I've been going to this barbershop since last year when I had first moved to town. This barbershop was the second shop I had went to and best believe it was the only shop I was planning on going to from here on out. All the gentlemen and lady who work here perform exceptionally. I've always left the barbershop feeling satisfied with my haircut. My haircuts can last 3 or 4 weeks but they do such a good job and it looks so good that I decide to come biweekly. NEVER AGAIN! Came here by default cause our regular barber was unavailable. Barbers kept taking breaks, stopped while cutting to watch movie on the TV, cussed so much in front of children. I was there 2 hours+ with only 3 people ahead when we arrived. Not a place I will be coming back to. It was that time of the month where I needed to get a haircut. I recently just came from Chicago and was visiting my family in the LA area and went on Yelp to see barber shops around the area. After leaving one barber shop because they took a long time, I went to this one and it was a mistake. First, if you're going to run a business, I would expect it to be professional. As what one of the other reviews stated (Karl M.), they do use foul language at an excess and it would definitely make people feel uncomfortable. I felt embarrassed for the parents because their kids had to hear them speak like that. Second, my haircut took over an hour! Over an hour! All I wanted was my sides to be faded and trimmed at the top. I felt like the person that cut my hair was an amateur because not only did he hurt me while he was cutting my hair, but he did it multiple times. I just wanted it to be over but he kept talking to his associates and other customers which may have caused him to take super long. Normally, my haircuts take about 20-30 minutes. That's with shampooing too. Third, there was no structure to pricing. I didn't know that they don't accept credit cards. When he told me the price, I told him I didn't have money and asked if I had a $10 bill. I said no and was told that there was an ATM nearby and decided to go. I went to the ATM (even though I could've left without paying because this was one of the worst service I've ever had) and withdrew $20 (don't forget ATM fees which was $2.50) and was given $7 back. At this point I just had it and left. I was dissatisfied with the service, the price, my haircut, and this whole place. I would NOT recommend coming here. read more

They really do give amazing haircuts. My only problem with this store is that it always makes me feel uncomfortable. Any shop open for business should always be professional, and that means FOUL LANGUAGE should be out the door. "Nigga this, Nigga that." "Shit!" "Yo, foo... Fuck that Bitch!" I've only been there 5x, and I've heard all the cursed words thrown around. Also, they have random dudes that come and go and chill there, so when customers actually come and it's packed, some of them have to stand and wait for hours because it's occupied with non-paying customers. This place is barely getting a 3 for me because they give good cuts and there's a skinny guy who has tatts all over his arms and is the BEST barber I've ever had in my life. This place isn't just a very inviting place. This should be your last resort for a barber shop in the south bay. read more

Been here a few times with my younger brother and the first thing that I think of this place is UNPROFESSIONAL. I get that there is a huge difference between a salon and a barbershop, but even still each business should have a high standard of being professional and efficient. Most of the barbers there at MG's are great at what they do, there is no denying that fact, but there are a few that I feel have no idea what they are doing. (And i say this because one barber, who I regret not getting his name, messed up brother's hair SO BAD that another barber had to fix it). This barbershop has no sort of organization. There is no book keeping of appointments. The barbers will take whatever client they want, even ignoring ones who have waited over 30 mins for an opening. I understand that clients who are regulars have (to a point) priority over new clients, but these barbers plainly ignore new customers. The barbers at this place mess around too much. Even when they have clients in their chairs, their main concern is shit talking with their co-workers and fooling around. They will even stop working on the client, and will stand around and shit talk until they make they're point across (which takes anywhere from 5 to 10 mins) or until their "boss" tells them to shut up and pay attention. And this behavior will continue the whole time that a client is in the chair. Now the reason I place quotation marks around "boss" is because Mr. Mario seems to have no control over his shop. He'll try to hold his barbers in line SOMETIMES, but for the most part his barbers have free range to behave as they like. Mr. Mario is great at what he does. From the few times I've been they're his clients have always left satisfied and he seems to have a great relationship with them all. This place has the potential to be one of the best in the southbay, but unless their level of unprofessionalism changes, new clients are better off going somewhere else. read more
