Spectacular ice skating on a 4 mile loop around a beautiful Vermont lake, a truly unique experience, comfortable and friendly accommodations. The skate trail is as wide as a two lane road. Tons of space for every level of skater. There is a rentals shop with hockey skates, figure skates, trail skates, and "support" accessories for those just learning or not super stable on skates. The trail is cleared daily, but when there is a snow storm it takes longer. The ice conditions are totally weather dependent. We've been here 3 times, one time the ice was smooth and very easy to skates on, one time we couldn't skate at all because the weather earlier in the week created slush, which then froze, and was so bumpy skating wasn't possible, and then it rained and the skate trial had 3 inches of water on it. This year, the trail opened earlier than ever (Jan 9) and this week (Feb school break) the weather was perfect for skating! Mostly smooth ice, some bumps in some spots, but easy to avoid, and it is a lake, so to be expected. The hotel is perfect for families with kids of any age. There were many multi-generations groups here together. They do lots of kid oriented things in addition to the skating (a movie theater, DJ and dance floor, ping pong, heated indoor swimming pool, billiards, a variety of games and puzzles. Free-range kids everywhere. The restaurant serves the basics. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We ate here for one dinner, and tried the Beet salad, the pork dumplings, the soft pretzels, and the Ruben sandwich...and all were good. This place is not luxury. It has a classic historical hotel feeling about it, with lots of old photos on the walls to prove it. This place is a good value in the winter. Everything you need, friendly staff, beautiful views of the lake restaurant and bar on site for breakfast, lunch and dinner so if you don't want to leave once you get here, there is no need to. Went on golf trip to Lake with 50+ golfers we've been going for this year by far was the worst. They had a terrible winter and the greens are all chewed up and there's even two temporary greens. I was a visitor to the Lake Morey Resort but didn't yet get a tour of the interiors/only saw social media photos. This is my review of the exterior amenities experienced while at the Lake Morey Resort. We visited the Lake Morey Summer Concert Series, where I enjoyed wine at the Resort Clubhouse, the Lake Morey Resort Pizza Hearth special events pop-up and enjoyed a Kaleo Concert. Kaleo is an Icelandic blues rock band popular for the chart-topping hit, "Way Down We Go." The grounds of the Lake Morey Resort are like stepping in to the original set of the Land of Oz. The lush landscape, beautiful views, serene green mountains and gorgeous lit trees made my Lake Morey experience gorgeous and unforgettable. Guests come to stay at the resort for the 18-hole Vermont Open golf course, the athletic ice skating, the snow shoe hikes, trail sledding and proximity to skiing. When the conditions are right, you can ice skate on a half-mile loop, a longer 2.5 mile - or more - ice trail or stay in the local ice rink sectioned-out on the lake. I haven't tried ice skating here yet but get that you show up in the morning and experience the thrill, unsure of exactly how conditions will be other than that they are safe. Just like snow skiing/boarding. Visitors can rent ice skates and resort guests are also offered complimentary snow shoes for hikes. The resort is within an hour from 6 ski resorts. From the Lake Morey resort, you can access ample snow trails for snowmobiling. There is a whole network of clubs and chapters to consult for trails open, etc. but you can start right from the resort if you bring a sled. Does that mean bring your own snowmobile or sled? I have no idea but am guessing it needs a motor! Day passes for the resort - good for warm weather - are available for adults and kids. You can do pontoon boat tours and charters, visit their indoor pool and sauna, canoe, kayak or paddleboard. You can also charter inner tubes, waterskis and wakeboards. We experienced the VT and NH Food Truck Scene in a garden on the grounds at the Lake Morey Resort Concert Series with Icelandic blues rock group Kaleo. Visit @lakemoreyresort @officialkaleo for photos. At the Lake Morey Resort Clubhouse I enjoyed tasting an organic wine in a can from Navarro, Spain by Ah So Wines. This vintner uses a 100-year-old garnacha vine clone from the Pyrenese Mountains. It was more dry than smooth and would have been lovely with a cheese and bread plate. But, alas, it was closing time and hot dogs were only available. :) @ahsowines These are the Vermont and New Hampshire social media handles of the awesome food trucks that participated. @loadedtotz22 Loaded Tots puts everything, including poutine, on tater tots. The Box Food Truck @theboxfoodtruck is from Dartmouth College and offers standard Mexican fare and more unique options