Been there 4 times and had 4 different people cut my hair. So far they are 1/4. The 1 good cut was from Tommy himself. The 3 others were not from Tommy. One of them was perhaps the worst cut I have ever had. I should have taken the hint when she got up from the nail painting counter to cut my hair. Moral of the story? My partner has been coming here for years without any problems until this past week! We came in and waited for over an hour (not unusual for here) and finally when he got called up two guys made a big stink because they felt like had been skipped because the guy they came with was in The chair already! They did not put their names on the list! So tommy turned to my partner and said "we do families first here!" What? No if their name isn't on the list then they should have to wait! The price for a haircut for men is great. Tommy is really skilled and has a pretty fun personality. He is hilarious at times. He is also an expert at creating fades. The only negative, at least for me, as other people already mentioned is that he is always pretty busy. There is even people waiting outside whenever I pass their on Saturday and Sunday. Bad hair cuts first time here and I will never come back. The person was in rush, that hair cut came out bad never ever coming back. He left my hairline un-even and said that my face was crooked. I got a haircut today from Tommy who owns this establishment. The haircut was cheap and fast. The only problem I had is that I did not see any cleaning supplies. I got a haircut with the same tools used on the guy before me. Also I think he was trying to go so fast he pulled a little on my hair rather than cut it. I was glad to see him using scissors rather than all buzzers. I got a fade and this is my second time here. He remembered who I was which was really nice and he remembered what my haircut was last time. All in all I would say it was ok, but keep looking for that one haircutter who is just perfect. read more

The woman Stylist just shaved off half of my son's eyebrows!!!! He is almost 5 years old and knows how to sit still for an haircut! I was busy dealing with my hyperactive 1 year old in and out, once she was done we just paid and left. I didn't inspect the haircut and everything else, we got home and thats when I noticed that half of his right eyebrows is gone, i was panicked and called the salon to let her know. The guy ( presumably the owner) said oh ok sorry! I said please let her know, he said ok I'll let her know and hung up on me before I could say anything else! How did she manage to get her clipper so close to his brows? It's a safety issue, what if it got into his eyes? I'm more upset about her , being dishonest. I'm sure she was aware of it, and still she didn't admit to it and just let us leave? I would have forgive her and probably just laughed about it if she admitted to accidentally shaving my son's eyebrows! read more

I have been coming here for 8 years and bring my 3 Sons here to get cleaned up. Great haircuts and good prices.....One thing you need to know!!......Its a very popular place and they have a system where you sign your name and can leave and come back...If you don't know this and you just go in and sit down, you could get the feeling that folks are coming in after you've been sitting for a while and just walk in and go to the chair?.... But its all good if you know the system.....There is a review a few down and the guy says " Tommy says we do families first" I was the other guy....It was an honest mistake....with the sign in sheet....At the end of the day, yes sometimes there is a bit of a wait,.....But the results are worth it ...And that mix up was my fault not Tommy's. Today I stopped in for a hair cut around 1:30 pm and as far as I can tell there is only one person waiting for a cut. Tommy and his son Johnny were not there as far as I could tell. The wife Katy , I believe that's her name because I heard it from an old couple and their adult son that came in after me say the husband likes his hair cut by her, was on the phone chatting for a long time when I arrived. Weather they were on lunch break or not , she should of told me instead continuing to talk. The old man got his hair cut before me which was wrong unless he had an appointment, because I was there before him. After that Johnny came from the back from break and it was the turn of the guy I first saw, which was fine but then after him they claim it was the turn of a guy who just came walking in from the restaurant next door. They have a sign up sheet but they have no sign saying you must sign it. Then these two guys came in after the guy from the restaurant and one of them got a hair cut before me , which was wrong also. After him Katy finally says it's my turn. I've been going to them for haircuts ever since I've moved to this neighborhood, I'm a loyal customer, so I do not know why they skipped me , letting others before me? I didn't go in for a fade so I don't care who cuts my hair. I will let this instance slide this time, but looks like I will sign that sign up sheet next time so I don't have problems again. In the past sometimes they disregard the sheet all together and just call you up to the chair. Also they should not hold places for people on the sign up sheet. It should be if you are not back in five to ten minutes you loose your place in line. read more

After passing by for years, my husband decided to give Tommy Cuts a try. It's closer to home than the place he usually went , and he also wanted to support a Richmond business. On the first visit, Tommy took his time, taking off a little at a time, especially at the top and back, which were fuller and longer than the side. The service was great and the haircut was terrific -- definitely 5 stars. After that, the haircuts were good, but not great --3 stars. Tommy wasn't always available, but the others did a decent job. Several weeks ago, my husband went in for a haircut. Apparently Tommy had started to cut by the numbers and didn't know and didn't bother finding out what a haircut "just like before" meant, although one might think the current haircut might have given him a clue. Since my husband has had the same hairstyle for 20 years, he didn't expect Tommy to shave his head, starting from the middle! Okay, he didn't shave it off completely, it was about 1/8 of an inch. Not a bad haircut if that's what you want. The good news -- Tommy is fast, especially with a shaver. The bad news -- the haircut is not necessarily what you want, and people might laugh at your altered appearance for a few months. If you don't mind the inconsistency, and occasionally getting your head shaved, whether you want to or not, Tommy Cuts is the place to go. read more

I was skeptical at first, but when Johnny the son of tommy cut my hair I was please.... Ever since, I haven't stop going to get my cuts there, so did my two youger brothers....Johnny, as well as Tommy are one of the friendliest barbers I ever met, along with the best service..... I strongly recommend this barbershop, you won't be dissapointed.... I also reccomend to be there early.... I only give it 1 star because I had to. Took my family member there to get a hair cut. Won't make that mistake again. They are cheap but very unethical. The place is not clean and I question if they sanitize their instruments. We signed in and waited, then someone else came in and the man Tommy spoke to him in his native language, and they took him ahead of us. When I said that we were waiting first, he seemed to laugh it off and told me to wait it would not be long. After the mans hair cut they took my family member and did not change the blade of the razor just brushed it off. That's when I said never mind we will go someplace else, and we left. He wanted 5 dollars for his time and I told him that I wanted 5 dollars for my time I had to wait longer, as far as I see it we can call it even and I left. We went to Super Cuts down the street by Safeway and had a more professional and cleaner hair cut for about the same price. We didn't have to wait either. read more
