My family stayed at the waterpark a couple of months ago. We received a coupon for a free pizza. ( which was for carry out only) But my wife and son didn't want pizza. They were going to order off the menu and my daughter and I were going to eat the pizza. When we sat down I tried to explain that to the waiter he actually kicked us out and walked away. We stayed at the hotel and went here for breakfast . The service was friendly and the wait wasn't too bad. They were good with my 1 year old. Their breakfast menu didn't have any small options - example, if you wanted a pancake you had to get a platter of three - you couldn't order just one. The yogurt parfait was really sweet ... Too sugary and thin, whatever brand they use you could taste it wasn't as high quality as natural Greek yogurt. Otherwise there really wasn't any healthy options. You do get a big cup of coffee, not the little ones most restaurants offer. Basically: it was okay, prolly not a place I would have gone if we weren't in the hotel. read more

Coming here with the Mississippi River only yards away made for a terrific setting to have dinner. The service was about as good as one could receive. My waiter was one cool fellow. Great personality! Always available when my date and myself needed him. The food was a touch pricey but well worth it. Breaking from my routine I ordered their fire roasted vegetables. Excellent! My main course was a full stack of barbeque ribs. Cooked to perfection. All four of their sauces are a big thumbs up in my opinion! If you haven't been here, you're missing out. read more

Food is over priced for how it tastes. Ive never had a Tony Roma's meal that was amazing. Pancakes had batter inside and had to be sent back. We stayed in the connected hotel and ordered room service- the entire meal was incorrect. Our sampler was missing chips and dip, and salsa/sauces. I got fries with my meal instead of rice like the menu said, kids meal was missing veggie and yogurt like the menu said. Sadly don't recommend it to anyone, their food is nothing to brag about! read more

I'm not sure if your company has noticed how poorly this location is doing. 2.4 stars is sad. There is an obvious reason as to why this is. Saturday July 16, 2016 we had a reservation for 10 at 6:30pm. The restaurant was on a wait and only about 1/2 capacity. We were seated right away but not greeted for 15 minutes. I wish we would have left then. Finally our waitress came along and took our drink orders. We were all ready to order food by then as well. She put the drinks in and returned right away to take our food order. She was pleasant and seemed to be organized. It then took 20 minutes to get water and our bar beverage and an additional 10 minutes for a cherry coke that was forgotten. We continued to order drinks until an hour had passed with NO FOOD! As the restaurant emptied our patients ran thin. The waitress even began to avoid us. One of us went to speak with management about the situation. The blonde hair female manager was not concerned and tried to make excuses about being busy but we were more than patient. NEVER in my history of dining have I had to wait an HOUR AND A HALF for food, let alone a bowl of soup and a side of broccoli. We all had salads and cups of soup. One side salad and a side of mac and cheese were also forgotten. Management took 20% off our bills, but was not in anyway sincere about disappointing us. This location and the staff lack any sense of professionalism or hospitality. I do not blame our server but she should have acknowledged the wait time and management should have stepped in way before an hour and half. I truly hope you look into this locations sad performance, from what I've read this hasn't been the first incident. And from our 10 ratings this location has dropped from a 2.5 to a 2.4 and I'm sure at this rate it will only decline more. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER! read more

Waitress was great but the food not so much. Everyone had ice cold potato's and when they brought us out new potatoes they were cold in some spots and scorching hot in others. You could tell the potatoes were microwaved. $30 meal for microwaved sides with good steak. read more