including California Burritos and Mulitas (smaller quesadillas). San Song Kitchens @san_song_kitchens offers bibimbap, fried chicken and a kimchee sampler. The Vermont Ice Palace @thevermonticepalace offers dairy-free delights of gourmet sorbetto flavors including maple. The Spicy Spoke @the_spicy_spoke offers a selection of noodle bowls plus meatballs, burrata, Mediterranean and tacos. Reklis Brewing @reklisbrewing had tacos and pretzels. Ten Bends Beer @tenbendsbeer was the draft beer available at multiple tikis along the concert-goer's trail. One vendor offered Greek fare and probably had the best selection of wine and beer. The views of the lake were incredible and the venue wisely has ample seating to enjoy it. The gym includes a sauna (fantastic)! We also enjoyed the spaces for playing card games, pool or reading. We stopped in here for ice skating. It was really fun. This was 90 minutes from where we were staying in VT, but it was worth it, as we wanted to skate outdoors and on a real frozen lake! LOL, we are city people. We started in the lodge, and the kids played pool. We had a complimentary cup of coffee, and then we rented skates. They're a little expensive ($25/pp), but you can go on the lake as long as you want. My husband and kids did the whole U-shaped loop (the north side wasn't open, so it wasn't the full loop around the lake) and then I skated around some of the little rinks that are cleaned off. We were out there skating for like 2 hours, and then had a cup of coffee and hot cocoa, played some card games, and headed home. Parking was convenient, people were very nice, and this seems like a great family resort. Highly recommend. read more

We were up here this past weekend for a wedding for my best friends, middle son. And his beautiful bride. Everything from the beginning from the wedding it was beautiful outside had a lovely arbor on the front lawn of the resort. The music was incredible. The service was wonderful. We then went into the Morey room in the resort for a lovely cocktail hour or two the appetizers I will show at the bottom we had an antipasto platter, dumplings with the dip, and we also had king shrimp with cocktail sauce. Everything was lovely. The bartender, her name was Lori She was very much on top of everything. There was hardly ever a line except at the very beginning when everybody poured in from the wedding at once and wanted to drink and eat and you can't do it like instantly, so that was the only time that I saw that there was a line but she handled it very smoothly like she had but had 10 hands and she was just out of this world, so patient kind explained everything to people what was available what wasn't at that time. But she handled it definitely like a professional I would definitely I have events here. I would want to have her be the person who is at the bar. Everything went smoothly. We had a liked picture taking photo booth we had a lot of people to talk with. After they announce the bride and groom, they then in a little bit opens up the Buffet for dinner. It started off with a nice Caesar salad, pre-dressed as well as fresh rolls, three different kinds then we had a roasted potato, a fresh carrot and green bean mixture of those vegetables were a bit on the hard side, so I wasn't able to eat them because of my braces and other people couldn't because they were just too hard then we had a tortellini and cheese dish. We also had steak tips with peppers and onions and then there was a nice grilled salmon. That was very good according to the hubby. The event coordinator's name was Bonnie. She did a fantastic job. Everything was right on top of it like flowed so smoothly you thought that it was just maple syrup in the spring. Then one of the servers her name was Lenora we ended up getting her name because the next day we went back for breakfast for the bridal brunch. She was also the server at that event so we found out that she actually works like seven days a week. She's working to save up money for a trip to go visit her family, but she was just wonderful. Nothing missed her I the minute you finished your plate she was over asking if she could take it from you she was asking if you needed more drinks if you if you want more water just the kind of serve you want to take care of it event that is this special. We found out she has also been with resort over 30 years, and had no plans to retire soon. We then had to buy dessert, several different kinds of cupcakes, the bride and grooms own flavors as well as a main cake to have. I think it was one of the best weddings and events that I have been to in the very long time and I would not have missed this for the world. During the Reception, etc. I went out front to the front desk and they had a fantastic gift shop in the hotel, which I thought was the coolest thing and everything was very reasonably priced the way they took care of me at the concierge desk. Her name was Haley and she knew everything