Such a lovely cafe in Montreal! The interior is very nice and the vibes here are so chill. There is a decent amount of seating but of course you can always take your order to go. They can be pretty busy so I suggest arriving early. You order your food at the front and pick up your drink on the side. If you're dining in and you've ordered food, they'll give you a number so you can grab a seat and they can bring your food to you. My cappuccino was good. :) We got the Suzy (Avocado Toast with Bacon) and the Aurora (Smoked Salmon Bagel). Both things were delicious and can even be shared if you normally don't eat a big breakfast. The breakfasts we got were around $20 and $22 each. With our one drink and tip, it ended up being over $60 for breakfast at a little cafe, which is slightly more than what I'd normally pay - but perhaps Montreal prices are a little higher? Tommy Café, despite all the hype, was unfortunately a bit of a disappointment for us. The café itself has an interesting vibe, with quirky bi-level seating and plenty of character, so we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, the food just didn't deliver. The salmon bagel was particularly disappointing and almost inedible. We also tried the spinach and feta scone, but it was quite doughy yet dry, and we couldn't manage more than a few bites. The coffee was decent and the service was fine, but neither was enough to make up for the food. Maybe we simply caught them on an off day, but based on our experience, Tommy didn't quite live up to its reputation. It's a cute yet lively spot to check out for the atmosphere, but I'd go in with tempered expectations when it comes to the food. read more

Love this place! Literally our first hour in Montreal, and we were looking for a coffee cafe with personality, and we found it at Tommy Cafe! We had great cappuccinos, Avococo sandwich and the Gobble (turkey) sandwich. We ended our meal with a great lemon/blueberry cake and a carrot cake. What a great place to hang out in a rainy day on Montreal! The decor is hip, vintage and super fun--plus it's in a beautiful, historic building. Stopped in for brunch. Food was excellent. We had the Solstice avocado toast with burrata and tomatoes and added a sunny side up egg. The presentation was beautiful although it needed a little salt and pepper. The croissant breakfast sandwich was excellent. We got it without the prosciutto so it had smashed avocado, sunny side up egg and Gruyère (I believe). This was hands down the best breakfast sandwich I have had. It came with a side salad which had a delicious vinaigrette dressing. My only knock on this place was the service set up. Four of us spent about $150 for brunch. I don't mind paying that for a great meal, which it was. For that price point, it would have been nice to have someone seat you and take your order instead of having to find a table and then go back down 2 floors to the counter to order. Our hotel was really close to this crazy three level cafe that's been carved out of what appears to be some stately bank building, so we had to try it out. Turns out Tommy has really excellent food and drinks! The Tommy Latte, vanilla coffee with lucky charms on top(!), was a wonderful crazy sweet treat. The food here was also excellent. Their avocado toasts are wonderful, served on thick, star shaped bread and packed with all sorts extras for the price (at least compared to the American dystopia of paying $18 for literally one piece of toast and a half avocado). I was expecting college kid hang out cafe and instead I got totally solid bistro. We liked it so much we came back twice in a week. Rad space, lovely food! Kinda miss it! read more

I know that this place is just a chain coffee shop but the vibes are actually impeccable. I didn't know Montreal's coffee scene is so strong, and I really loved all the cafes I've been to and this one was a great representation of the culture. We were able to easily find a table for 3 at around 10am on a weekend, but coming in 30 minutes later you might have to wait. I ordered a Perle Sandwich and it was genuinely quite good. I was a bit worried that there wouldn't be that much food and I wouldn't feel full when they first brought the plate over, but it was actually delicious and filling. I loved all the bits of vegetables in the tuna salad which went very well with the bread. The salad on the side was great too. I think though what was more impressive was the interior and how all these different types of furniture items came together into one cohesive unit. It was both botanical but also vintage vibes. Large autumn latte (three shots of espresso) with oat milk sounds good for my hubby, less the whipped cream and cinnamon toast, cereal. Grabbed a large autumn latte, chocolate drizzle and pistachio croissant and the last Nutella cronut. C$20.70 We ordered to go, but the latte was put into a mug, while the cronut had the chocolate croissant were put into wax paper. The Nutella all comes off of the Cronut in the wax bag. Annoying. :( would be better to have the Nutella inside the Cronut. The Cronut is not so