Bev is the primary inn keeper -- what a firecracker! She makes the most sumptuous country breakfast imaginable, with the most gorgeous flat, dish, silverware. The inn only has 3 rooms, so you'll be sure to feel comfortable in the intimacy of the house. When we stayed, at the end of October, we became fast friends with the other couple staying there (keep in mind, we are in our 20's/30's while the couple was in their 50's/60's, but the environment was just so laid back it was difficult not to be so friendly!). The place is near a cutesy New England downtown you would only expect to see in the movies. Also near Dartmouth U and Hannover. I've been spoiled -- don't know how I could ever go to any other B&B but this one ever again!

The Inn was built in 1909 by Thomas Edison. Yes that Thomas Edison, the one who invented the lightbulb. The Inn has so much character it's pure eye candy for those who appreciate the fine craftsmanship of classic furniture, decor and interior design. We stayed in the Thomas Jefferson room, the biggest room with a king size bed and infamously know to have housed Joe DiMaggio and Marylyn Monroe back in the day. We stayed for Valentine's weekend (3 nights), and it was like being welcomed into someone's mansion. The place is beautiful even in the winter snow. The accommodations are like stepping back in time, but with some modern amenities as well. The bed was a four poster antique replica with the most dreamy mattress. The in-room electric fireplace was nice within our spacious room (junior suite). Having Andy greet us every morning at breakfast was lovely, and the plated meal was delicious. We also enjoyed a bottle of wine and some food in the pub. An added bonus was entertainment one night by a talented duo. Recommendations for outside the Inn dining was provided by Andy along with some "must see things" as well. It was very nice "stepping into the historic past" at this beautiful Inn. A slow pace and a relaxing wood fire in the lobby was just what our weekend called for. Nancy started you out with assorted beverages in their cute custom Maple Leaf Inn ceramic mugs, and a chocolate muffin which was light and not too sweet (best one I've ever had). Next course was a banana with a lemon caramel sauce(delicious). The savory course was a poached egg on top of lentils and roasted tomatoes on top of polenta. We stayed in the Morning Glory room which had a soaking tub for two(I enjoyed this every day) with complimentary herbal bath salts. The bathroom also had radiant floor heating which was a very nice touch on cold Vermont mornings. Our bed had a pillowtop, with amazingly soft silky sheets. I wanted to take them home with me! The room also had a nice flat screen TV with two reclining wing back chairs. Mike and Nancy also offer one complimentary beer or wine every night, which was very nice. Not to mention the library with assorted older books, easy reads, and old romantic movies! Their dog, Beckit also was very fun to play with. The value- I paid 155 for one night (which is also the deposit when you book), and during the week during off peak season you get the second night at 50% off! naturally, we stayed a second night. Who could pass that up? With all the small touches that this place offers, I felt like royalty. This place is seriously like no place I have ever been, they made my fiance and I feel like family, I cant wait to come again!

Coffee was mediocre. The receptionist was not the friendliest. Sheets were stale and smelled of cigarette smoke. The rooms were not quiet and it was easy to hear other guests staying in the Inn. It was hard to block out light and get a dark room for sleep. There was no water provided in the room. We travel frequently and stay in nice hotels....our experience here was not what we would expect from a "5 star" property.

They have two wonderful Vizsla's that roam inside and outside the property and I enjoyed petting and playing with them. Everyone comments about how great the food is. Both Nancy and her daughter Lindsey are fantastic cooks but what I loved most was that they buy from local farmers and work hard to support the farming community. Additionally, they serve the community through volunteerism such as meals on wheels deliveries. They're good people that work hard to make a difference. About 1 mile away, there's a corner store (Jake's) that has fresh cooked pizza and wraps and it's also a store for snacks, wine, and a place to get gas. Very convenient.
