I'm from Orange country and have been going to my barber for the past 10 years. Since moving to Carson, I still drive to see my original barber, which is about a 45 min drive now. Recently there has been times where I could not make that drive, so I had to look for the local barber here in Carson and Harbor City. As you know, looking for another barber can be tricky, especially if you are already set with your original barber, which I never had issues with. I don't usually post a bad review, but this is not directly at Tony's barber shop, but rather for the barber. I had been here twice, first was with Ray, no issue, straight forward. 2x Ray wasn't available, so I went with Ruben, straight forward, plus he was able to explain to me how to grow my hair to the style I wanted and he would take care it. Hair cut was $22, I told him he would be my go to barber. 3x around I brought my son, he was taken care by another barber and I waited for Ruben again. Once everything was done, I went to pay, $22 for my son and I thought $22 for me, but Ruben said that my would be $25. I was kind of taken back by that, but I still paid the $25 and I even gave $2 for tip. I understood that I should have asked first for the price and I would have been okay with the $25 up front, but it of kind of bother me that he didn't explain why my hair cut was now $25 instead of $22. I'm not sure if he changed it up because my hair needed more time, but I wished he was more clear on the price that's all. Anyway next time, rule of thumb, ask for the price first before getting the hair cut, so you can avoid this issue. And also stick to your original barber if you can. For me it's worth it even if it's a long drive. read more

Went in for a haircut. Waited about 20min then Owner offered next but I mentioned I was waiting for someone else. He said he was going to lunch and I was in a hurry so I asked owner then all of the sudden he is going to lunch as well. Guess he got offended he was second choice. First time I went there he charged me $25 when it is posted $18. Place need upgrades and owner not the friendliest to customers or other barbers, that's why there is only one other one working with him. read more

Just got another great cut today! I have been going to Tony's for years now, have had many different barbers at Tony's cut my hair, and each time I have been happy with the cut. In my experience they have taken the time to get the cut right and don't rush in order to save time. I would recommend Tony's to anyone in the area. read more

I've been going to this barber for about 4 years now after my old barber retired. This place use to be lively and was full of barbers. However, it's been really dead lately. They've always had a high turnover of barbers. So most of them are probably still learning and/or either leave cuz they find a better spot. I'm thinking the owner charges his barbers way too much for their station to the point where they just go elsewhere and leave. I noticed the changes around the time the minimum wage went up. Prices went up to $14 per cut. (Inflation, I get it) BUT it seems to vary by who cuts your hair too. It's not the same all around. Also, the closing times are BS. They may as well close at 5:30 even though they close at 6:30-7; Honestly, there's no consistency. Every barbershop I've been to growing up always made time to cut your hair as long as you arrived before a specific closing time. Not this barbershop. It's whatever they feel like. Not coming back to the spot anymore. It's time for a new place. Oh, and if you're into a barbershop that focuses on its presentation and looks new, this place is not for you. It looks really plain and the chairs are starting to break down and look dated. Needs renovation. Just my thoughts. Maybe I'll do another review in a year or so to see if it gets better. read more

I've been to this shop about 4 times now ever since my previous barber left. The first few times I came here I was helped by one of the older ladies there and she did an ok job every time with some minor mistakes but I shrugged them off since they weren't that big. However, my most recent time left me not wanting to come back and warn people to take their business elsewhere. I had the other older lady help me. Now I don't ask for much from my barbers, a simple half length around and a trim off the top. She somehow misunderstood this for a zero on the clippers and left me with something I did not want at all, she had to cut off more off the top just to have it look OK and ended up taking twice as long just to salvage it. My hair looks decent but it's gonna take me at least 3 months to get it how it was before I gave this place many chances but this was the last I honestly do not recommend anybody come to this place. This used to be good place to get a decent haircut. In the past year, they have messed up my kids hair not once or twice but three times! The owner hires a bunch of incompetent barbers that don't know what they are doing. They basically give you a bad haircut and expect you to pay for it. I will never visit this place again!!! read more

Tony's barber shop is a very special place, to say the least. I got my first haircut here as a baby, and I still return for a fresh one to this day. Awesome people and management. The shop has always been well kept and at the same time hasn't changed much over the years. It's a place of comfort and it makes you feel right at home while having some YOU time. read more

This place is a dump know!!! Old ownership was great, now only has 1 good barber and the service is terrible. They are rude if you are a new customer and to top it off they give terrible cuts!!!! Came in for the first time. Service was fast and really polite. I will be coming here again in the future. She did exactly what I asked for and more. She cleaned up my sides very nicely and tapered it off and cut the top a bit to give me a nice comb over style and added in a hard crease for the final touch. read more
