We stayed in the spotless, spacious Willard Room, with the cheerful ambiance of an indoor covered bridge. Enjoyed the simple joy of fresh flowers in the room. It was cozy and calming in the downstairs library, with Karim's mellow, curated playlist in the background. Yummy breakfasts, cooked to order. They also seem to do wedding as well as we can see the venue on the back side of the building. The place has long history and they even have a pamphlet that traces the history of the place back to 1800s. It's located near a pond and as you go in the premise there are gravel parking lots on the left. Once we parked we went inside to check in. The staff helped us check in and gave us our keys. Once we got the key we went to find our room. Noticed that it's definitely an older building as keys are regular key and a door knob which we don't see many at hotels nowadays. The lock for our room was bit tricky and i had to finagle it to open. Once open inside was a small room with queen bed, a mini fridge, tv, some light, bathroom and a closet. They also do have the old school ac unit. Inside seems to be relatively clean but does have that worn rustic old looks as its a historic buildings. One of the light was also not turning on quite so once again i had to finagle it to make it work. The facility also has diner and lounge area which is small and has that rustic look. They offer dinner and breakfast. Breakfast does come with the stay. We went to breakfast in the morning which was buffet style. Typical coffee, egg, sausage, bacon, home fries, blueberry pancake, cereals, yogurt, and some pastries and breads. The breakfast was ok. Service overall was good. Everyone was nice and helpful. Overall its a nice place to stay if you want to explore the quechee area and like that old farm rustic vibe.

When you arrive, there is a board on the left side of the house that has the required information for contactless check-in information which was uncomplicated. Our room - the gala - had a much bigger bed than expected which was awesome as well as a spa tub, and gas fireplace. About $550 for two night stay which is very competitive for the area. Within walking distance to many attractions and shopping. Clean and the communal areas were very cute and matched online pictures exactly. My only qualm is that this is a very old house and you can hear EVERYTHING from the other rooms which was very unpleasant especially if you are in a downstairs room. Floors creaking, beds squeaking, music, conversations, etc. I would recommend bringing headphones and not coming here with children unless you can rent all the rooms for your group or you might have some explaining to do in regards to the sounds coming from other rooms... This is my first BnB experience so maybe this is the norm but I was not prepared for it. As far as I can tell there aren't any enforced quiet hours here. Shampoo/conditioner provided - no body soap. Hairdryer, iron, and hangers available in room. Extra blankets in room. Fridge available for guest storage. Ability to use microwave in kitchen. Parking lot in the back, parking included in stay. Overall clean, neat, and looks brand new. Love the rustic design everywhere. The dorm room, which is where I slept, is on the second floor and quite spacious and it's nice they didn't cram more bunk beds. It sleeps 8 but it was just me and another person. It comes with a balcony with a view of the pond and forest, a dining table, a ceiling fan, split hvac system, and sitting area with chairs. Within the same building, downstairs is a mini-kitchen (no stove), 2 separate showers, the check-in office, and a private bedroom. The co-owner/wife is really sweet, friendly, and warm. Too bad I didn't have time to interact more. The Lodge (the common area) is a brief walk outside to get to it. It also has a rustic look. Clean and pretty cool. There's a laundry room, small full kitchen, 2 mini fridges, a full bathroom, a dining table, 2 sitting areas, books, board games, a guest photo album (love the idea), and a guest art book. Breakfast comes with your stay but it's not available till 8 am and I had to leave before then. There's also coffee and tea. Quiet hours begin at 9 pm and end at 6 am. I was surprised by 9 pm because that's too early but that's just me. The last 2 hostels I came from start quiet hours at 10 pm. The only complaint I have is the blanket given for the dorm beds is not sufficient for Vermont's cold temperatures during the night. A duvet will likely be a better option since it's easier to wash. And it didn't help that the other person I was sharing the room with likes to sleep cold (I say that because I saw that 1 window was slightly open and the ceiling fan was running). In short, just book a stay here! I doubt you'll have any regrets.

