could not be in California until about a week before the wedding which was not enough time to arrange anything. So there was not sit down, look at this, planning meeting. Just a couple of pictures I saw online and my idea of wanting red, white and blue since I was getting married July 5. I said I wanted simple but not plain, red and white roses (mostly closed) and something blue. Maybe a ribbon or design or something. I was told it would be red and white roses and blue hydrangea. First we will do the decoration because that is where the star is lost for me. They were not real. They were mention to simulate white, red and light blue rose looking flowers. But they were not what I had meant at all and no one told me they would be fake. Even when the charge was listed it said floral, not fake florals. And the blue flower was no hydrangea at all. Which made me upset because we put hydrangea in the centerpiece and maid of honor bouquet to coordinate with the cake. I felt the decoration was too simple, not elegant, very plain and no real effort was put into it. I would have been happier if I just got a plain white cake and let the florist do the flowers because she got exactly what I was looking for. The flavor was vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and buttercream frosting. I have to say they nailed it and the cake was moist. The groom loved the cake and raved about it the rest of the day. It was exactly what he wanted for taste and texture so I have to give them 4 stars for that. In my opinion, the strawberries were used sparingly and there was nothing protecting the cake from their juice, so the cake right where the strawberries were was wet. Again the groom loved it and if that is your thing then you will too. But if you don't like soaked caked (think tres leches but with strawberries instead of milks) then you want want to be specific about your request. They were spot on about buttercream being very sweet. And the vanilla cake was moist without the juice from the strawberries. A good moist like you want from cake. My advice if you are planning for your cake, be specific, provide examples, ask questions, don't make assumptions, and be clear about what you want. Use this information to add to your question list. Will the flowers be real? Will the fruit soak the cake? And enjoy your cake read more

A friend recommended this bakery and I could not be happier. It was for my daughter's first birthday. I ordered weeks in advance to make sure they had availability. I had three cakes, three dozen cupcakes and two dozen fruit tarts. We had about 60 people. I should have ordered more tarts everything was absolutely amazing and the cakes were perfection! So I dropped the ball on ordering my son a birthday cake in time and at the last minute my husband found Tony's cakes and I must say that it was a complete blessing in disguise since we havent lived in Vallejo very long. His birthday dinner started at 6 PM and we had the whole family on the way to the house. We called them at 1:30 PM and they said get here as soon as you can so we can get your cake going. I got to the bakery at 2 o'clock and literally they took me in went over the order, I sent them the photo, they were so so nice and super reassuring that everything would turn out fine. Ordered a wedding cake a month prior to the date. I didn't not hear from them so I called a week prior to make sure it will be ready and delivered in time. I had the feeling that they were not aware of my order. So I decided to go there I person to pay for the balance and make sure the order is correct and will be delivered on time. Day of wedding comes, they were not there on time and as I was preparing the ceremony in the garden , the delivery person has to look fir me because they were late and didn't know where to put the cake , because they late! The cake looked good for a simple design A 2 tier 11 inch cake with chocolate and carrot cake for $400. Was it worth it ? Maybe. Otherwise, we were really disappointed in the appearance of the cake and the time it had arrived. The decorations on the cake were nothing like we had requested. We also wanted to add some fresh flowers to the cake ourselves, and we expected the cake to arrive at 4pm, giving us enough time to do so before the party. It didn't arrive until about 6pm, when the party was just about to start and guests had already started arriving. We had to rush and couldn't put as much time into adding extra flowers as we wanted had it come on time. For the day of the wedding was not my favorite highlight moment of stress. Please keep in mind I have rescheduled my wedding date 3 times due to the pandemic. So I was really excited that it was finally happening. I Either lost a family member and important guests that were not able to come due to getting Covid as well. Tony's and his staff Roberta were amazing. One week prior to the wedding I spoke to them over the phone confirmed the address and time the cake needed to be delivered by 5PM. We all know we have timelines. Everything was going well as expected. The delivery of the cake will be from their office in Vallejo to SSF. We had no problem paying with an extra fee paid for delivery. Which I was happy to do so! The day of Wedding my wedding coordinator was in contact with their staff. It was late so she calls and gets an update. She started to get worried because we were delayed with the timeline and people were arriving. The Cake was supposed to be delivered by 5PM however, the cake did not get there till 630. One hour and a half late. Doors were supposed to be open to the guests to find their seating arrangements. Of course you want your venue to be perfect and having the staff arrange everything so people can just enjoy the nigh. It's just not ideal to have the cake stacked/ prep and prepared while the first dance is happening is not a great picture to have at the moment when your trying to enjoy your first dance with your husband. When the cake finally arrived my coordinator asked her why she was late? The delivery person said "What do you want me to do, it was traffic"? With a very nasty attitude. She asked hotel staff to help her stack the cake. As you know the hotel staff are not allowed to help. The hotel does not want to be liable with the cake falling if some instance where they placed it wrong because that's not their job. Eventually we open the doors at 645PM the cake was beautiful and delicious with flavor. But then I was really sad to see it tilting :( it was not carefully arranged how I'd hope it would be. Tony if you read this please call me and hopefully we can talk about my experience with your staff. You have a gift and I would be worried to have staff that would represent you and your company just for some mishaps. There was no apology given by your delivery person. You are running a business and when people pay for the amount your charge people expect perfection. A five tier beautiful cake that we spent over $1300 should have been all worth it if your staff just came in on time. Decorated and stacked it beautifully as we had discussed. Trusting you and your staff on our special day. A simple apology would've been nice and would have forgotten the whole thing. Knowing that Saturday 5PM hearing to the city is rush hour they should have left earlier to prevent any delay. The whole night ran delayed with no apologies. I love this place! I tried them out initially when I needed some cupcakes for a baby shower. They had some ready-made which was super convenient. The cupcakes were delicious! I've meant to do a review and so here it is. Basically it started about planning a birthday party for my daughter who turned 10. Originally we didn't plan on having one (since we went on a family trip to San Diego) but being me thinking it's a one time thing and a milestone so we decided last minute that we will have one. So fast forward we pretty much had everything set just needed a cake so I took on that since my husband already thought an ice cream cake. (It has been done in the past and an easy choice). I searched online, checked out IG and came across Tony's cakes. He looked really familiar and finally I found out from my friend that he was the one that had done my reception cake. So I knew and remember that cake. Everyone enjoyed it so I decided to go and have a cake made by him. It may be pricey as others say but it's definitely worth it. I filled out the form, thinking I will give it a try and if not will just go with the other plan. Got a call the next day and chatted with a lovely young lady. (Forgot her name). She went through with what I wanted and gave me prices on what I wanted. She really helped me out. It was like a week and a half and they were able to get my order in. To end it and not keep it longer I was happy with the results. I just wished I had more since the cake was a hit. It was gone like that and some weren't able to get a piece at all.
