I live in Orlando but I visit Fort Lauderdale quite often. I went to Ton Vangard because I came across a Groupon for a shampoo, cut, color & blowdry for $99. I'm always hesitant to go for things that seem too good to be true, but my experience with Allison proved to me that you don't have to spend an outrageous amount of $$ to get amazing results! From the moment I walked into the beautiful and vibrant salon, I knew I was going to enjoy my time there. It's edgy and fun, but still luxurious and relaxing. The staff is super friendly and loved my shirt, which definitely made my day! :) Also, not to mention that I called them on a Saturday morning and they were able to fit me in on the same day! That was definitely a deal-breaker for me when I was making the decision of where to go. Allison was such a sweet person and talented artist! She taught me so much in the few hours that I was with her. I told her what I had problems with, what I liked and didn't like and she was able to come up with an amazing solution for my hair. We did a shampoo, cut with long layers, gloss and blowdry. The whole experience was amazing from start to finish! Allison pretty much walked me through every step she took so I was completely involved along the way. That was so important to me because not many people care enough to do that for you. I've been to many different hair salons where the stylist just rushes through everything to get it over and done with. Allison took her time with me and taught me WHY she was doing certain things and HOW they worked/made my hair better. I loved that I was able to ask her questions about my hair and she would give me her true and honest opinion about what works and doesn't work! Allison truly did TRANSFORM my hair and I couldn't have been happier with my results! I couldn't stop running my fingers through my "new" silky, black hair and neither could my boyfriend, lol. I couldn't seem to wipe the smile off my face for even days after I got my hair done. Nice place super friendly staff.Planned to get a hair cut and balayage ( quoted $365). Left with a nice refreshing haircut only. Its a bit pricey for my taste but great place. I usually get my hair done at Peter of London in kendall(miami) which I consider a pricey but reasonable salon price (haircut /balayage $250.00). This was pricier but other then the cost I thought the salon was nice and the staff was awesome (everyone was super nice! Can't emphasize enough about the staff). read more

I've been going to the same hair dresser for 18 yrs and he messed up my color. First time trying a salon in the area. Brandon did my color correction which was very difficult process since I have bleached hair. He talked me through everything, since I was so nervous about damaging my hair. He used a balayage technique to tone and color. It came out beautiful!!! I would recommend Ton Vangard & Brandon to all who want great color. Also, had Rose for an updo for New Years Eve. Brandon Is AWESOME! I came here do to the reviews and looking up Brandon online and seeing all his very CONSISTENT work. Every balayage he has done is beautiful and i'm sure it's because he really cares about his work. The salon was located within a small shopping mall like corner and while it seems humble on the outside it is welcoming and trendy on the inside. All the staff was sweet and friendly and the end result of the hair is beautiful. Such great service! I sent a yelp question about a particular service I was looking for. Almost immediately I got a response AND an appointment scheduled. So the first appointment was a consultation trying to decide what I want to do in regards to possible clip in extensions or temporary extensions and I wasn't sure what road I need to go down but Jessica was amazing with explaining all the different options based on goals that I had for my hair. Then I went in about a week later for a service with her and she really takes her time explains everything she's doing has great conversation and make sure you're comfortable the entire time. The feel of the salon is very relaxed and laid-back yet contemporary (you know that they are up-to-date with everything current that is going on). Then Jessica even called less than two weeks later to make sure everything was OK which I really appreciate. And the fact that she went into how to care for certain hair colors versus other hair colors I was used to really made a difference. What a great experience I had at this salon! From the very beginning, Irene was so nice and extremely helpful. She listened carefully to what I was looking for and made sure to match me with the perfect stylists. Jessica did my color which came out perfectly - I have resistant grays in my otherwise very dark hair - and the coverage was flawless. The products she used also did not burn or irritate my scalp which has happened in the past with other products. I look forward to seeing her again for a bayalage process :) Stephen was my stylist and all I can say is WOW - hands down, best haircut ever!! And trust me, I don't say this lightly. I have very, very thick, coarse, curly hair that is very difficult to deal with and have had more than my fair share of bad haircuts. I got styled by Savannah who really couldn't have done a better job. I wanted something fun, but not too risqué because of work and she hit it right on the nail. I got a blue and green balayage, gloss, haircut (because I had at least 4 fingers of death), and blowout. I hate to leave negative reviews. However, I'm very upset. I originally went to this salon in hopes to get an appointment with Brandon - he was unable to do my hair because he said he would be going out of town for the summer. He suggested I go to Jessica... so, I checked out her instagram and decided to go for it since all of the photos are beautiful. Jessica is very sweet and accommodating... we went over how I'd like my hair- we looked at instagram I showed her what The type of blonde tones I like. She showed me a photo on her instagram of a blonde that she thought would look nice on me & I was open to her suggestion. I would have liked if my hair turned out to look like that photo but it was FAR from it. My hair was extremely brassy pretty much orange and grey on the bottom. I told her I wasn't into it and she had me come back in to "correct" it... they sent me off with a treatment, "restoring" shampoo and conditioner. Thanks, but no thanks. It is now bright yellow on the top and grey on the bottom. I spent the most I have EVER spent on my hair in my life and I've been dying my hair blonde since I can remember. I will never go back...although, she gave me a haircut that I actually really liked. Over all you go back for a well done finished product... I hate my color. I now have to wait a few weeks to fix my hair ( again). read more