My wife and I had a completely different experience at Tony Roma's than Aldona S. We too were looking forward to a new upscale casual restaurant in Dubuque, and I was eager to try the ribs. When we first came in, it was hard to believe the transformation - the decor and floor layout make the room look twice as big as before. The interior design is tasteful and contemporary. The best seats are facing the river, of course - be sure to ask for a booth on the east side of the room. There's also some patio seating facing the river that we didn't check out, but looks nice (as long as the fish flies aren't in season!) The bar is at the back of the dining area with a few flat panel TVs - nothing overbearing or crazy. Perhaps the nicest touch that you may not even notice is that the acoustics are very good. In other words, the dining room isn't noisy, even with a full crowd - you can talk to the other people at your table without raising your voice (like, say, Champps!) Our waiter Chester was professional, helpful, and friendly. He probably stopped by our table a few more times than necessary, but I appreciated the attention and the effort to please. I'd rather have an over-attentive waiter than a non-existent one. As for the menu, it's your typical Applebees/TGI Fridays/Bennigan's fare - sandwiches, salads, steak, and ribs. I ordered a full rack of the St. Louis style ribs, while my wife ordered the steak and portabella mushroom salad. Overall, the food was very good. Ribs were nice and tender, and the full rack was plenty for me. The salad was excellent, with some nice contrasting flavors of steak, blue cheese, sunflower seeds, bacon, and a few other things. I'm a bit of a rib freak - I smoke my own - so I should point out the obvious - that the ribs at Tony Roma's are not smoked. And the four BBQ sauces aren't that different from one another - there's no vinegar or mustard sauces, for example. But all in all, the food was well done. So bottom line, we look forward to coming back. Good atmosphere, very good service, and tasty food at Tony Roma's means Applebees and Houlihans have some serious competition in town. And that's a good thing all around. read more

Awful. I can't speak to the dinner side as we thankfully chose to eat at the casino for dinner but breakfast was awful. Service was horrible from the host to the wait staff. We waited forever to be seated and the restaurant was not busy. Once seated, it was freezing cold in the restaurant, unbearably so. The waitress set our drinks down and left. We hunted down the host to get straws. Our food took forever to come out and once it did it was mediocre. Potatoes not cooked all the way through, zero flavor to omelettes, pancakes were like eating sawdust. Once our waitress finally stopped to check on us when we were almost finished with our horrible meal she seemed unsurprised that the food was bad but still just handed us put bill without even an acknowledgement of how awful the whole experience was. Went for the first time last night, but have been hearing about this place for years. Passing by I always thought this was an Italian place because of the name Tony Roma's but it's more of a Steakhouse with a little bit of everything, and known for their Ribs. The atmosphere of the restaurant was good, and the waitress was very attentive. I don't see myself coming back anytime soon... I ordered the rib-eye steak (wasn't a good cut of meat) for the price I was expecting better quality, the fries were bad. Not crispy but chewy and not very salty... For some reason my mother-in-law likes this place, so she made a reservation this morning for the family to have dinner there this evening. When we've eaten there is the past, the service has been consistently poor, and the food has been bland, generic and overpriced. We arrived ten minutes early this evening for our dinner reservation. The party in front of us also had a reservation and were told that the restaurant hadn't written it down. When we checked in, we were told the same thing. They might be able to seat us in 45 minutes. I made a few calls and we were able to get a reservation at Timmermans in East Dubuque. Having the incompetent staff at Tony Roma's lose our reservation turned out to be a great thing. The food and service at Timmermans was outstanding! We had a great meal, a great time, and my mother-in-law has been cured of ever wanting to go back to Tony's again! read more

