Bought a 2013 BMW here in May 18, they basically sold me a car they bought at an auction with bad value stems seals. I found paperwork from the previous owner in the glove box when I got it home, I called thewm right away and told them I'm bring the car back its using a lot of oil. The previous owner, who I contacted told me to take the car back to them. They refused to take the car back and said I had signed a contract. Since Ive had the car, paid 25K, in addition I have had over 12K dollars in repairs. They absolutely scammed me! They bought the car at an auction said they went though a high level of inspection (total lie) and the car is in great condition. The car is beautiful on the ouside but it obviously had a bad motor, since all 32 valve seals in the engine needed to be replaced. This place is a total scam! Stay far far away! read more

After an intensely stressful week of dealing with car salesman all over Portland, I decided to go through the "Costco Auto Program" to find the car I wanted with little hassle. The program recommended this dealership, and I couldn't have been happier with the results! I wanted a '16 Civic Coupe LX-P in Blue (which was rare to find in Portland at the time) and the team here bent over backwards trying to get it for me as fast as they could, even offering to give me a loaner vehicle in the event that the car didn't arrive by the time they quoted me. The sales crew was very nice and laid back, with no high-pressure tactics during signing, or in the offering of additional features that comes with buying a new car. Our only complaint was when we were given the extra set of keys, they were handed to us broken, after we had signed papers and were loaded up. They do their best to get me in according to my schedule, even at the last minute, keep me updated when working on my car, and are very customer friendly. I bought a 2018 Honda Fit at this dealership in November 2017. I will never ever in my long-legged life go back. I only went there in the first place because it was the nearest Honda dealership that worked with the Costco car program thing. Turns out, with the Costco price discount, I only saved about $100. Totally not worth it. When I bought a new car in 2005 using the Costco price I knew exactly what the price was going in. But this time when I did it via Costco, I was subjected to SIX HOURS of sales crap! That's right. Six hours, when it should have been over in maybe an hour. Two tops. I already had a loan approved with my credit union, yet they STILL had me fill out paperwork. They wanted to see what my credit worthiness was so they could try to tempt me with THEIR loan offer, even though I told them to forget all that stuff. I have a loan approval letter with me, so don't waste my time! When I got to the dealership, the saleswoman, Erin, suggested I test-drive a car that I really had no interest in. It wasn't new and not even the kind of car I had already decided I wanted! So that was a time waster. (They really wanted that car off the lot!) The saleswoman told me that she was going to treat me the way she'd want her mom treated. I thought, well, that's sweet -- at first! And then (when it was all over) -- wow! Is this how she treats her mother? I had gone to the dealership knowing what car I wanted. I had a loan approval letter. All I should have had to do was test-drive the Honda Fit and sign some paperwork, right? Well, hell, no! Not at this dealership! So, now she's wasted my time driving a car SHE wanted to sell (not what I wanted to buy), had me fill out paperwork that was not necessary, giving me "options" on payment amount, interest rate, etc., when I ALREADY had my loan worked out with the credit union, with the amount to be borrowed and the payment per month for five years. To top things off, after I got the saleswoman finally to understand that I was going with my credit union loan and that I will only pay so much for the car, and we were just waiting for the final papers to be drawn up and the car readied for me to drive away, Erin, the saleswoman decided to punish me some more. I had already been there for HOURS and she just could not stop trying to sell me useless stuff. I don't know how many times I told her I wanted nothing extra. I just wanted to buy my car and leave. I was so tired (and hungry by then), that I about lost it. I wondered, really, Erin? This is how you'd want your own mother treated if she were to come alone to a dealership wanting to buy a new car? I mean, aren't good salespeople supposed to be a little more "in tune" with their customer? Erin knew I was tired and upset, yet she didn't care. She told me that she was "just doing her job"; that the management wouldn't like it if I got away without being told about such and such an accessory or product. But the thing that makes me really angry is something that I'm sure the dealership has done to many, many, many unwitting car purchasers: They told me I HAD to get the Anti-Theft Protection Warranty, that it was part of the deal and I could not say no. I did not want that extra warranty. I did not want to pay for it and told the saleswoman so. It was a big sticking point, but Erin kept saying that I ABSOLUTELY had to pay for it and it HAD to be part of the deal. So I really felt I had no choice. Plus, I WANTED THE HELL OUT OF THAT PLACE! So the amount of $389 was written into the sales contract. It wasn't until I had gotten home that I saw in teeny tiny little print (that was NOT pointed out to me when I was in the finance office signing a mountain of paperwork) that I did NOT have to have that warranty included. I immediately contacted Gresham Honda and demanded that amount be refunded to me. It took a few days for them to say okay and it took about 45 days for the amount to be credited to my credit union car loan. What they did was unlawful and I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. But right now I'm too tired from writing this review. :( But it's coming. My advice: Don't go to this dealership, in particular, and be wary of ALL dealerships, in general. Do your homework before you go and stand your ground. I HAD done my homework beforehand, but I think because they kept me there for SIX HOURS, that I became very tired and just wanted to be done with it all, so was more vulnerable to being taken advantage of. Plus, I'm a 62-year-old woman. Easy prey. read more