that was going on and what she was talking about and she was very confident and short for a self, and really showed a good face for the front desk. When you first walked in you need a warm, welcoming person who just makes you feel at ease and that was her. I definitely would come back here to visit if I had the opportunity. I think that everyone should try this place if you were able to do that also, it has a fantastic golf course for all types of players and a wonderful lake and all the rooms face onto the lake. They have private chalet's and stuff that you can rent private cottages for just a privacy for a family that you don't want to go in the hotel and have a whole bunch of people. It also I am the gift shop for that which is the pro shop. I mean for the golfers I went the next morning and picked up some gifts for my son-in-law's who are big golfers and the man there was super friendly as well. I'm sorry I didn't get his name, but he was very helpful to me picked out the right golf balls. I won ones with the resorts logo on them and he was just terrific. They also have a cute little restaurant in the golf pro shop that looks at over the golf course that I think would be nice for just a quiet lunch just to watch people golfing I'm not a golfer myself, but I like what other people do. There was also a couple of proms there that night the day of the wedding on Saturday so I was able to go out and watch the young people come in they're beautiful gowns and tuxedos and stuff. Just absolutely lovely. Time was being had by all. You did you have a chance to come up the restaurants open to the public you can go and eat in the restaurant and sit and look at the lake. read more

We stayed for five days for Memorial Day week! It was the most perfect summer trip. We had the place to ourselves I think there may have been 1-2 other cars! Everyone in the front was amazing, Heather, the younger lady who helped put a movie in for my little kids, and there may have been another person who worked evenings. We had a lake terrace room (601) with a view! It was such a great deal and the room was so spacious, incredible. Perfectly located next to our car and just steps away from the lake. The pool and gym were very clean and access wasn't an issue. No masks were required for vaccinated people. The cafeteria by the golf course had beer on tap, and everyone was so friendly and the food was great too. We did not get a chance to dine in at the restaurant but we knew that would have made the evenings more special. We didn't end up getting access to the pontoon boat- unavailable due to driver not being there, or the canoes/kayaks we just didn't have time. I highly recommend take out from the nearby restaurants and the fairlee diner across the way was fantastic. I would have given 5 stars if I were only rating the outside/grounds and staff. Staff so nice, accommodating and quick. The outside grounds was beyond beautiful. Menu was very limited. Pub good but dining room beyond my wallet. Crazy carpet designs, VERY uneven floors, flickering and humming lights and smells of mold and sometime bathroom smell. Shower was roomy and warm water. Beds were comfy. Went to movies in-house theatre- was nice and a cool addition Exercise room very outdated and not kept clean. Nothing in area to wipe machines off after individuals use. Pool warm and hot tub warm. Hot tub very small for size of resort. Most days when I was here was filled with kids so could not use. My boyfriend and I stayed at lake Morey resort this past weekend which happened to be indigenous peoples day weekend. Prices were a little high but that is to be expected as it is a long weekend as well as prime leaf peeping season. Overall our room was clean however my boyfriend had noticed a couple of dead spiders on the ceiling. This wasn't a dealbreaker for me because we were in the woods... the sheets were clean the bathroom was clean and over all it was a clean room but the building itself is outdated. I had called and asked about a mini fridge and a microwave ahead of time. The front desk gave us a complimentary refrigerator already plugged in and running and told us they would be happy to microwave anything that needed to be microwaved at the front desk. As they had promised, a really nice woman at the desk chatted with me as she microwaved me and my boyfriends meal. We took advantage of the fire pit on site and requested a fire two out of the three nights we stayed there. They set us up with firewood and kindling at no charge. They offered play circles and kayaks wish we had planned on taking advantage of however, did not have the time in our itinerary to do so. We did however, take advantage of the pool, hot tub, and billiards table. The pool is clean as was the hot tub and the hours it's open are reasonable. We hope to return again another time, probably on off-peak dates as it was kind of out of our budget. Oh, and our view was phenomenal!!! read more

