The lady at the front was so rude to my girlfriend and I and it was our first time there. We left because she was so rude.

I'm just visiting relatives, so I found this place on YELP by location, price, and ratings. I'm not that picky about my color right now since I'm traveling, only need to hide some grays, and will only see these folks once. It is located inside the mall closest to Macy's. The outside and signage is cutely decorated. The inside is small with 9 stations available. All of their waiting chairs were full, so I guess that's a good sign for their work, but maybe not time management. I was greeted by a nice lady who told me Young was running behind. I reminded her it was an appointment at 2:00pm, and not a walk in. She said it would be about 15min. I told her no problem and went into Macy's to buy shoes I didn't need. When I came out, they were waiting for me...it was 2:23, so I was at fault this time. Young seems nice, but there does seem to be a small language barrier. I asked for an all over color, but she only wanted to do the roots. She did do pretty good on the color match as far as I can tell, but they leave it wet, so I'll know more when I get home. My biggest issue is she used peroxide based color on my roots. She said it was needed to cover up the grays. Considering my hair is dark brown with some reddish tint naturally, and I only get dark brown on my hair, there is no need for her to use peroxide. Peroxide based color does so much damage to your hair, so I haven't used it since I was a blonde almost 10 years ago. After we discussed this, she did apologize and say I'm a new customer so she didn't know. I told her she should discuss that with her customer first, because had I known, I would have told her not to use it. I would not come back here. read more

I took a chance, stopped by, and saw that they had a ton of customers unlike some other salons I walked by at the mall. I was immediately seated with Charlie who was a doll. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she was confident and knew exactly what to do. I decided to donate about 12 inches of hair so it was a dramatic cut. Charlie made me feel excited about my decision and I trusted her to do her thing. She only charged $5 even after washing my hair and adding a little bit of product. I've cried after haircuts less dramatic before but I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. She didn't blow dry my hair but that was fine with me. Most salons try to straighten the living daylights out of my hair which is naturally wavy but she encouraged me to make the most of it which I loved. As I was getting my cut done, I was watching another stylist work on the guy seated in front of me and his cut was pretty dramatic too. It was amazing to see how fast they work and produce that kind of quality. Don't let the price fool you, the stylists know what they're doing. I'd definitely go back again. read more

Cuts and color is a terrible salon, I've received some of my worst haircuts from this abomination. One of the barbers (Mike) messed my hairline up so badly he deserves to be fired, also Mike's cosmetics license has been expired for about a year now, meaning he isn't even legal aloud to cut hair. I have to go to school tmr looking like my forehead is 8 inches long. 10/10 would not recommend getting your haircut here, sure it's 5$, but it sucks. read more

I was skeptical about getting a haircut here at first because they only charge $5 but I was very lucky to get a stylist that is a true gem. She listened to me and gave me the hair cut I asked for. She was quick and very professional. They get quite busy and sometimes the wait is long. But she is worth the wait. They are located inside the Melbourne Square Mall. I have been going to this place for YEARS to get my hair cut. Kurt is one of the BEST / MOST TALENTED people that work there. He is also one of the few (if not the only one) that actually is a real STYLIST. I get my hair cut really short, and when Kurt cuts it, it doesn't grow out weird and drive me crazy with flips and dorky-looking things like that. Also... I had an appointment to get a haircut at this place. Unfortunately the barber that I had an appointment with could not make it. The front desk receptionist that is usually there was gone for an extended period of time and the one there was too busy to acknowledge me until she observed me asking a barber if he did a certain hair style. Prior to this, she was on her bluetooth headset having a conversation completely irrelevant to the job. He said that he didn't. The receptionist finally acknowledged me and stated I should have said something when she asked if anyone needs a cut. I told her that I didn't hear her say that. No " hi" or "I'm sorry" from the recepptionist. At that point it was a half an hour past my appointment. With all the rudeness and lack of professionalism there, I left without getting a haircut. Went for the first time jan very long time and had "Young" trim my hair... She was so sweet and attentive to detail! I wasn't expecting much for it being $5 but she even washed and conditioned my hair ... Lots of other places charge for this... Not here! Great place for a good cut and great prices too! I've been coming here for the past couple years and it's always been good. Be warned though, if you go on the weekend expect it to be busy. I recommend, if you can, go on a weekday because they're less busy. Even then, they're fast even when busy. I alway request Charlie and I love having my hair cut by her! It's super nice when she remembers you a month+ later even though she's only cut my hair once or twice. She's a wizard at cutting hair and recommend you ask for her, she's usually really busy just FYI, but worth the wait. I hope this place never moves and if it does, I hope they tell where they went! Love this place. Update 2/5/2018: I unfortunately can't come here anymore. I started coming to a new stylist here since Charlie had left and my last two cuts haven't been very good... Also the past 3 times I've called trying to get my stylists hours they've told me "I don't know, he might work blank blank blank...". I've been here before and received decent haircuts. But, I won't be back. I wanted to get a simple buzz cut and I almost left with a mess. The barber started cutting away with his clippers, very simple. When he was done, I asked to see the back of my head, he said, "I don't have a mirror." He also didn't use any sort of brush or hair dryer to remove hair from my clothing, and hair removal is standard procedure for most barbers. I paid, and went back to see my companion. She pointed out some terribly missed spots on my head. So I immediately went back to him and he cleaned up his work. However, there was already someone sitting in his chair. He used the same clippers directly from the head of his new customer, on me. Extremely unsanitary. I will never go back to this place. I've received some nice haircuts from here, but this one experience was terrible. Enough to prevent me from trying again; unprofessional, sloppy work. read more

