Tony's Café used to have some of the best pizza in the Newark area truly authentic New York-style pie. Unfortunately, since the ownership change, the quality has dropped significantly. The crust now tastes like a store-bought shell, the sauce seems overly sweet, and the sausage, pepperoni, and cheese blend feel noticeably lower quality than before. What's disappointing is that Tony's already had a winning formula. Changing a product that built such a strong local reputation doesn't make much sense from a customer perspective. Sadly, this shift has lost my family's business. If I want that type of pizza, I can go to chains like Domino's, Pat's, or Seasons. For quality local pizza, Cacciatore's will now get all of my business. read more

Have going there since Andy first opened the place and soon after the first location he opened two more location's, his wife and kids were there a lot, very friendly family, built a really good business then he moved away, and the store' changed ownership, it was still just about as good not much changed, now into another new owner which I think is the liquid store store owner next door, well the place has gone downhill while prices have went up, the pizza which was as good as you could get in Delaware, used to be a really good sauce and loaded with cheese cooked just right, now it's just pizza nothing special very little watered down sauce about half the cheese it used to have, but am not surprised read more

I only ordered from Tony' s cafe a couple of times and to be honest the food was good until today. My Lasagna had a weird taste almost spoiled tasting. My ravioli dish was weird tasting and undercooked. I also ordered one slice of pizza that smelled like old man butt. Will not be ordering again. read more

Thought I had the best pizza in DE when I visited Pizzaria Maki but my mind was quickly changed yesterday. I went to Tony's yesterday after seeing a video on Instagram and was highly impressed. Although the establishment is not that large inside, there is seating available. I was going specifically for the chicken caesar pizza I saw on IG and before taking that 40 minute drive, decided to call ahead to ensure they had it. When I first called, the women who answered told me they didnt have it. However, I received a return call 2 seconds after disconnecting from the initial call advising they could make it for me. They had 2 slices of white pizza left and used those to make it. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the ever so sweet Dhara. Im unsure of her position at this place but I will say her customer service is on point. I told her I was the person who called for the chicken caeser pizza and also ordered a few other slices for my husband and daughter. We decided to dine in. We were told we could sit wherever we wanted and they would bring the food to us when it was ready. My husband ordered a veggie pizza and my daughter ordered classic cheese. Theirs arrived to the table first and mines arrived shortly after. When I say my entire face lit up when my slices arrived! I ordered two not thinking they were be as large and filling as they were but boy was I wrong. I was only able to eat one slice. When I say the pizza was perfection I mean it. Combining two of my fave foods (pizza + chicken caesar salad) was literally heaven lol there was so much grilled chicken on top, drizzles of ceasar dressing, lettuce, and parm cheese as well. It tasted so fresh! This place literally met every single expectation I had and was well worth the drive. Between the food being so amazing and the customer service being even better, this will not be my last time taking the drive for Tony's Cafe. You can tell this business takes pride in making their customers happy and I love it. To top it off, when Dhara found out it was our first time visiting and how far of a drive we took, she gave my daughter a canoli. Being from S. Philly, I'm no stranger to cannoli's. When I say this is the best one i've had yet, I mean it. Dont believe me, I urge you to try for yourself! I promise you won't be disappointed. Ordered catering for coworkers to a holiday gathering. Food is not what it used to be and unfortunate that they do not provide utensils for a large catering order. Especially when it's a work event where those types of things are not available. Had to get from Walgreens. Not great. read more

First time customer. Ordered online for pick up the grandmom pizza. The description states a square pizza with a thick crust. Granted it does have a round picture but I went off the description. When my husband picked it up it was a round regular pizza. When I called they said sorry it's always been round pizza. lol How would I know that. I'm a new customer. Thought I'd suck it up and just eat the pizza. It was overpriced for a regular extra cheese pizza. Tony's Cafe is my go to place yo pick up dinner on my way home. My wife loves their shells and I am a traditional spaghetti with meatballs kinda guy. We have had the pizza many times as well. Tony's is always a very good to great take out Italian dinner. They have a couple small tables but it is mostly a takeout business. We have never had a bad meal or a mistake to what are usually very large, multiple dinner with apps, orders. If I have one complain it is not Tony's or their staff's fault. They just have too many customers. A good thing, right. But sometimes the wait in line - on the outside of the store - is a bit long. But that is a huge compliment to Tony's. read more

Food is amazing! They are so friendly and we have been going for over 10 years! The ambiance is very family oriented.