I stayed here about a week ago for a friend's wedding. I have to say that the scenery was unbelievably beautiful. The resort it's self was charming, and the staff was very friendly. Our room had an amazing view, and the beds were comfortable. However the decor was extremely dated. The hotel from the Shinning was more contemporary. My boyfriend is 6'4", and his head grazed our ceiling. The hallways were very uneven, making it very difficult to walk in heels, and difficult to navigate at times. One of our friends room was supposed to be a gazebo view, but really it was a view of the parking lot. Meal options were sub-par as well. The breakfast buffet was expensive for the variety of options, and nothing tasted very nice. I didn't enjoy either of the dinners I had there. True, they were both catered, but still everything was dry and over cooked. There was no room service either. The country club dinner was disappointing as well. I guess they feel like they don't have to try because there are no other dining options for miles. So the view was spectacular, the beds were comfy, and the rest was just blah. read more

I really like this place. It's got a proprietary feel to it - you know, like you're at an inn, and you can talk to the proprietor. Distractions abound. You're surrounded by verdant green and lakes. Kayaks are free and so are bicycles. The breakfast is standard continental. I didn't have dinner here but was told you can't wear jeans in the dining room. On Friday nights the bar - a kind of extension of the lobby - gets all cruise-shippy and a bunch of people get out in small-town livery to dance to ABBA and the Spice Girls. It's not so terrible if you confine your drinking to the pool room, where you're liberated from the fatal gyrations and preppy back-slapping. read more

I can only give you the perspective of a Dartmouth student who comes here for formals. Lake Morey is a pretty popular place for Greek houses to have their spring formals at since the lake itself is really just so, so beautiful and great for photos. In general, food at the event has been on the meh side--I've had the chicken and the steak both of which were pretty mediocre but the chicken is the lesser of the two evils. They've got ample space for a respectably sized dance floor. It's a lovely place to hold an event at. Honestly, the star rating here is really just for how beautiful the lake is. Our room is very comfy and clean - (newly renovated) but I would change the mattress to somethings more comfy and modern... *Please don't forget to tip the cleaning services - they are doing an amazing job... Beauty around the resort is breathtaking - please walk around the lake ( 5.3 miles )or take a boat tour on the lake Try the spa experience - massages are a plus ... Hello spent 3 day weekend with 45 members of my family The staff was awesome the food was fantastic the staff lake side Attended to all the kids needs made sure all had life jackets And made sure the lakes conditions were safe for all that ventured out With complementary water craft . My bf, mom, and I stayed here for five nights since due to covid we didn't want to leave the state. The hotel is very quirky and beautiful...the decor is very similar to the hotel from the movie The Shining. A lot of the hall ways have dips and turns which I didn't mind it definitely gave it character. The rooms weren't too bad either definitely on the smaller side but not terrible. I would have liked there to have been a fan in the bathroom but nothing too bad. We did have some issues with the ac in our room. My bf and I like to sleep with it on but we had troubles getting it to stay on for more than ten minutes at a time. Our room was either too hot or freezing we couldn't get it at a comfortable temp. We did try the food and it was delicious we both had ordered the steak and we very much enjoyed it. We also ordered lunch a few times from the clubhouse and we liked the food there as well, however, we did notice the lack of attention to detail when we placed our order. One time I had tried calling to place a lunch order and I was put on hold and then forgotten about and I could hear conversation in the background. I definitely think they need to brush up on their customer service skills...especially being that it is a resort. My bf and I did enjoy the heated pool which we used almost every night we were there. I liked that it was open till 11pm every night. One night the power had gone out and we thought we would have been told to get out but luckily we weren't and we just swam in the dark. We did find it odd that most of the time we were the only ones who used the pool and that when we did a lot of other guests would gawk at us like we were aliens from outer space. Maybe due to covid people thought we were weird because we did not swim with masks on but seriously how could we have used them in the pool. I also thought it was odd one of the employees started filling the pool with water while we were using it. I definitely think they should not do any work on it while guests are using it because it made us feel like we were in the way. We did have some issues with other guests near our room with little children. Most nights they would let their kids scream in the hallway which did become annoying at times. We did not say anything but this is why I think hotels should invest in sound proofing rooms. All in all we did enjoy our time at this resort and would probably come back in the future. read more

