This is on behalf of my husband who was loyal to this place---- be warned, husband had the worst experience today. Normally they are good but today they failed in all levels.. In his own words.... I was the 4th person waiting and roughly an hour after the 6th person arrived, then 5 min later that 6th person was moved and seated for service cutting me and the person after me. No communication being said by Tommy the owner or the other groomer (female) who seated this special customer. Was not explained if that person had an appointment or anything.. the person after me complained and that discussion didn't go well.. I got up and proceeded to exit and find another place. I have been coming to this place have been loyal for roughly 5 yrs. I'm a big tipper and I loved their efficiency but today I'm going to have to rebuild a new relationship. The sad part is that I recently moved back to San Francisco, to think I've crossed the bridge for this terrible experience . If this is how they treat ordinary customers, then it's best to sever the commitment. I will hope to find an awesome barber in the bay. read more

They are cheap but very unethical, Tommy would take people who are from his ethnicity before their turn while waiting. His wife is there but she don't seem to help that man customers just clean the floors. The locations not clean by poor up keep. On the other hand the price of 15 is why I put with this location. I always supported this business, but today I realized that I no longer could do so. My brother and I came to get haircuts today on May 29, at around 10:50am. I got my haircut with his other partner. My younger brother was up next to get cut by Tommy, but instead-- he had a customer who came after us get cut before him. I asked nicely if my brother can get cut by Tommy because we did come first (and my brother wanted to get cut by him). Tommy: "the other guy cut your brother's hair". Me: "oh so you can't cut his hair, we came first?" Tommy: "no the other guy" Momentarily after he finished the first two guys, he went up to me and asked "do u want me to cut your brother's hair" which doesn't make sense because literally after two whole customers he would come to accept him as a client? I replied with "it's okay, if you don't want to cut his hair you don't have to." He didn't reply and continued to help the others. I really wanted to like this place . I came here because I'm always recommended . Anyways , I come in , sign in w.e no biggie , I understand there's wait , but I have been sitting here for about two hours watching them pull out there favorites of the list . I have not been called but the more I sit , for some odd reason my waiting time is extended . I'm looking at people walk in and walk out . I guess they have favorites . I haven't even seen the quality of work yet but I can tell it's going to be careless by the way they are careless of others inside there business . A fabulous place to get your hair did! Katie (one of the owners) is great. She has been cutting my hair for about 10 years now. Today I decided to go with something new & had her layer it a bit, then hi-light it all over. It took a pretty good chunk of time, & she still charged way less than I would have paid anywhere else on Earth. I always make a point of tipping very heavily here, since haircuts & everything else are such a steal. Her husband (yes, I think his name really is Tommy) is very laid-back. It's a total family-run business. Over the years I 've met Katie's mom, her kids... & today I learned that she has been a vegetarian for 18 years:) That's always a plus, in my book, so I love supporting their business even more! Don't be put off by the lack off swept-up hair, or by the messy piles of magazines. These are good people, they know how to cut hair well & they're very relaxed. You'll walk in & wait sometimes, but it's always worth it. Usually, you're in the chair within minutes, at most. While I was there today I saw 3 men & 2 school-aged boys come in lookin' scruffy. They all left with very stylish haircuts. And, need I say, my hair looks fabulous! read more

If you dont like it well go find another Barber, i believe every barber is like that and or are taken by Appt. you will not find another barber that receives walk-ins, so like it?? Good! I got a great haircut from the female barber there (Tommy's wife?). It was just what I was looking for: quarter-inch off all around (scissor cut), tapered in the back, thinned-out sideburns, cut off the ears. I like keeping my hair long, and she followed instruction well. She didn't talk much and the process took less than 10 minutes--both good things because something about her or her equipment smelled a little funky ... like a rotten egg. I don't know if it was her breath, her hands, or her scissors, but something was definitely offensive to my nose. Generally, I enjoy quick haircuts from silent barbers, but not at the expense of good customer service. My barber seemed rushed, even though I was the only customer in the shop. Once she was finished, she held a mirror behind me so I could see her work, then she unbuttoned the neck strip and towel and yanked it off my neck. "OKThankYou," she says and walks to the back room while the other barber (Tommy?) rang me up. She could have just been having a bad day--I'd understand that. I love this family owned shop. I haven't gone here in 3 years though.. but i'll rate it now. Usually highlights are very expensive right.. and I have Very Very Very thick hair. It was 65 or something like that. At first I thought that was just for crown highlights. But it was my whole head. YAY ME! I don't know about now. I should go back there and check. I heard he raised his prices by a couple dollars. but still very affordable.. but my highlights during that time came out very very nice. I had liked the way they cut my hair too. Hard to find a barbershop around town as good as this. Been a customer here for almost 7 years running. Tommy, the owner, is a pro at their finest. Finish a cut in about 10 mins max. I really needed to find a new no frills haircut place near me in Richmond. I read all the reviews and decided to head over and check it out. I'm glad I got there right when they were opening because a line formed right away. Tommy was there. He was very nice and was acknowledging people as that came in. I watched him cut the hair of one person and I really liked what he was doing. He seemed very up to date with haircuts. Katie cut my hair. She was very professional and listened well to my various requests. I really appreciate the attention she paid to what I wanted. I was very happy with the outcome. My hair grows super fast, so I'm happy to find a place nearby. They're also very reasonable at $15. read more

Going to a place like Mark's, I was a bit skeptical about going here. At first, I didn't expect much for the price.. Boy, I was WRONG! Tommy Cuts is legit if you get it cut from the right person. The lady who cut my hair out of 3 of 5 times I visited she did a splendid job. The other 2 of 5... smh to the person who did that! won't mention who though, since it's unnecessary. Didn't even feel like I got a haircut after, and pretty much did a overall half ass job. C'mon now. Anyway, the lady who did cut my hair took her time unlike the other person. It feels good that I found a barber locally and don't have to pay 20 + tip (like at other places) for a nice & clean fade. read more