We went to Tonkin Gresham Honda because this is the dealership that had the Costco deal on the Honda Pilot we wanted. The sales guys Mike and Dane were wonderful. Very decent guys. We talked about what we wanted to drive, they sent us the price sheet, and after we had visited other places to drive different makes and models, we settled on them. We liked the car and we liked them. Like other reviewers here, we were very clear that we wanted the vehicle at the agreed upon price, didnt want the extended warranty, and guess what - the finance guy, Jeff, did all he could to coerce us, guilt us, insult our intelligence to get us to purchase the extended warranty (first by extending the length of the loan, then by reducing the cost not once but twice). It was the salesiest of sales pitches and what we hoped to avoid by getting Costco pricing. We spoke to the manager at the end who offered to "talk to him" about it, but hoped we would still rate his sales guy well for the dealership even though the finance guy's performance is asked about in the survey. He acted like he was shocked that the finance guy did this... but upon reading these reviews, it is clear this is not uncommon at this dealership. I want to know who takes ownership of persistence of that kind of tactic. I hope to sit down with the manager tomorrow and have things made right. I have questions. We would like to complete our dealings with them on a positive, professional note. That is how we approached our end of the deal. read more

Warning - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH RON TONKIN GRESHAM HONDA. I've never had a worse experience in my life. It was completely cliche in the way they treated this single, white female. I wanted to buy the first brand new car I'd had in forty years. This should be fun, right? Exciting, right? Instead I was prey to a sales manager who lied to me and traded away at least one and possibly two cars that I had been waiting for since mid-June. The GM said he "wanted to help" but was at the mercy of supply. As far as I'm concerned, he perpetuated the lie and played additional car salesmen games. He said he wanted to make it right but not by getting me the car I wanted but asking me to settle. When I woke up from the hypnosis I realized just how badly I had been treated and they had no intention of making it right. DONE. read more

