Mind you, yes, it was -20° when we were up here (unplanned of course) due to bomb cyclone weather. Anyhow, I'm so glad my trusty Honda Element Box Baby survived in this brutal freeze, she is a Cali girl after all. The staff were very friendly and welcoming at check in. The lobby and coffee/breakfast buffet bar area is inviting and modern. They had a HH from 5-6:30p with wine, beers and pita chips snacks. Round the clock hot coffee was much appreciated, especially during this crazy winter. Amenities: Pet Friendly: This is always the determination of any nearby destination. Our 18 year old chihuahua mutt needs to be able to tag along with us. Super pet friendly here. Pool: Though I brought my bathing suit, I was too tired after sightseeing to take a dip. It's a small pool, I'm sure kids love it. Gym: Small, but does the trick. Few treadmills, cycling areas, bosu balls, no stretching area. Also, there are no wipes. They do provide workout towels, yoga mats and there is a water station for hydration. Breakfast: Pretty decent but you will get the instant stuff. They have a bagel and English muffin station with cereals and milk. The days we were here, they had hard boiled eggs if you don't want the instant scramble eggs. Sausage links were good, the sausage patties weren't heated all the way through so it was still a bit frozen and inedible. There were hot cakes that were good. Don't expect brunch style options, typical hotel breakfast staples. Does the trick and there are plenty of healthy options too such as fruit and Greek yogurt Rooms: Very cute and modern. Each room had a kitchenette which is so convenient. The nightstands have USB chargers, the heat was great! We blasted that thing and made the cold much more bearable. The showers have good water pressure. I'm so glad this place launders and changes the sheets per guest! I could always tell when sheets and pillow cases have been laundered and when they haven't, so yay for cleanliness. My sole complaint here is that you can hear everyone next door and in the hallways. So, I can definitely tell you the parents next door to us were not getting any sleep at 3am from their crying toddler who was stomping around cause I wasn't getting any sleep either! If you forgo housekeeping service, you can get 250 points added or $5 credit to use at the convenience store downstairs. Pretty awesome since we don't generally use housekeeping when we travel. Great driving distance to lots of restaurants. 5 mins to Jesse's Tavern, 15 mins to King Arthur Flour and Dartmouth Campus. Quechee Park and mall are about 20 mins drive. Beautiful areas around with lots of handmade cheeses, jams, soaps and VT maple syrup to purchase for home. Amazing slopes too. Snowboard trip when the weather is much more bearable.

Upon entrance, one can appreciate the expansive windows and the modern lobby. The servicemen were friendly. Although the room was by no means fancy, the clean modern decor along with the presence of a functional kitchen (which we honestly did not test) was more than sufficient. Similarly, the bathroom and beds were equally equipped and functional. Actually, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The exercise facilities were nice. Small but functional, the gym has more than a handful of dedicated weight training machines to say that it's just basic, along with a full rack of weights (up to the standard 50-pound pair). There are a pair of all 3 major cardio machines (treadmill, recumbent bike, and elliptical). With a water cooler and disposable earbuds, I don't see how too many people could be unhappy with the layout. I wish I had the time to check out the pool, which also looked inviting. The best part was the breakfast. Although unassuming by a cursory glance, a detailed look reveals that the choices are all incredibly excellent. Not only did it have all the essential elements of a healthy breakfast, with a variety of yogurt and nutritious drinks, it also has ingredients for those who savor the hearty. I think I had not one, not two, but three helpings of the sausage scramble. This had to be the best breakfast I have had in a long, long time. The presence of this hotel adds incredible value to the community. No wonder it commands top dollar at the demanding days for local graduations. The "inn" is their home and you rent rooms in their home. That may be fine for some people but not…read moreothers, including myself. The caretakers live in the basement of the property. They will ask you all kinds of questions during your "stay". I specifically told them, because they are always around in their kitchen and living room, I was leaving my dog in my room while I went on a hike. They said they wanted to get him out and that it was OK for him to run around. Well, he is a small, delicate and rambunctious chihuahua that can easily, accidentally get hurt and I told them I wanted him left in my room. When I came back from my hike I discovered the owners had gone into my room as the door between the bathroom and room was left open (I had left with it closed) and the rugs were shifted. And my dog was not in the quarantined space I had created for him to be in while I was out of the room. How do I know what happened to him? The owners treat this inn as their home because that's what it is and apparently they will do whatever they want. At real hotels you can hang a Do Not Disturb sign on the door and not worry. If this place had signs to hang they would say We Will Enter Your Room Without Permission Even When You Ask Us Not To Because This Is Our Personal Home. According to New Hampshire law they should be making it clear that they live there prior to making a reservation so this needs to be reported. In response to Sheila- your comments to your negative reviews give insight into your character. If you truly do care about customer satisfaction you would make it clear on your website that you are renting out rooms in a home. That would ensure the comfort of all of your guests.

The room was nicely appointed and comfortable- just like most other HGIs I've stayed in. The shower was the low point - it was diabolical. The shower took forever to heat up until I realized I had to twist the dial unnaturally way past the "H" to get any warmth at all. Nice hotel. Will try to come back on our next visit - if we can get in!