good, the dough seems like it's old and stale and rather hard too. The Nutella is the better part of this stale Cronut. The chocolate drizzle is so-so, the croissant isn't that buttery, flaky pastry you expect at all. It's quite dense and the inside is soft and mushy from the rather sparse dusting of pistachio nuts. Their pastries are quite overrated. The autumn latte was just average. Nothing special. I went here twice during my recent trip to Montreal. Once to pick up a chocolate croissant and matcha latte to go (both amazing) and then again for brunch with a group of 10. It's a cute space and the menu has a nice range of salads, sandwiches, and other brunch items. The service was overall pretty quick considering that it was fairly busy and we had a large group. The only downside was that the tables are tiny, so it was tough making room for everyone's plates and drinks. We wanted to find a spot to have the money date and couldn't have found a better one. We were able to find seating upstairs and for it to be pretty intimate and somewhat private. There were a lot of people (as it was a Saturday), but something about the seating makes it feel still spacious. When you first walk in, it feels like there is a stage with seating. It's a beautifully designed coffee shop with a lot of yummy natural lighting. I ordered a mocha and it was probably the best mocha I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about the rich cocoa they used in it and the fresh coffee. It was divine. My partner really enjoyed his coffee too. They have food options, but we didn't get food on this visit. The avocado toast looks pretty yummy. ***PRICE*** My mocha was about $8. ***BATHROOM*** There were two gender neutral restrooms upstairs. While visiting Montreal, I made a point of stopping by this café after bookmarking it on Google. The cute decor and positive reviews had already caught my attention. The layout was unique, with multiple levels and scattered seating, although it was tricky to find space for our group of four and we eventually split into pairs. We tried several items. The iced matcha latte with vanilla wasn't the strongest I've had, but the flavor was still enjoyable. The lavender latte was a pleasant surprise, carrying the lavender notes beautifully without being overpoweringly floral. The matcha cookie quickly became a favorite. It was so good that we went back to grab the last one. While I wished for a slightly stronger matcha flavor, the texture was perfect and the sweetness level just right. It just really hit the spot. The Avococo was another delicious pick, with well-balanced flavors. The grilled cheese was tasty but small and a bit plain (they could use more cheese and maybe even a variety of types), while the tomato soup served alongside was creamy, herb-forward, and flavorful, though also quite small for the price. Overall, everything we tried tasted great, the service was friendly, and the café itself is beautifully decorated and unique. Tommy Café had a great vibe in my opinion. The service was filled with kind people, there was nice background music that I believe is perfect for a café and the food that my friend and I had order was served in perfect timing and was really enjoyable; it was delicious and filling. The only thing I would have recommended that might need a little change is the tables. Some of the tables were too small; when looking around it look like there wasn't enough space to have a plate of food next to your work/laptop. However, don't let this stop you from still coming to Tommy Café as a place to hangout; for I find this place still great for me and my friend. We just wanted a place where we can sit down, relax and catch up and Tommy Café did exactly that. Would also recommend this to anyone who just needs a calm place to have lunch and needs to do some personal/school work. This location has 3 floors; first floor is the ordering area and second and third floor has seating, the third floor has a couch as well and can lounge. After walking around downtown, I decided to treat myself to something sweet. Per the recommendation of the cashier I bought a pain au chocolat and a chocolate & almond croissant. Both were devilishly delicious. The pain au chocolat melted in my mouth. The croissant was on the sweeter side, but so it goes with most things that have almond paste. Tommy is an absolutely gorgeous cafe that offers a wide range of drinks, pastries, and brunch items. The interior was beautiful and showcased the light outside very well, and it emulated a cozy space to catch up with friends or do work. We got the lucky charms latte, which was expensive but worth the try. We got the caramel and hazelnut syrups for them and enjoyed them very much. We then ordered the smoked salmon bagel but were not particularly impressed. It tastes exactly as you would expect it. There isn't much of a wow factor for it. The drinks were therefore a 5/5, and the bagel a 3/5. WiFi is available, and the service was amazing. We got tips from the staff on where to go on our little adventure in Montreal, and they were very warm in greeting.