This is the worst car buying experience I ever had. DO NOT GO HERE! I went in looking check out some Honda Civics with my dad since he knows more about cars than I. After finding one I liked and being told that the people at the dealership were all about family and being caring we went in to talk about pricing. Of course my dad tried to get a bit of money off the car because what dad wouldn't? The dealer went to go ask his manager and I could hear is manger who was speaking very loudly comment "Who is this guy?!" Then mentions something along the lines of "what color is this guys asshole" obviously referring to my father. WHAT?!?! And he said that multiple times! I got up and told my dad we're leaving right now since he didn't hear anything he seemed confused but no way was I buying a car from them. I've never met a more unprofessional group of people in my life. I ended up going to a different Honda dealership that day and had a much better experience with a much nicer sales man and bought a car from him. Manny, the salesman, was great. Very nice demeanor and I was happy to give him my business. He was incredible respectful and he really stood out as a really good guy. However, his "manager" (I think Josh Dawson) was I was not impressed with at all. Never had the courtesy to come and introduce himself. Told me they would not fix a rock chip because I got such a good deal on the truck. What is that? Tell me you won't fix it because it's not policy or whatever. Don't tell you gave me such a great deal that you cannot fix something. Obnoxious, rude and disrespectful. Also, finance manager Jeff Westrand would not take "no" for an an answer when I told him I did not want to purchase an extended warranty. I do not have to give him or anyone else a reason why I do not want to spend more money, but he felt justified in pushing me as to why I would make such a foolish decision when I have bought them before. The little smirks and shaking his head do not make for a comfortable purchasing feeling at all. Both of those guys have to remember that it's about the customer first, not the sales, not the extra little amount of money you can squeeze from him or her. No, I will not go back to this dealership anytime soon. Too bad for them too. My credit score is off the charts and I make the perfect customer. When I purchased a new Honda I fell for the Honda maintenance package of $995. Two days later I went back and signed a cancellation notice and said I changed my mind. It has now been 6 weeks and no refund has been sent. I called the number provided to me and asked about the refund. The very polite woman said the dealer had not sent a cancellation request to them. Sold me a used car... 2010 so not old... but the brakes are going out and the price was switched to a higher price than agreed on. I am glad I just didn't sign and take their word for it. They added $1700 to the price? Think not. It's my fault.. I signed but now I have the hugest regret ever. I'm sure it will be dead in a year... just... beware. I dealt with Ben.... I'd advise to deal with someone else.... or better yet a different company no offense but I can't believe I got hosed by the famous Ron Tonkin.... they gave me their word the car was good. Just took it on the freeway instead of their test drive route and it isn't what I was told... a stable good car. I got a good rate but they messed up on the paperwork and financing too. They had ME fix it and drive around town to get the cosigner s signature when they should have wasted their time fixing it... but they let me waste my day. I'll never go back. So I've been having car trouble and I came into have my car checked up. It cost me $111 for them to tell me, they can't find anything wrong with my car and they have done everything they could. I've told them countless time what the problem is and what happens when the problem does occur but, not even one person there can tell me what's wrong with my car. Even the car maintenance people who you suppose worked on many many cars before could give you some what of a answer since you're paying them to do so. But they ignored me and didn't really care much about my time and my service and charged me $111 with no answers. Great service right? I told them to check my alternator because that's most likely the problem when it comes to losing Electric power but they said they ran some testing on it and it was running great. Lies! I took my car into another shop and they told me its my alternator not giving enough Electric power into my car and it needs to be replace. So Honda, I paid you $111 for zero answers and I paid Acura $0 and they found the problem. As you know many customers would be as furious with my out come. I will never come back for any service. So the dealership made it right and I received a refund for both the extended warranty and the "non-cancelable" clear bra. I increased the rating by only a star because it's still shiesty. I drove to the dealership on 3 separate occasions to request these refunds nothing but rude, "you can't get your money back, I'm afraid it's impossible" kind of customer service. I quote the law, they mention their "small print" but can't remember what it says. Here's the trick, and they don't let you know this at the dealership. You must write a letter formally requesting a refund and it doesn't hurt to submit a complaint with the states attorney general online or thru the mail. They try to mislead you at the dealership to think that these complaints means nothing to them, they do. They corrected my issue. read more

I do not write reviews very often, but considering my recent experience at Tonkin Gresham Honda on Stark St. in Troutdale I feel like I need to. I purchased a new vehicle at this dealership last summer and now have approximately 10,000 miles on it. The purchase left me feeling like an idiot after I begrudgingly agreed to around $4,000 in additional add ons. I blame no one but myself for agreeing to sign on for these things (additional window tinting etc...), however, I feel like they have the deck stacked in their favor when negotiating. It feels like their main goal is not to supply the customer with a quality product at a fair price, but instead to wring every last cent out of the pockets of every customer that walks though the doors. My main problem with this dealership, however, happened yesterday. My cars low tire pressure indicator came on and I decided to take the car in to have it looked at. The service tech seemed very friendly and informed me that if the tire was repairable that it would cost me $14.95 (I'm thinking, a repair is free at Les Schwab, and it should be free for me at this dealership since I just bought the car here only 5 months earlier!). But if it wasn't repairable he would let me know how much it would be. After 45 minutes, not surprisingly I was informed that the tire was not repairable. So he recommended not just to replace one tire on my 10,000 mile car that I have bought from them, but ALL 4! So then he says for $798 they could get those replaced right away. Anyway, I said No and immediately drove to Les Schwab. I did not tell the Les Schwab people about my experience with Gresham Honda. TEN MINUTES LATER, THEY FINISHED REPAIRING MY TIRE AT NO CHARGE AT LES SCHWAB! I asked what the problem was, and he said that it was a very small piece of metal in the tire and that it was a very simple repair. Do not go to Gresham Honda!!!! Average car dealership but you can get a better deal elsewhere. The salesman did a great job but their sales managers really need better grounding in marketing and customer retention. They let me go without a sale being less than $100 apart that another dealership in the area gave me and then some. I question any dealership with marginal management that does not understand the value of good PR and online presence customers provide and can't figure out that less than $100 difference on a base model car is not a smart practice. If you have to question management at a dealership you have to start looking elsewhere. read more

