"You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant Walk…read moreright in it's around the back Just a half a mile from the railroad track You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant" (Arlo Guthrie) Alice could easily get anything she wants for her restaurant right here on Progress Lane in Waterbury. Imagine a store as big as a Home Depot that only sells restaurant stuff. It's like a Disneyland full of trays, pots and pans, mixing machines, ice makers, bar equipment, pizza paddles, ovens, fryers, griddles, bar stools, slicers, and pretty much anything you have ever seen in or need for a restaurant. I don't own a restaurant, but I definitely developed a greater appreciation for what it really takes to operate one. Wine glasses, bowls, plates, cutlery, fry baskets, big knives, spatulas, gloves, bowls as big as a witch's cauldron, bathroom signs, dining room chairs and barstools, slotted spoons, whisks, chef clothing, big pans and serving trays, coffee stations, chopping boards, a tortilla press, even French Fry cutting machines. We saw them all. And then there were the huge things like deli showcases and enormous dough mixing machines that reminded me of land locked cement mixers. What a fun time we had wandering the aisles and gawking at everything. I've truly never seen a store like this before. Its open to the public and no membership is needed to gain entry. So what did we buy? We replaced an old plastic one pint measuring cup that was getting impossible to read. The new one ($3.99) is very sturdy and super clear to read. We also bought a nifty 10-cut pie and cake marker ($5.99) that will come in handy on Thanksgiving. We had a blast !!

You can pick up your knives day of on Saturday, with a couple hours of lag time, It's a bit pricey, but the knives came back in great condition and very sharp. The knives we brought in were fairly straight forward, but I appreciated the craftsmanship.

Coming from someone that is allergic to egg whites I don't really own a Whisk for that purpose. I'm familiar with the product from my Mother and Daughter. They're the cooks. I found this store interesting since it's named after a single kitchen utensil. You can order from the company online. I purchase items for my daughter as gifts. After all she bakes for me. I see this as a local business. During the pandemic I find it best to support them by shopping on line. Our Home goods stores in my neighborhood have closed. I'm happy for those of you that live near Whisk. I learned a lot about this cooking utensil from this business. They have a wide selection of other quality products not just whisks. For your information: A Whisk is a cooking utensil used to blend ingredients smooth and to incorporate air into a mixture. The process is known as whisking or whipping. Most Whisks consist of a long, narrow handle with a series of wire loops joined at the end. The wires are usually metal, but some are plastic for use with nonstick cookware. Whisks are also made from bamboo. Those Swedes could make some bamboo whisks! Whisks are commonly used to whip egg whites into a firm foam to make meringue, and to whip cream into whipped cream. Whisks have different shaped loops depending on their intended functions. Since the 19th Century, various mechanical devices have been designed to make whisking more efficient, under the names egg beater and rotary mixer. Until I started looking for a gift I had no idea there are so many varieties of whisks. I have used an egg beater for mashed potatoes! Any serious chef has a wide variety of Whisks in their kitchen. I'm not one anymore. I shop for gifts. This is a one of a kind store. They carry a large selection of merchandise. They sharpen knives too!