I love this place. After 15 years of getting haircuts, I finally found my go-to place. Sure, the wait can be extremely long but Tommy is awesome. I love this place so much that I waited 2.5 hours to get a hair cut and Tommy was courteous enough to wash my hair for me and cut my hair exactly the way I wanted. He knew I was waiting a very long time so he only charged $18 dollars! So i gave him an $8 tip. Couldn't ask for a better hair cut. read more

I use to go to barber shops like Majic Juans across the street but barber shops are overpriced I've been going to Tommy's for quite awhile(5+years), i. OK I'm a real diva when it comes to my hurr... I like to be fly and this is my go to spot for looking fly. Tommy, his wife and johnny (his son) are the sweetest bunch. My only problem with this place are that they are too awesome too many people love them... But they are always worth my wait and time. Tommy and the lady working here (his wife? I honestly have never asked...) both give a great fade cut at a reasonable price. Everywhere else I've gone had ridiculous prices and weren't always even that great. The only thing I'd ask for at Tommy Cuts is a closer fade, like a shave, but the zero on a trimmer looks great as well. Definitely my go to spot in the East Bay. read more

Tommy always know what you want. If you're his usual customer, he would already know--unless you tell him what you want differently. The wait is usually long-- since he's that good at cutting hair. If you want to be the first in line, there's a time in which his store closes but he sometimes leaves a paper outside to fill out your name, so come in when he opens and you'll be the first to be there! read more

I've been coming to this local haircutting joint for six years. Tommy and his wife are sweet people and provide a decent man's cut. I've been there enough, they know exactly how I like it. One or two of their stylists can be a bit rushed at times (and a little too sloppy) but for a basic haircut, I wouldn't go anywhere else. I always walk past Tommy's whenever I eat at Huong Tra's, & it's always busy. Needed a cut bad before a trip & didn't have time to get to my regular barber, so thought I'd give Tommy's a try. When I sat down, my first impression was that it wasn't the cleanest place around. I sat in front of the register, which sits on a glass display case loaded with a pile of junk & debris that literally looks like it hasn't been touched in years. The other counters were pretty cluttered up too. When it was time for my cut (about 5 min. wait), I walked through hair on my way to the chair - apparently they don't sweep after every cut. I sat down - standard routine, she cut my hair & did a great job, then again, my hair isn't complicated - just a #3 clipper. No chit-chat, which was fine. What really bothered me is that the clippers & combs were just laying around in a pile from the last cut (or cuts). She quickly brushed the hair off with a brush that was also lying around in the pile. I looked around & didn't see a sanitizer jar anywhere, but then again, it could have been buried in that glass display case under the register. As I looked around, I saw two young boys getting their fades & wondered about lice & who knows what else might be living in those clippers she just used on me (& then tossed into a drawer, without sanitizing). $12 is a good deal, but no - never again. read more

I have been to this place a couple of times and every time I go there they make me wait. When my turn comes and someone else comes at last minute (just because he is friend of one of the guys), they make me wait another 15 to 20 minutes. The last time I was there I simply walked out after waiting over an hour. They have a sign in book but this is all b.s. they don't follow this list. The place is not very clean either. I finally went here for the first time after I heard some of my friends who told me that this place was the best to get a good fade. So I decided to go and get a haircut since its been almost eight months since my last fade and before this I used to get my haircuts for free by my uncle who is also a barber but I decided to start paying for my haircuts for my own sake. Anyway, I went here and the place was already busy with some kids hanging outside wanting a haircut from Tommy only and not from his wife. I actually got my hair faded by his wife and prior to what some people have said about her, shes really good. I had a full head of hair and she faded it the way i wanted it to be. Other than that the cost is only 12 bucks plus I tipped. I'll mostly likely come back in five months or so. read more

Being in the military it's hard finding a good Barber that gives a well blended fade especially when I'm on leave at home for a few days. Hadn't been to the locale for a little over two years, sat right down and sure enough Tommy remembered my face. Been taking my nephew here for years, and we will continue coming in here since it is the best place in the area.

After spending 7 days in the hospital, my hair was looking pretty f'd up so my homeboy that I grew up with took me to Tommy Cuts one day. Tommy gave me one of my first fades that I would religiously maintain from that point on. The man is definitely a pro! Tommy and his family run this business very efficiently and get the job done. As busy as this place gets and no matter how many people are waiting in line, Tommy makes sure you walk out of there nicely lined-up with a perfect fade cut. Tommy's family also do superb jobs when it comes to fades or anything else. I highly recommend Tommy, his son, Johnny or his wife to hook you up! Last time I went here, it was about $12 for a cut. That's pretty good for the work they do! I haven't been able to continue going to Tommy's since I have had to rely on keeping my hair military-style shaved for a while now, but when I get the chance to grow it out I will definitely go to Tommy Cuts for a fade! read more

If you want budget haircut this is the place, my hair stylist she's pretty updated with styles.

The fact that this place is located in a strip mall with decent parking is its only redeeming quality. The floors look as if they are only swept at closing and never scrubbed, the mirrors are dirty, and the counters are all sagging and covered in a rats nest of electrical cords which probably kept everything from sliding off. Their barber shop looked like they didn't care about the place, and my hair cut reflected that attitude, so judge the book by its cover in this case. read more

Had my hair cut here once and asked for 2 inches off ended up with 5 inches off. Plus I asked for layers and they were not symmetrical on each side. I think it was Tommy's wife who did it. Can't go back to find out if someone else is any good! I love my hair too much! read more