I purchased a 2018 Accord from this dealership today. The overall experience was fine until I got to the finance part of the deal. I am a first time car buyer so my interest rate was naturally going to be a little high. The man who helped me said he was "able to get me a lower rate" but didn't say how he did it. What ended up happening was he added on an OPTIONAL service package for $3,000 and didn't think to mention he added it even though I clearly stated I did not want their extra packages. Adding this would have ended up costing me more money than the higher rate! It was not until I got home I noticed he had done this. When I called him back to discuss getting this removed he said it would not change my rate (so why add it in the first place?) and was very rude when I came back to sign the form saying I did not want it. Not only did they scam me with this ridiculous charge they added on "accessory fees" totally almost $700 at the very end. My added floor mats should not have cost me an "accessory fee" of $700. I cannot express how disappointed I am with my experience at this dealership. I was taken advantage of and will not go back to this place again. read more

Bait and switch...saw a car online and called to verify it was still available and was told it was. They asked my name and said they would have it ready for me to view and test drive when I arrived. When I arrived I was told the car I was interested in was sold "last night"...but "gee, we can find you the car you want...". There was no way I was going to work with them to find a different car as I believe I was intentionally lied to just to get me on the lot. Their loss since I left and went to another lot where I was treated with respect and integrity and bought a car that same day. Every time my wife took our brand new Fit in for an oil change the service writer would try to sale her on some B.S. service and warn her it would void the warranty.For instance on the first oil change he tried to sale her on a 7000 mile servicing that would cost 150 dollars I called them up and the guy talked to me like I was an idiot,telling me that if we didn't have it done it would void the warranty after he told me this I explained to him how my bro-in-law is the manager at a Honda dealership and what he was saying was B.S. the phone got silent.He didn't know what to say.Becareful when you go there they'll try to over charge you especially if you're a woman. read more

DO NOT BUY!! (ESPECIALLY FROM MARK) I recently purchased a 2015 Honda Civic from this dealer. It was my first, and will be my last purchase from them. My sales person was fantastic. Low-pressure, easy to work with. The problem came with the sales manager, Mark. (closer, in their words.) I told him from the very beginning what my budget was and that I wanted to stay within that. During the initial paperwork I said I was "interested" in the clear bra and door sealants. "Interested" to him means yes, I want them. So those optional products that I was interested in were added to the contract with NO firm, verbal commitment from me. Signing the papers I failed to notice (admittedly my fault) the optional products were added on for a total of $2,000. I realized this the following day. I stopped by the dealership and spoke with the sales manager, who told me "you told me you wanted this, so it was added. You signed the papers" He told me I would need to reach out to the finance manager to achieve any resolution. I played phone tag with the finance manager for a week (who is a really really nice guy), who just informed me that he had a meeting with the GM and Mark, They agreed that since I signed the papers agreeing to the terms there was nothing they could do. Icing on the cake? I am required to have the products installed at their dealership within 90 days. So I have to go BACK to this hole. I wish I could drive my brand new Honda Civic right through their showroom. But since that would be a waste because I really do love the car, I'll settle for burning their plastic license plate holders in the fireplace and telling EVERYONE I know (which is a lot, because both my boyfriend and I work in the automotive industry) to stay far far far away from this dealership. read more
