I made reservations about 1 month in advance for a full balayage. They will text you for the appointment details and confirmation. I do not think they have a main telephone line at the Ton Vangard salon. You must make appointments because they do not accept walk-ins. Parking can be a hassle in this area, so I'd park in the back. Ask the front desk if you have no idea what this means. DO GET YOURSELF A CUP OR TWO OF THE LAVAZZA CAPPUCCINO. It's complimentary and delicious!! I arrived early prior to my appointment time, and Isabella greeted me at the door. She's super friendly and took a long time on my hair. Some bottom strands of my hair were slightly blue though, which was not what I expected at all. She said the color will fade away after several days. Communication is horrible. I contacted both Isabella and Ton Vangard on Instagram, and I have never heard from them. Also, this place is very pricey!! They even charged for a mini cut ($50 or so if I remember correctly), and some salons include this in their color treatment with styling. They recommend Zelle payments, especially tips because you cannot add the tip onto the main payment. Was it worth it though? No. I didn't LOVE my new hair for the total price. read more

Well, the party is over and my hair is ripping out at the follicle. The application looked great but was technically wrong. The sections were not precise, inconsistent and too much hair in the tape in. The owner tried to work magic and I thought she nailed it. BUT now I have bald spots and she had her employee last week fix some that were falling out in less than a month. She put them so close to my hairline and scalp that it ripped out my hair again. I am a stylist and have owned several salons etc and would have made a point to fix a client's hair that was being ripped out. Nope. Then she offered clip ins and I have a stylist who was going to "rework" them with a darker shade. Then she won't give me those. I'm supposed to be interviewing for several luxury brands and can't with the condition of my hair/scalp. Needless to say I have retained an attorney to handle my experience here. It's really unfortunate but I wanted the owner who DID MY HAIR a to fix it NOT a stylist who ripped out this chunk of hair. There are 3 other bald spots that will probably never grow back. read more

I normally dont write reviews but after multiple negative experiences, that I feel compelled to warn others. Please read this in it's entirety. I previously went to this salon from 2021-2022 and I was very happy. Unfortunately, the stylist I saw passed away. When I met my new stylist I showed the photo of the previous stylist's work. I requested baby lights with a shadow root and extensions. I was then capped, not highlighted, and all of root was removed. When I complained, I was told a "smudge root" would be added to correct the problem. When I returned, dark dye was sporadically placed over my scalp, essentially adding the roots that I had paid 200.00 to correct. On top of this my extensions were never removed and then damaged in the process. The owner then agreed to replace the hair at the next appointment. This was not honored, rather the hair was "flipped towards the bottom so no one would see it." Stupidly, I returned to the salon thinking that the mistakes would be corrected. Again, I showed several photos and requested a shadow root with baby highlights, and my extensions to be toned. I was then capped and told new extensions would be applied because they didn't need to be toned. The final result was the same as before. No shadow root, no dimension, and extensions that do not match. The extensions were not even the same in length. Insult to injury, when asked for a refund I was told that I would receive 50.00 back from 500.00 I had spent. When I contested I was told to leave and that the police would be called. If you read other reviews, you will also see similar experiences where the owner refuses to return money and communicate. Please learn from my mistakes. My experience with this salon has been profit over customers. Kindness and patience is seen as an opportunity for financial gain. I hope none of you experience the shame and embarrassment of looking like a real life Daenerys Targaryen in your lifetime. read more