I was sooo looking forward to the opening of this restaurant in Dubuque. When I found out they opened a few days ago, even with the elevator not finished, my husband and I decided to go there for lunch yesterday. The place looks nice and clean. Menu looks interesting and varied, Well I am definitely a rib person and that was what I was there for. Our waitress seemed sweet and following all the customer service rules all the new staff just went through the previous week. I thought she was a little overbearing and actually pesty. The small talk was unnecessary especially when we were trying to peruse the menus. We started out with 2 of their different "Romaritas", which I thought definitely needed more alcohol. Otherwise they were a pleasant fruit drink. I asked the difference between St Louis ribs and the Baby Backs and was told the St Louis were more marbled and meaty but the Baby Backs are the 'fall off the bone' type. I chose the Baby Backs (luncheon size for $13.99 -- half slab) for that reason. I also decided to try their cornbread souffle instead of fries, with a side salad instead of coleslaw (extra $0.99.) Well the salad was much larger than I anticipated, but that didn't make it better. The tomatoes and red onions seemed wilted, like they had been sliced and refrigerated a day or two ahead of time, making the tomatoes seem almost rubbery. The greens were just 'OK' but they put in so much red cabbage it made it quite unbalanced and actually unpleasant. The ranch dressing seemed tasty although they hardly give you any. I must say the croutons at least were crispy. I was only about a third of the way through the salad when they brought my entree. I complained that it would get cold before I even got to it and I was offered repeatedly that they would reheat it if necessary. I said I'd let her know once I got to it. Also, the entree looked absolutely unappealing -- I swear it was not even a half slab, only about 5 inches long by 3 inches wide, with a scoop of the corn souffle off to the side. It made the plate look huge by comparison. $13.99, mind you. Well I finally gave the rest of my red cabbage to my husband and started on the entree. The ribs were absolutely not 'fall off the bone.' They were dry and no amount of sauce could help that. The corn souffle wasn't to my taste, but I must say all the corn kernels looked overcooked and rubbery, like it had been under a heater for hours, or even reheated from the previous day. I would say the same for the ribs. The waitress kept coming back to see if I wanted them reheated and I told her to forget about it. She said she would have the manager speak to me and I said don't bother. She sent him anyway. He offered to reheat what I had left and I said it was already all dried out and why would I want it even worse. He then offered a replacement, which was nice, but who wants more of possibly the same? On the other hand, my husband had the chicken tortilla soup which was tasty but tiny and the chipotle chicken salad which he rather liked. He thought the southwest dressing would probably be too hot for most customers' palates even though he likes a little heat. He also thought there was way too much red cabbage in the salads. Is that their way of trying to make an otherwise soggy salad seem crispy.? It'll probably be a cold day in hell before I come back to eat or drink here. Ate at Tony Roma's on Friday the 12th. After being told if a 45 min wait we signed in and went on a tour of the hotel. 7 min later we had a table. Not sure what that was about but it was good. Got seated and got some waters, still good. Took about 20 min to get the rest of out adult drinks then another 20 min to order, so we are 40 min in. About 30 min later we got our food. Kids did not like the cheese pizzas. My ribs were good but not world famous by any means., and the twice baked potatoes were cold, the shredded cheese on top was still cold and did not melt :( The shrimp pasta dish my wife got was good. But the other two dishes that were ordered by friends: hamburger and the fish with rice were not good either. The hamburger ordered med. was over cooked and dry. The fish was dry. Both were not finished. The total was over $100.00, not worth it for sure. Slow service, mediocre food. I would not recommend this place. Should of went to the ma and pa place a few block away. read more

I ordered the filet medallions where you get 3 mini filets with different sauces. I was hugely disappointed in the quality. One of the medallions was VERY OBVIOUSLY a much smaller size and because it was thinner, it was well done instead of medium. It was pretty much a hockey puck. I ordered a filet, well done and told them to butterfly it if necessary; also a baked potato with just butter. My son ordered a sirloin, well done, with fries. Both steaks were still very pink and bloody. They brought mine back out, well done, but no butter for the potato....and it was a sirloin NOT a filet. They brought my son's back out and it was as if they didn't bother cooking it more! Three times and they could not get his order correct. Absolutely ridiculous! By this time everybody else was done eating. Oh, and they still charged us for the filet I never got, but did take off the sirloin off the bill. What a very disappointing, frustrating experience. Between a 2-hour cruise on a riverboat and gambling at the Diamond Jo Casino, we decided to have lunch at Tony Roma's Our only past experience with this restaurant chain was at the Tony Roma's in Banff, Canada. This Tony Roma's is in the the Grand Harbor Resort building. We ordered the ribs and the NY strip. My steak was cooked to order properly and really tasty. The ribs were not meat-falling-off-the-bone good, but were good. The service was quick and friendly. The host/manager also dropped by the table to check up on how things were going. The decor is really nice; the view out the window towards the river is nice. The only complaint we had is with a couple of annoying flies that probably entered via the door to the outdoor seating area. They were a bit pesky; other tables seemed to have the same problem. My husband and I went to Tony Roma's for the view of the Mississippi River during our vacation. We had to wait a few minutes before anyone noticed us and then we were seated on the opposite side of the dinning room so we asked to be moved by the view of the river which seemed like we got attitude after that. We also explained we were on vacation and wanted a good experience. Our waitress Lacee B seemed to be short and didn't have much of a personality. She didn't give us our bread D butter that came with the meal and just offered the basics for service. During our lunch there were flies around us left and right. Overheard a waiter tell the bartender he couldn't find a manager. Still no one approached us. When we left 4-5 employees were at the front desk standing around.
