I didn't know what it was at the time or how to deal with the pain. My primary doctor recommended I see a spine specialist and begin physical therapy. I had heard about DISC on our local sports radio and from a friend that had been here before. Desert Institute for Spine Care is the leader in minimally invasive spinal surgeries. Everyone has been nice so far and informative about my situation and what to expect. My journey is still at the beginning for me. I am starting out with the least invasive options for myself like physical therapy and spinal injections to help manage my pain. So far I am seeing some moderate success with these options and able to enjoy life with minimal pain. Everyone's journey and experience is different. I am just thankful I have somewhere to go if things get worse for me.

He did a phenomenal job. Absolutely minimal scarring and no lingering pain years later. I tore the ACL in my other leg in 2016, had forgotten Stefan's name or contact info and didn't go back to my friend out of embarrassment. I went to someone else that I found through my insurance company. He was so much worse that I would end up giving him a '2' in comparison If I didn't know how good it could be with Stefan I might have given the new guy a 4. Massive scar that split and then it got infected and he didn't treat it or reconnect it. Worse still is that knee is more likely to give me pain during exercise. Record Stefan's information in your contacts. He should be your first go-to.

I had scheduled surgery with Dr. Frankel at OrthoArizona after a pre-surgery exam. Dr. Frankel,…read morethrough an agent at OrthoArizona, demanded that I pre-pay for the surgery only 11 days before the surgery, with an amount that was only their estimate of what the insurance cost would be. I couldn't afford this amount and had to cancel the surgery. They still demanded that I pay for the pre-surgery exam, which I was billed for AFTER the exam, as is normal. No way! I filed a small claims court complaint, and they then admitted their wrongdoing and settled with me out of court. Very greedy and unethical behavior. Legally, patients are not required to pre-pay for medical procedures, but the company did not disclose this. Avoid Scott Frankel and OrthoArizona!

That same doctor also did a small finger DIP fusion to eliminate the severe arthritis pain.....well pain is worse than ever. I met with Dr. Frankel on January 18 of 2024 and showed him the x-rays and reports from the other surgeon. He said the fusion itself looked like it healed well and the pain I was feeling was the arthritis in the joint below (PIP). He examined both wrists and said to give them about 3 more months of healing as it seems like it is the scar tissue. Anyway, nothing was done at that meeting but I felt very confident with him and will follow up in 3 months if I am still having a problem.