Beware of false "valet" parking charge at $35/day. I did not have a car. Thankfully, my bank…read moreresolved the issue, and the false charge was reimbursed. The hotel also finally sent me a folio which the employees I spoke to previously had refused to send, and I saw that I had been charged $35/day for "valet" parking. Summary below. ---------------- Stayed there in early May 2026 for work, and this hotel added a false $70 charge as "parking" fee, even though I didn't have a car (traveled to Dartmouth by bus) and had never used the parking service. They also refused to send me a receipt for that amount. The first time I called to inquire about the charge, the person who answered the call told me it was a deposit-like charge for incidentals which would be reversed. A few days later, I saw that I had been fully charged $70. It was only after I sent in a written inquiry that someone called back to say that it was for "parking". This is when I asked my bank to intervene. The bank solved the issue in a day (whereas I had been trying on my own for a week). Lesson learned: if you can't solve it immediately, ask your bank for help. Their website says, "We offer valet service with on-site, heated, and secure parking for $35/day." They surely must have known that I hadn't used the service. This charge could easily have been missed. Please be careful. There are other reviewers of the hotel on other platforms who also cited false charges, so it seems that mine was not an isolated issue. Big ups to Chase for quickly acting and disputing the charges. My bus tickets to Dartmouth were very helpful, a reminder that it's important to keep all documents. Editing June 2026: I just learned upon talking to the institution which paid for my hotel stay that Six South St Hotel attempted to charge their card $70 (as well as my personal card). I don't know the exact timeline, so cannot say if this was simultaneous, but we both agreed that we will try to avoid this hotel in the future. Both cards have now been correctly credited back, but only after I asked my bank to intervene. Again, there are similar reviews on other platforms, including one review which also noted that they could not receive a folio (which was my case as well). Please beware.

We were there for a few days as part of a work-sponsored service project in the area, and while some of the stuff there is a bit dated, it was a really great time. The lake is beautiful for swimming and other water sports, and they have a lot of stuff available to borrow - kayaks, canoes, paddle boards. I understand the bikes are also available to borrow, though I didn't partake this time. Food was good - some really good options for the breakfast and dinner buffets, and the outdoor pizza place was good as well. I tried a mocktail or two that were pretty good, and they had a bunch of local brews on tap and in cans, which some of our crew sampled and seemed to enjoy. The lodge itself was nice to hang around as well - really liked the big central area, including some recreational stuff like puzzles, board games, pool, ping pong, and the fitness center had some good stuff there too. Sitting outside looking at the lake and mountains was really nice too, or standing on the dock in the morning. Oh, and the free concert series was really cool - I discovered a new artist to listen to while there! Overall a really beautiful spot that I would absolutely visit again!

Spectacular ice skating on a 4 mile loop around a beautiful Vermont lake, a truly unique…read moreexperience, comfortable and friendly accommodations. The skate trail is as wide as a two lane road. Tons of space for every level of skater. There is a rentals shop with hockey skates, figure skates, trail skates, and "support" accessories for those just learning or not super stable on skates. The trail is cleared daily, but when there is a snow storm it takes longer. The ice conditions are totally weather dependent. We've been here 3 times, one time the ice was smooth and very easy to skates on, one time we couldn't skate at all because the weather earlier in the week created slush, which then froze, and was so bumpy skating wasn't possible, and then it rained and the skate trial had 3 inches of water on it. This year, the trail opened earlier than ever (Jan 9) and this week (Feb school break) the weather was perfect for skating! Mostly smooth ice, some bumps in some spots, but easy to avoid, and it is a lake, so to be expected. The hotel is perfect for families with kids of any age. There were many multi-generations groups here together. They do lots of kid oriented things in addition to the skating (a movie theater, DJ and dance floor, ping pong, heated indoor swimming pool, billiards, a variety of games and puzzles. Free-range kids everywhere. The restaurant serves the basics. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We ate here for one dinner, and tried the Beet salad, the pork dumplings, the soft pretzels, and the Ruben sandwich...and all were good. This place is not luxury. It has a classic historical hotel feeling about it, with lots of old photos on the walls to prove it. This place is a good value in the winter. Everything you need, friendly staff, beautiful views of the lake restaurant and bar on site for breakfast, lunch and dinner so if you don't want to leave once you get here, there is no need to. Also, the breakfast Phil prepared was wonderful-- spinach & leek quiche, southern cheesy hash browns, and a fresh fruit & yogurt parfait with lemon zest. The mattress on the bed was the best, and Phil even offers three different levels of pillow types!