They also seem to do wedding as well as we can see the venue on the back side of the building. The place has long history and they even have a pamphlet that traces the history of the place back to 1800s. It's located near a pond and as you go in the premise there are gravel parking lots on the left. Once we parked we went inside to check in. The staff helped us check in and gave us our keys. Once we got the key we went to find our room. Noticed that it's definitely an older building as keys are regular key and a door knob which we don't see many at hotels nowadays. The lock for our room was bit tricky and i had to finagle it to open. Once open inside was a small room with queen bed, a mini fridge, tv, some light, bathroom and a closet. They also do have the old school ac unit. Inside seems to be relatively clean but does have that worn rustic old looks as its a historic buildings. One of the light was also not turning on quite so once again i had to finagle it to make it work. The facility also has diner and lounge area which is small and has that rustic look. They offer dinner and breakfast. Breakfast does come with the stay. We went to breakfast in the morning which was buffet style. Typical coffee, egg, sausage, bacon, home fries, blueberry pancake, cereals, yogurt, and some pastries and breads. The breakfast was ok. Service overall was good. Everyone was nice and helpful. Overall its a nice place to stay if you want to explore the quechee area and like that old farm rustic vibe.

Whether you are looking for a quiet weekend getaway or your fairy-tale wedding destination, I cannot recommend stonewall farm B&B enough!

Note that the Inn is FOR SALE (last 500 days), so this may explain lack of attention to anything more than basic accommodation. I was unable to speak to anyone in management about having a late checkin -- they only respond to email (not phone) and not promptly and not on my first attempt. This was very odd. For the price ($281, with taxes), I think it should have been a lot nicer. Town is very quiet (actually pretty dead) and many businesses appear shuttered. There is however, a lovely park at the end of the property (after the tree swing) called Paradise Park. This made for a nice walk in the morning. I was glad we discovered this on our own as the innkeepers were non-existent. Pleasant enough, but .... not exactly what I was hoping for at this price.

A real treat for city-folk!) The staff is friendly, but not intrusive, and helpful when asked for advice about the area. While the Inn is pricey, you get what you pay for. Our room (Room 7 on the 3rd floor) was huge, with a mix of country and mid-century furniture, a very comfy king size bed with crisp clean-smelling sheets, bureau, and windows on two sides looking out over the street and grounds. It was painted a muted light green with white moldings and doors, and wide pine floors. There's a big LCD tv on the wall, with cable as well as a blu-ray player with access to Netflix, Pandora and YouTube (if you have accounts.) Also a few dozen movies in the Library to borrow (we watched a couple movies.) I peeked into several other rooms, and i don't think you could go wrong with any of them, all huge and very nicely appointed. The room was immaculate and also featured radiant floors in the 4-peice classically styled bath, which included a claw foot rub (outfitted with bath salts), a subway-tiled shower, and a quirky exposed beam running through one corner of the space. They have L'Occitane products A small vase of fresh flowers in the bathroom was a nice touch. The room had an efficient, quiet spit AC / heat unit, as well as supplemental old-style radiators (for winter stays). There is free, open WiFi throughout the house. The continental breakfast was what you'd expect - bagels, pastries, yogurt, cereal and boiled eggs. It's included and held in the spacious dining room. There is tea and coffee available there 24-hours. For the money (this isn't a cheap place), it would have been nice to have something like hot eggs, bacon set out as well, but the breakfast was perfectly in line with many B&Bs. There's also cookies left out in the lobby all afternoon, till they are gone, a nice touch as well. There's also a library / living room on the first floor to relax or read some of the volumes, and two porches as well. There were a couple small issues, which i wouldn't count as major: The windows didn't have screens, so you couldn't really open the windows to let the cool night air in (my partner wondered if the historic nature of the building was the reason), there wasn't a mini-fridge in the room, which i really like (it could fit in the closet easily). A note on the town itself: While the town itself is somewhat of one-stoplight town, there are a few dining spots around (inexplicably, no restaurants are open anywhere around on Monday night!), the longest covered bridge in the world, the Simon Pearce glass HQ, a Harpoon brewery, and the sort of new agey but fun "Path of Life" sculpture garden, also within a half hour drive: Hanover NH (Dartmouth College), quaint Woodstock, VT, and Quechee Gorge. So there's plenty to do for a weekend trip. In fact, we did quite alot in our two night stay, and my only regret in staying there was i wasn't there longer to have a change to just relax and read, walk around the pond out back, and generally enjoy the house. And if it hadn't rained the 2nd night, i'd have liked another chance to star-gaze, since i didn't have a wish ready when i say the one shooting star the first night.

We ended up with one of the rooms fronting the street even though there were no one in the rooms opposite overlooking the courtyard. When we asked they said it was all booked up, but it appeared that no one occupied them the entire time we were there. The valet staff, restaurant staff and the gift shop staff were wonderful and pleasant. We played at the associated Woodstock Golf country club and that was also way over priced.
