The spinach dip in the bread bowl with the tortilla chips was amazing. The entrées were delicious. Blue had a sampler of barbecue meat- so good, and I had the jambalaya - hot spicy and really tasty. We tried the chocolate chip bread pudding, which was tasty but very hot. We got it to go because we knew we couldn't eat the whole thing. Lovely place to have dinner on the river. the only downsides were the soups in that clam chowder was thin and had no potatoes. No clams was pretty much warm milk with celery and the beer cheese soup was too thick and a little too cloy, would've been good with the chips from the appetizer.

However, our server was excellent and the food was exactly what my husband wanted. Their take on red beans and rice was different but good! I also had their house chips with my walleye. There is a ground level patio, but I did not see any service here so if you can't climb stairs, you probably aren't going to come here. I will say the cheese curds were tasty, but they were fried, so just know that. We all ended up ordering the shrimp skewers because we were leaning towards the healthier side and they were very tasty with all day seasoning and my husband had the Cajun. My biggest complaint is, I asked for a glass of water twice from one server, once from another and ended up, going to the bar to get it myself so super frustrated that that one simple request was not honored. Everything else was fine. It is pretty loud in here for conversation so if you're looking for something a little quieter, you may want to choose elsewhere Total bill was $99 for three orders of shrimp, skewers, cheese, curds, and we each had two drinks each

We were especially impressed that he was able to take the orders of our entire group of 12 entirely from memory while remaining attentive and efficient. I ordered the homemade tenderloin sandwich and was genuinely surprised by its impressive size and quality. During our meal, the owner/chef personally stopped by our table to ask how everything was and took the time to speak with us about what brought us to Maquoketa. It was a thoughtful and personal gesture that you do not often experience, even at family-owned establishments. Overall, we had an excellent experience. Between the quality of the food, attentive service, welcoming atmosphere, and genuine hospitality, it was easy to understand why so many locals recommended this restaurant. We would gladly return the next time we are in Maquoketa.