I have always had a good experience here with Charlie. When I went in today, I was told she "wouldn't be back for a long time" before the girl said "you deserve someone that's good.", which I thought was to imply they didn't think Charlie did a very good job. I should have known when Anya didn't understand when I said "I want the sides cut to a triple zero, and the top to half an inch" that I was in trouble. 2 other stylists had to cut in and explain that a triple zero was *not* a half inch blade, before she finally thought she understood. Well, she was close. Close enough, that I figured we'd go with it, and it wouldn't be an issue. English isn't Anya's first language, and I understand that sometimes things are lost in translation. But then she commented on my mustache. "It's so long, do you have a girlfriend?" I let that go, but the warning lights were mounting rapidly. When we got on the topic of where I was from, and we discussed my time in San Francisco, her first comment was "lots of gay people in sf, no?" Why yes, Anya, there are. "There are also lots of Chinese people, Italian people, and Russian People" I responded to her question." "But lots of gay Russian people?" That's where it went downhill. From there, it devolved into a lecture of how great Putin is, how great he is for Russia. and that I should be proud of Trump for everything he's doing for America. I am all for political discussion, and indeed as I was the only client in there, most of the ladies had joined in to share their opinions. It was great! Not everyone was agreeing, but no one was lecturing anyone else on their beliefs. Until Anya decided it was time to explain how people will lose their jobs without trump as president, and that I should be ashamed of not supporting him. I avoided asking her why she came to America is Putin is such a great leader, but eventually left before my haircut was even finished because getting a lecture of a Russian woman on how great trump is seemed just too ridiculous to be even happening. From start to finish, every single thing was telling me I wasn't in for a good haircut, and Anya did everything in her power to make sure that was indeed reality. So now I've paid for half a hair cut, and will have to pay someone else to finish it. Until Charlie returns, I won't be going back. I'll stick to Gary's Barbershop or Synergy Hair loft until she returns. read more

Awful experience as soon as I got there. I didn't feel like waiting so I called beforehand to make an appointment and the receptionist told me to just walk in. I thought to myself "great I won't have to wait." I got there and they were extremely busy so I had to wait almost an hour. When it was finally my turn, the hairstylist and receptionist started yelling at each other about how the child who was waiting for his mom had been waiting longer than I have meanwhile the receptionist is telling the stylist to just take me because they're trying to clear the line. The stylist finally agreed to just take me. No "hi" or "how are you". Silent and just started spraying my hair with water. Didn't even ask me what I wanted done until my hair was wet. All I came for was a trim, angles and layer. Simple enough and no stylist has ever given me a hard time about what I wanted done. After arguing with the stylist about the fact that he didn't need to cut 4 inches of my hair to get an angle in the back he finally started cutting my hair. He made me stand up (yes stand up) while he was cutting my hair, to sit back down just to stand up again. Not to mention he was extremely rough when he was brushing my hair and my hair was whipping in my eyes as he was brushing my hair. When he showed me my hair when it was done, there was a huge chunk of hair that was longer than the rest of my hair. He said "yeah that happens." Guess you get what you pay for. read more

Been going here over 7 years. Have had Young yell at me in front of customers who sat slack jawed. Teary eyed, I was even offering to pay and just leave with product in hair and another stylist finished up the job. Told because of this I would get free service. I called after hurricane Irma and manager said to come on in for service. Yet when I go there the service is now full price and AGAIN Young yells at me in front of whole salon with customers gawking. I listened to her, thinking she knew what she was talking about because of her experience.