Golf course seemed like they shoved 18 holes in a 9 hole spot. Advice, while golf is part of the package, $38 per day to rent a cart! Best part about the place is the memories you make. The only thing that is nice about this resort is the location and view. We got married here 3 years ago and they were less than accommodating. Our "coordinator" was not helpful on the day of the wedding and to top it all off we ran out of food at the reception and they didn't try to supplement. We offered more money to cook more food and they refused. I held off on writing this review until we wanted to go there to celebrate our anniversary this year. They didn't offer any sort of discount, anniversary package, nothing. I found it rather disappointing since we got married here and spent thousands when I wish we didn't. I was originally excited to stay here. The golf course was beautiful and the exclusiveness seemed luxurious. However, once you check in, the hotel reveals its many flaws. To start, the lobby floor was uneven and difficult to walk on and had the vibe of the Tower of Terror. The hotel is built like a maze with the 600's and 200's (room numbers) are on the same floor with limited signs to guide you. The hotel feels old and outdated rather than a lakeside retreat with rude staff and poor management. The clubhouse serves lunch, but is always out of almost every food. There is no room service, which isn't necessary, but for the price of the rooms it shouldn't be a hassle. Do not stay here because this hotel is your worst travel nightmare waiting to happen. Save your money and your sanity and stay at another hotel. read more

I went there for a two day seminar and stayed the night. The hotel room was decent, very big and spacious. Comfortable. BUT - the food was not up to par. They only provided sandwiches for lunch both days - with little variety. Not very many options for vegetarians. For breakfast they provided pre-packaged cereals in those mini boxes and a variety of toasted bread options that you could toast yourself. No warm food options other than the toast. For dinner they served pizza, which was so nauseating that it was hardly edible. Along with the pizza, there were options of bright red and purple tortilla chips, multigrain crackers, and a sad looking salad. Not many options and not very tasty. The wheelchair accessibility was sub-par at best. The floors are very uneven, and carpeted which is extremely hard to roll on with wheels. Only one elevator, which was pretty sketchy and also at the very far end of the building. Hard to find your way around the dark, dank, dungeon like maze of a hotel. There was also one hallway with a VERY steep drop of a ramp, that is NOT up to the standards of accessibility. Other than that, seminar was great! The meeting rooms were adequate and large enough for the big group of high school students. read more

I hesitate to write this review, because I don't want everyone to flock to Lake Morey Resort and crowd my favorite spot! We have been to Lake Morey Resort every Jan/Feb for the past few years for the ice skating on lake, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, good eats, indoor pool/hot tub that overlooks the lake, activities, and hot coco. The skates, skis, and snowshoe rental is included if you are staying at the resort, so it really is quite an amazing deal. As a gluten free diner, I love how attentive the staff is and accommodating of my dietary restrictions. On request, they brought out toasted gluten free breads for me at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We even substituted my gluten free bread so I could enjoy the spinach artichoke dip at dinner. They also have the most magical bacon that we crave year-round when we aren't at Lake Morey Resort. For winter activities, we find that the weather has been great between January and February for ice skating and other outdoor activities. read more

