To level set, I was driving through town one day for business visiting from Fort Worth TX. I had been eating Asian food for the previous few days and wanted something else. Saw Tony's BBQ on the map and thought I'd try it out. I pulled into the parking lot of a small strip mall and wondered where the pits and smokers were. Figured it was a store front and they must cook offsite. I was wrong. Not BBQ, and I doubt there is a Tony. This is another Asian restaurant in a sea of Asian restaurants. I ordered a rice dish. I wish I lived closer to this place! The food is phenomenal. My family each got a different meal: 3 pork bbq sticks, sea bass, bangus belly, and liempo. Each of us gobbled ours up and we were so full but so happy. The atchara that the meals came with is the perfect addition. The soup and Java rice were amazing as well. I wasn't a fan of the peanut bbq sauce that came in a little container, but the meat didn't need it anyway. My other family members tried the halo-halo and the mini babingka. I heard that they also tasted amazing. The service was quick. The restaurant is spacious and clean. I may make the drive out just to have the yummy food again. Highly recommend! read more

Ok, I am Filipino - How did I never come here before?? I've seen there location on Amar but never went there. I ordered pork bbq, lumpia and Bibinka. Okaaaay... I've had my share of lumpia but stop the press! The lumpia is soooo crispy and delish - the highlight and drool worthy, absolute necessary side was there sweet & spicy dipping sauce. Omgaaaaash. Great simple rice bowls for a reasonable price. Long cook time though, so I would say a 15-20 min wait for food if you're just ordering there. We tried the salmon teriyaki special and chicken rice bowl. Both the teriyaki and chicken were well cooked, tender, with a nice grilled flavor. The tomato rice was a nice choice as well. Overall, its nothing special or over the top but I would still recommend trying this little spot out because the flavor and portion were pretty good. They serve up a variety of Filipino BBQ meats and meals including shrimp, seabass, tuna, swordfish, pork, liempo, chicken, hamachi collar, chicken veggie bowls, bibingkinitan, and can soda & bottled water. Most meals priced $12.95 to $18.95 range in 2023. The food is prepared to order here. The place is order at the counter and there is table seating here. I ordered the Chilean Sea bass Meal ($15.25 plus tax), a Skewered Pork Barbecue ($3.35 plus tax), and a Bibingkinitan ($2.50 plus tax). My order was ready in 23 minutes after ordering, boxed and bagged. The food here was really good. The grilled seabass was very soft and tender with minimal bone & great flavors, served with chili peppers & lemon. The seasoned rice was soft and the egg drop soft was of thicker texture. The BBQ Pork skewer had a good sweet BBQ taste, meat and fat were on the chewy side. The Bibingkinitan was served hot and it was a good soft rice cake to go with my meal. THE SUMMARY: A lot of filipino food is known as soups and stews such as sinigang and adobo. But we also have a cuisine that revolves around inihaw/inasal, or in english, to grill or roast over an open fire. Tony's BBQ covers the latter with the essential Filipino cuisine formula of kanin (Rice), ulam (proteins), and sawsawan (dipping Sauce). The rice can either be plain steam rice or java rice. Java rice is slightly spiced rice, sometimes with Turmeric and/or annatto powder which gives it its orange color, and garlic/onion. The ulam, or the main proteins, are a variety of grilled meats of mainly pork, chicken, and fish, glazed with a sweet and/or sour marinade of soy, vinegar, aromatics and sometimes lemon lime soda (amazing sweetener and tenderizer for marinades. Sawsawan are an accompaniment of dipping sauces or pickles to help enhance the flavor and/or cut the greasiness of the fattier meat options. Spiced vinegar with soy sauce and chopped aromatics like onion and garlic, Soy with calamansi/lemon juice. There is also atchara, Filipinos own pickle condiment made of green papaya. THE RECOMMENDATION: For more authentic filipino inihaw, go for the chicken inasal (my personal go to), Liempo (grilled pork bellly and my second go to), Pork or chicken bbq skewers, or the grilled squid or bangus (milk fish). Try the pickled green papaya (atchara). If you love kimchi or picked radish, then you will love atchara. They bake their own mini Bibinka which is a pastry made with rice flour and coconut milk/cream. There is also a piece of salt cured hard boiled egg baked into it, but dont let that turn you off. Its actually adds to the flavor. Let me tell you. This is pretty damn good. Light and airy which is a total opposite to some bibinka I have had, which are usually more dense. Also if you want to buy for a party or family, their family deals are pretty good. For instance, for Family Combo1 (feeds 4-6) comes to about $13-$9 a person for just the 3 meat choices, $17-$12 a person if adding the meal option of rice and sauces/atchara FINAL THOUGHTS I really want this place to succeed. Diamond Bar is my hometown and ive seen that particular location change hands many times. I am filipino american so of course i like the food. Foodies and critics have said for years that filipino food is going to be the next big thing. But it hasnt yet. Personally, i think its because the food can be a little overwhelming for non Filipinos. Our food is still a bit mysterious. I think thats why i added a summary to this review, so people can read it and be less mystified by it and have more confident to try it. read more

Great bbq ribs!!! I even went back the following week and ordered more. Very well cooked and flavorful. The bbq sauce was unique and very tasty. We live in Chino Hills and go to Wood-ranch regularly and I think these beef ribs are just as good and less costly. We ordered beef ribs a la carte and took them home. I would love to rate this place higher, the food is fantastic, don't get me wrong. But I have to be realistic in my review considering I have tried to stop by/support multiple times during business hours on various days and have been unable to since the restaurant has been closed randomly with no notice. This has happened on 3 separate occasions of different weeks, one of which being a Friday which you would think would be a busy business day. This has again been during hours when they say they are open, but the lights are off and the doors are locked. It's frustrating to never actually know when this location is open, and it gets old driving by to check every time. Even calling, you aren't guaranteed to get ahold of anyone. Like I said the food is great, and if the review was based on food alone, they would receive 5 stars. The chicken skewers are always well seasoned and always juicy and I really enjoy their lumpia, halo halo and Thai tea. Staff is always friendly and although it typically has a pretty long wait time, the food is always worth the wait. I can't advise anyone to call ahead, or try and stop by, but in the off chance you're in the area and happen to be driving by, I do recommend stopping in and giving them a try. Advice for management, be far more transparent and consistent regarding your hours. You make it really hard for consistent support and patrons when it's a game to know whether or not you'll be open. read more