I moved here from Georgia a year and a half ago and I was afraid to go anywhere to get my hair cut because I was so used to having the same person cut, dye and style my hair for many years. The good: The woman at front desk was polite, professional and very helpful. They were able to book an appointment for the same day I called. Good selection of products (although they were out of the one my stylist suggested) No wait, my stylist was ready & waiting for me. Good music selection. Not an uptight vibe, but fairly cool and casual. The bad: The parking is a mess. I must have been offered a beverage (for sale) at least 14 times, I understand the up-sell idea, but who drinks wine at 11 am on a tuesday? I showed my stylist 3-4 cuts I was considering and she chose one and said "let's do this one" Then she proceeded to chop off my bangs (note: non of the photos shown had short bangs, all were chin-length bobs that were longer in front and shorter in back with varying degrees of asymmetry) She continued chopping layers into my hair like Edward Scissorhands. Then when she was just about finished she said I think I'm going to just leave this back here, even though it's flipping up a bit, I like it that way... ignoring the fact that I told her the primary reason for my visit today was to get the hair off of the back of my neck for summer. OIY. I'm pretty sure I didn't ask for my hair to turn out like Carl's from the Walking Dead. The other thing was when I went to pay, they charged me for a top level stylist, when I was quoted a lower rate when I called. Whatever... I wouldn't have minded if it was a top level cut. But I have had a succession of bad hair days and this is on my top 5 list of worst haircuts. The ugly: My stylist also shampooed my hair with first scalding hot then cold water and somehow filled both ears and down my back with water. And she kept asking me to scrunch way down in the chair so she could reach better. Now I'm tall, but no "that" tall. Also when I made the appointment I noticed that they had a nail salon, so I asked if they used fresh tools with each client and was told "yes". They don't. She basically spritzed them with a little liquid from a spray bottle, not even soaking them or sterilizing them. No massage chairs, no frills. Very uncomfortable seat with no back. My advice, skip it. My overall impression is "where the heck are all of these stars coming from?" Will I be back, uh... NO. read more

So, I went to Ton Vangard to get a tattoo from Meira Yael and I can honestly say she will be the ONLY person that will tattoo me ever again! She is a true artist that cares about her clients and she is a perfectionist for sure! She made me feel really comfortable from the moment I walked in and she goes over everything in great detail (as far as what is going to happen, tattoo after care and such). The whole staff made me feel welcomed and it was a clean and friendly environment (not like most places you go to get a tattoo). Everything was clean and perfect, I couldn't have had a better experience. Everyone ALWAYS asks me who did my tattoo and I am so proud to say that Meira did it from Ton Vangard! I called this salon late in the day ( around 5pm ) never been there before and they quickly took me in. It had a great vibe.. Very clean cool art on the walls and great music bright open energy. I got a haircut by Brittany. And she is amazing it was the best haircut I've had in years .. she actually made my haircut an experience!! She gave me a "Dry Cut" which I've never had.. and it was amazing. She is very knowledgeable and very informative as well. I was extremely excited to get my hair cut at this salon. I had read all the exceptional reviews and thought I could do no wrong. I wanted a long bob (lob) and brought a few pictures to show exactly what I wanted. Needless to say, not at all what I was expecting. After an hour of sitting in the chair and $95 w/o tip I was devastated by the way my hair looked. My hair now has short layers and I'm wearing it in a bun. Not the result I was expecting. read more