Outstanding service and great attitude. We had a party of six going for shampoo and updos. Of the six, only two had reservations. The salon was welcoming, gracious and unbelievably accommodating in helping all of us. We all had different requirements ranging from hair straightening, regular blow dry, to complicated up-dos and make-up. If we lived in the area, there is no question we would visit regularly. This is my second time going to Ton Vangard and I absolutely loved it. My stylist this time was Lindsey. It's been quite some time since I've cut my hair and to be honest I was a little worried since the last time I cut my hair a hair stylist (from another salon) cut my hair way too short. Lindsey was not just a pleasure to talk to but she was also very knowledgeable about hair. She analyzed my hair texture and gave me tips and tricks on how to use products efficiently to suit my hair texture. Another thing that I loved about Lindsey was that she did a dry haircut. Previous I've only gotten wet haircuts but I loved that she did a dry haircut since it allows her to be more precise with my cut. She was also very detail oriented. I've been seeing Brittany for over a year to cut and color my hair. I have super thick hair and struggled for a long time finding someone who knew how to cut it properly. If I could give this business no stars I would. One, they use their cell phones because the owner doesn't have a landline, so it is completely unorganized. I had blonde hair. I called up because I found these amazing pictures on Yelp. The owner raved about Jessica since she was a color expert and taught others. I wanted to dye my hair brown with balayage. I literally brought in a million pics ( she wasn't even looking) because she was rushing. I asked for chocolate brown with lighter brown highlights. The walls are black and their is no lighting. So when she blew out my hair, she assured me it's special color and it would get darker. I called the next day but again, they don't have a landline. I had to DM her on Instagram to tell her that is wasn't what I wanted. This time, she had me come in again. I gave her new pics, and I assumed since the balayage was not there and looked like a single, I would ask her to match it to her caramel color ( which is just a toner). She replied how she thought her highlights were orange. Nope. They are caramel. She also asked a bunch of times what different colors were. Like the color of a hair brush. I'm not trying to be rude, but I think she might be color blind. Long story short I paid 420dollars, more than I have ever paid ( I moved here and used to go to Cutler Salon) to this guy Ryan. He does celebrity hair like Hailey Bieber's and charges 330. This color is mortifying and the pic that she promised me with the results she definitely didn't do. It's prob from Pinterest. She has no talent and no reason to charge that much. I tried to be nice and called the owner. She was so mean. I'm not a mean person. It was just a lot of money for nothing. Then a sick girl blew out my hair ( Jessica had the nerve to ask me to pay 45) when I came back to get the *shit show fixed. The girl was coughing all over my hair, and actually got me sick. Since the owner didn't comply, I called my bank. I am mortified. I also have her a 75 dollar tip via venmo. The guy that cut my hair wasn't bad. I'm going to ask for a charge back for that, too. Came here for a balayage. First and foremost this place is NOT at all worth the price they charge. I called and was quoted $180 and specifically asked about extra charges for bowls and what not because I know that I have very long thick hair & I was told that they don't charge extra only $80 for my haircut ! Yet Somehow at the end of my appointment I was told my total was $380? (Ok, why?) they charge for toner, and she used two different ones apparently to blend it which for the record I didn't request two toners or an ombré which is basically what I got. And they also did charge for another bowl of color so after tip it cost me close to $500 which is honestly just outrageous if you ask me. Considering I didn't even what I asked for NOT even close. My hairstylist was very friendly and outgoing that's the only reason I'm even giving two stars even though I told her exactly what I didn't want which was a caramel blonde color and that's exactly what I ended up with. But the most important part of this rant is that THEIR COLOR LITERALLY RUINED MY HAIR! My sister is a hairstylist back home and I have had multiple balayages done over the years and never had an issue, but their color has taken my nice thick and smooth hair and turned it brittle to where it breaks when you touch it. 10/10 don't recommend. read more

I had an amazing experience with Steven the other night. He was really great at explaining to me the current state of my hair and gave me suggestions on what we could do. While the style and cut was a little pricey in my opinion, Steven really made it worth it for the experience. He's a great conversationalist and a great stylist. I had a lot of damage to my hair and he was able to shape everything up, keeping in mind that I did want to keep my length. Went to Isabelle who corrected my color previously botched by another local stylist. I recently moved from the west coast and had a colorist for over a decade who was very familiar with my hair. I had a very specific base and peekaboo highlight shade that I needed replicated and touched up after I moved. After two failed attempts, I was ready to give up and just dye my own hair. I took one final risk and called Ton Vanguard and got connected with Isabelle. I gave her the exact formula and brands used by my previous stylist and she replicated it just how I wanted. I am over all very satisfied with the color. I don't know if I'll keep it up for long Bc the cost is very high to color and cut in this area, but I'm happy I know who I can go to if I want to color my hair. read more

I've been coming to this salon since I first moved to Florida. I had had a few bad experiences with neighborhood salons giving me "old lady hair" with outdated styles or terrible cuts or highlights. Every time I go to Ton Vangard I know I'm goimg to get a great, modern cut. I've even had other stylists admiringly, even a little enviously, ask me "who did your hair!? That's a great cut!" Part of the problem with salons is that I'm artsy and quite nitpicky. I found this salon via yelp. After moving to the Fort Lauderdale area I had yet to find a good hair salon. I was absolutely floored by this salon. The staff are very friendly/ upbeat, their stylists are extremely skilled and you get top notch service. When I initially called the salon I was greeted by an extremely friendly and chipper staff member which made me feel welcome and important, unlike the snobbery you can often encounter at other luxury salons. Upon arrival I was treated with the same upbeat attitude...always a major plus for me. As I waited I was offered a drink of my choice. Pilar took very good care of me I am incredible pleased by her work and how she truly listened to my needs. She used barrier cream on my head which is something I always take note of. Since I tend to color my hair dark, nothing is worse than having a dark ring around my head. She gave me an EXCELLENT head massage while she rinsed my color out in their super comfortable lounge-like chairs. She made sure I was happy every step of the way and it was much appreciated. Once I was all finished, I was closed out by yet another sweet and welcoming employee(I believe he was the owner). He made sure everything was satisfactory and shared with me some of the other services they offer there. Now for the part that usually always scares me... The bill(pause for horror film music). The price of color cut and blow dry was HALF of what I normally pay in Miami at comparable salons. What normally causes me to flinch actually left me with a smile on my face.