I've been going to Lake Morey Resort for golf excursions yearly for the past 15 years. It's not fancy or exclusive but is homey and about the friendliest place you can go. From the check-in staff to the wait staff to the pro shop staff, all are professional, courteous and Vermont friendly. The course was in great shape (they just hosted the VT Open) and challenging but mixed with some easy holes. Once you park your car there's no reason to get back in it until you are ready to go home. My husband and I live on the west coast, but are originally from New England. We decided to have our wedding back east so most of our family could attend. So, from planning my wedding from a distance communication was very important to us. The sales manager, Erin, and the wedding coordinator, Melissa, and the bartender were all prompt, clear, professional, patient, and positive in their communication. With the time difference there was a lot of emailing back and forth, and they never took more than 24-48 hours to respond to any of emails. Most of the time they responded within hours. They were very willing to work with us on the menu for our wedding, even with things that weren't traditionally on the menu, as my husband and I are both vegetarians and had guests who had dietary needs (vegan, gluten free, etc.), We also had them cater our rehearsal dinner out by the lakeside, which turned out to be beautiful. The food was great. We basically planned everything ahead of time and went up a few days early, so I got to spend time relaxing with my husband, family and bridal party. We had friends coming in from out of town, so it was great to have our wedding really be a whole weekend long event for our friends and family, and Lake Morey was perfect for that. We didn't have too many activities planned, but it was great for family bonding and relaxing. People went golfing, got massages, hung out by the lake, swam, went hiking, or took advantage of the canoes and kayaks at the resort. (Though if you want to golf or get a massage, I recommend to sign up a week or at least a few days early, esp. if you are having a bigger wedding, it does get booked up during the summer.) A lot of the bridal party went up Thursday night (for our Saturday wedding) and the girls helped me pick wedding flowers on Friday at the pick your own wedding flowers at Cedar Circle Farm, which is nearby and a great value for flowers. The highlight of my wedding was of course the ceremony by the lake, which was just as beautiful as the pictures look on the website. Honestly, it was breathtaking. Everything with the reception went smoothly. Our one hesitation in choosing it was the cost of the rooms, and the two night minimum during the summer. But, like I said, most people just chose to make a weekend of it, especially those coming from out of town. Also, there are other places to stay nearby- Silver Maple, Pasture's Campground, etc. We had a bunch of friends and family camp at the nearby Pasture's campground on the Connecticut River, and some family took their RV up and had a great time over there. Honestly what I found in my research was that a two night minimum is pretty standard for most places during tourist season anyway......so don't let that dissuade you. I was basically over-concerned for my guests, but honestly, people are adults and they will figure it out. Your guests will appreciate the opportunity to spend a whole weekend with friends and family. I've seen some so-so or bad reviews on this sight and I am not sure what that's all about. In my experience the rooms were clean, and nice. It's not a modern building, but it has everything you need and country charm if that's what your looking for. Honestly it was the picturesque setting, food, and helpfulness of the wedding coordinator/staff that are the highlights of me giving it 5 stars. We are coming up on one year of being happily married, and I am looking over the wedding pictures of all the great memories we made here. Just spent another wonderful "ladies getaway weekend" at lake morey with my friends. I have attended this special weekend they host for 7 years and I can say I will keep going until they tell me I can't :) The building is historic and has a unique charm that is endearing, some sloping floors and odd angles, just what you expect of an inn over 100 years old by the lake with such an incredible history. The building is always very clean, rooms are well kept (and currently being updated, can't wait to see next year). The food is great, the service is wonderful. I think the staff could put on customer service training to other companies as I can tell you the front desk, management, bar staff, dining staff, chefs, and cleaning staff all give 100%. All are there to ensure you enjoy your stay and often their roles overlap just to meet your needs. Most of the staff have been there since before I began my visits and they too seem like family and welcome their guests right into this Lake Morey family. They also take suggestions and implement them, truley listening to their customers and catering to them. So glad we found this place, always looking forward to our next stay! Avoid this golf course. Took five fours to play. If there is a ranger, he/she is missing in action. Tee boxes uneven and in bad shape. Greens in good shape, but slow. Cut to satisfy the resort guests. Staff very friendly. No one walks; saw just one other walker through 18 holes. All very disappointing. read more