if you have long hair and care about keeping it - or want any semblance of a decent haircut - STAY VERY FAR AWAY FROM HERE i would give it zero stars or sadly -100 stars if able i had the worst salon experience of my life here recently i have had long hair my entire life (25+ years) and stressed OVER AND OVER how important keeping my hair long to me was - i stated OVER AND OVER that I HATE SHORT HAIR - and that i did not want a short haircut the stylist - STEPHEN - even pulled out a picture of himself with long hair and told me he "understood how important hair was" and that he "had long hair for over 30 years" apparently, it was a lie because i went in with 18" hair and left with a 1/2" short hackjob in the back this is no exaggeration, and my hair looks as if it was chopped with a hedgeclipper. i could have done a better job myself, or someone with no haircutting experience could have done a better job my hair did have breakage, but that started at 10"-12" - therefore we agreed that this was THE SHORTEST that it would be at the shortest point of the haircut. i brought in multiple pictures of a style i thought may work with the breakage, which was shorter in back than in front. so it was supposed to be 10-12" long at the back, graduating to the front, like an a-line bob, but on a MUCH LONGER level this guy did not even cut my hair on any type of line or style that i requested, or anything like any picture i showed him, didn't section it off properly, just seemed to grab random pieces of my hair and hack it. it all happened so fast, and he turned me around to look, and to my horror i saw my bare neck and i was in shock as any stylist knows, even if you were cutting an a-line bob, which i DID NOT ask for - you leave the top layer long and it meets the underneath layer - which is the shortest. my hair is short everywhere - it is disgusting, no style, and completely uneven. even the manager told me i should not let anyone else touch my hair or cut it any shorter since it is already so short and uneven - just let it grow i do not understand or believe that a stylist with "30 yrs of experience" would ever do this to a client, nor do i believe it is acceptable from a salon of this supposed quality i have to call BS. nobody has "30 years experience" and has a client that states repeatedly that they "HATE SHORT HAIR" "DO NOT WANT SHORT HAIR" and "WANT THEIR HAIR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE" and still hacks your hair he stated that "you're too sexy & beautiful to walk around with your hair looking like you have it now - it looks like you don't know what you are doing" now it is clear that HE is the one who DOESN'T know what he is doing this salon claims that they offer "toni & guy cutting techniques" there is no way in HELL this is true - the quality of the "haircut" i received was below that of a hair cuttery the salon is EMPTY - both when i went for my consultation and for my appointment, I was the only patron in the salon - that should have been my first cluen -do not make the same mistake that i did and trust someone you do not know i am now the very upset owner of an extremely short haircut that i vehemently stated I DID NOT WANT i have cried every day for 6 weeks. nothing will cure this but time, and I will probably never again trust someone to cut my hair after this horrific experience i am now a slave to extensions for years which is exactly what i stated i did not want to be, just wanted the damaged bottom of my hair cut off and continue to grow it out longer. extensions are the only way to hide (partially hide) the hell that is underneath. the hair is so short you can see the hack job both underneath - which is 1/2' long, and on top of the extensions which is about 3" long. there is no way to hide that and i am the one that now looks like an idiot with a wig on thanks to this jerk i did go back to the salon the next morning - and turned around to show the manager this hackjob - it only took him 2.5 seconds to promptly refund my $ - so at least i got refunded for what will take me at least 5 years to recover from did i mention this place charges $65 PER HAIRCUT ??!!! HIGHWAY ROBBERY ! VIDAL SASSOON ONLY CHARGES $75 ! also - i gave a $20 tip because i am a nice person, not because he deserved it! obv, i was TOO nice! this price doesn't even include a decent shampoo. more like your grandpa running water through your hair and barely washing it. horrible. for this price you should receive an excellent shampoo and scalp massage. i received nothing. to make matters worse, when i was standing at the desk talking to the manager, stephen had the AUDACITY to come over and ask what the problem was, then tried to justify his hackjob by saying that my hair was broken to that point! 1/2" ! COMPLETE LIE & BS! i had already showed the owner the picture that was taken of my hair wet in the salon before he started cutting it. HORRIBLE STYLIST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE read more

I went to this salon because of their 5 star reviews. Got my hair done by Leslie. I asked for ombré hair and showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted. She said the hair I wanted was called a different name but that my hair will look extremely similar to the picture and promised I'll love it. The hair in the picture started brown and gradually changed to a grayish blonde as you went down. The process seemed like she knew what she was doing and the atmosphere of the salon was very good. But, as soon as she starts drying my hair and I look into the mirror, I see that my hair is blonde. Completely blonde. About 3 inches from the roots, blonde. Not a gradual change like I wanted, just brown to orange to a light blonde. Terrible. The ladies all said they loved it, it's nothing like I wanted. Not coming back. Update: Thanks for your response: but what you're saying isn't true. Leslie asked which color to use (blonder or silver) and I said silver. She told me how much it would cost, and it was beyond that.
