They will ask you all kinds of questions during your "stay". I specifically told them, because they are always around in their kitchen and living room, I was leaving my dog in my room while I went on a hike. They said they wanted to get him out and that it was OK for him to run around. Well, he is a small, delicate and rambunctious chihuahua that can easily, accidentally get hurt and I told them I wanted him left in my room. When I came back from my hike I discovered the owners had gone into my room as the door between the bathroom and room was left open (I had left with it closed) and the rugs were shifted. And my dog was not in the quarantined space I had created for him to be in while I was out of the room. How do I know what happened to him? The owners treat this inn as their home because that's what it is and apparently they will do whatever they want. At real hotels you can hang a Do Not Disturb sign on the door and not worry. If this place had signs to hang they would say We Will Enter Your Room Without Permission Even When You Ask Us Not To Because This Is Our Personal Home. According to New Hampshire law they should be making it clear that they live there prior to making a reservation so this needs to be reported. In response to Sheila- your comments to your negative reviews give insight into your character. If you truly do care about customer satisfaction you would make it clear on your website that you are renting out rooms in a home. That would ensure the comfort of all of your guests.

Enough to stuff us and our bottomless pit teenage son, and she gladly accommodated his food allergies. If that wasn't enough, Jane also has coffee/tea available throughout the day, and some cookies/pastries for grab and go. The 3rd floor Shabby Chic space is roomy for families with children with three separate sleeping rooms. As converted attic space, the angled ceilings are a bit low, and the tricky stairs and ceilings make it more suited to young shorter guests (we're all 5'8" or less). Cleaning protocols seem really solid, including bed, bath, and dining spaces. My only criticism is that while the numerous dried and/or fake roses are part of the theme/decor, they inevitably collect a lot of dust - not great for those with allergy sensitivities.

They had our reservation for over eight months and waited until the day before we were to arrive to tell us they had double-booked the room and that we no longer had a reservation!! The Plymouth, New Hampshire area is notoriously difficult to get a room in the August timeframe. That is why we made our reservations in January. Now we are faced with paying $500+ a night for a room (if we can find one in the area) or having to travel an hour or more from a hotel room in another area to attend a wedding in Plymouth on the 20th. If this hotel really cared about its customers, they would have let us know immediately that the room was overbooked.

Then step inside where you find a very comfortable living room and the most beautiful stone fireplace I have ever seen! Most of the rooms have beautiful scenic views of the lake. I have a question though, is there such a thing as a million thread count sheet or pillow case? Because I think this place has them, I have bad shoulders and this was the best sleep I had in years!! That's why I was able to get up early and watch the sunrise and enjoy an excellent breakfast on the porch prepared by the owner himself, thanks Al! Last but definitely not least Al's wife Pamela is just the nicest person, making everyone feel as relaxed as if you were in your own home, she is full of ideas for all your local needs from dining to local recreation. The bed is stiff, but then again, I do like soft surfaces more. However, it's not impossible to sleep on because I am more adjusting towards different surfaces. I could sleep on the floor and I'd still be comfortable. Lol In the future, change your pillows. I know it may be a cheaper option or maybe it's "proven" to work better than cotton or feathered, but put some money into more expensive pillows. Food is decent, staff is nice. 7/10-Would go here again if the pillows were better...or I could always bring my own, too.

Had made deposits on two weekends, in January and I gave proper notice to cancel at least 10 days in advance on one weekend rental and at least 8 days on the other weekend rental. The policy of the rental deposit is if they able to re-book, they refund you your deposit back. The policy on website rental is, a minimum rental of 2 nights must be booked on Sat/Sun nights, or Sun/Mon nights in advance. They split up my rental bookings when they booked it both times(in other words, they rented Saturdays singly, and both Sunday nights, or Sunday and Monday nights were left out there singly alone). So, the rentals that they put out, were not the same rentals, as when I rented them. Hey, they are the owners, they can do what they want, but to rent for part of my rental period, and keep all of my deposit, just seems crappy. They then have refused to return any portion of either of my deposits. I have proof for both. Poor business practices in my opinion. I called and emailed multiple times, to inquire about why my two deposits had not been returned after they had re-booked, albeit under different rules, that they created. I spoke to the new property manager, they did not know what to say, or how to address my questions. They had to talk to the new owners. Never got back to me. So, in essence, BEWARE, if you have to cancel due to illness. Your deposit won't be returned or put on a future date. This is not like the previous owners, who were some very special people, very flexible people, who cared about their clients, and families, who made relationships that lasted a lifetime. Who wanted people to return to their cabins year after year. These new owners care about the almighty dollar bill. That's okay. I won't be going back.