When you get to this place it just looks like your average pizza shop but it's definitely high quality food! The service was amazing everyone was friendly, the inside is a cute little cafe just as it says in the title. The lobster raviolis would've been better if there was less sauce for sure, i don't like my stuff drenched like that it was a little over whelming for me and i think a normal meat sauce would've been better with it but that's just my opinion. Philadelphia tomato pie in Delaware? You bet! Searched for "tomato pie" as I was leaving Middletown DE and saw many good reviews for Tony's. Ordered the square tomato pie and WOW! Really, really good. The crust is crispy on bottom with well done edges. The sauce is closer in flavor to pizza sauce than the Philly bakery sauces, which are thicker, richer and a bit sweeter. This is not to knock Tony's sauce, as I found it to be a delicious take on my favorite pie and am already looking forward to having it again. The top was covered with loads of minced garlic. Just fantastic. I would guess their pizzas are great. I mentioned that I found them on Yelp, and was given a free cannoli. Super freakin' good! The owner told me they're made fresh everyday without all the sugars others use. My wife and I shared it on the way back to Jersey and nearly turned back for another. Very friendly owner. Locals filled the place on the Saturday we visited. read more

Tony's isn't much to look at from either the outside or inside, but they do some good, hearty Italian food at very reasonable prices. Located in a little strip shopping center on Possum Park Road, the cafe is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall eatery: it's a bit dark and dingy, there's a large counter for placing and picking up orders with lots of pizza on display, the kitchen directly behind it, and a few tables in the remaining small space if you don't want to get take out. But aren't small places like this often among the best? The staff is always, always friendly; even when it's busy you'll be acknowledged when you walk in and helped with a smile as soon as someone is free. As a die-hard Grottos fan, I can't say that Tony's pizza is my favorite, but it is absolutely one of the best non-chain pizzas in Delaware. It's exactly what you expect of traditional New York style pizza - very thin crust, enormous slices, generous toppings, and high quality ingredients. They also have an extensive menu of non-pizza options, including hot and cold sandwiches and subs, salads, seafood, desserts, and of course pasta. Even more so than the pizza, my favorite entree is their penne ala vodka with prosciutto. It's truly the best I've ever had, and one order easily serves two or three people. BEST PIZZA in Delaware and the closest thing to a NY slice outside of NY. Every so often you find that one restaurant you absolutely must stop at if you're in the area. Tony's is definitely "that place" if you're in northern Delaware. This is by far the best place to get cheesesteaks, pizza, and wings in Delaware. The cheesesteak is the best I've had in probably 15 years. Orders of magnitude better than anything I've ever had in Philadelphia, South Jersey, Maryland, and anywhere else in Delaware. I don't know where Tony's gets it's rolls, or if they make them themselves. But these are incredible. Perfectly airy, yet having a perfectly crunchy baked exterior. The steak itself is of much higher quality than the vast majority of cheesesteaks I've had; and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I could not imagine finding a better cheesesteak. The pizza is a true New York style. Thin, but not too thin, crust. Generous toppings. And delicious low acid sauce. The wings are naked, and exactly what belongs with pizza. Nothing overcomplicated. Just perfectly fried with a perfectly balanced buffalo sauce. (I really appreciate the fact they take the effort to properly ventilate the container so the wings don't get too soggy. It's that kind of attention to detail that can really make an incredible difference). My girlfriend and I were also given some complimentary bruschetta while we waited for our take out order... like everything else, this was amazing. Tony's food, and clear attention to detail by the owner and staff, make it truly deserving of a much bigger restaurant. While slightly small, the seating area is still very comfortable and not cramped. I am wildly impressed, and will definitely be eating here often. read more

Ok - it used to be outstanding. Recently ordered a chicken cheesesteak salad. There was water at the bottom of take out container. It was coming from the wet salad. The lettuce was not dried out. Also, they just put 2 pieces yellow American cheese on top of chopped chicken. The chicken and cheese were not nixed together. I had this same order months ago and it was excellent. I headed here for lunch a few weeks ago b/c of the great reviews. It's okay, but nothing great. I got a half order of garlic knots, but I found them too doughy and not enough garlic. I then also got a slice of veggie pizza. That too was okay, but I found it too cheesy. I barely tasted the ingredients or the crust.
