There's actually a hilarious story behind why I went. I was originally supposed to have a date that night, but let's be real: you'd think a 61-year-old man would know better than to take a 47-year-old woman to Dave & Buster's. I canceled the night before, dolled myself up the day of, and decided to take myself out instead. Best decision ever. The joint is dimly lit. But your eyes wind up adjusting. It's got a great vibe. Definitely excellent for a date night. The bartenders here are absolute rockstars. I started with a Painkiller. Even though it's no longer on the menu, they whipped it up for me anyway--and hey, it definitely relieved my pain, lol! Next, I tried a Corpse Reviver just because it had absinthe in it. It was different, but I really enjoyed it. Naturally, I had to finish with my signature drink, a Cosmopolitan, because I am the Black Carrie Bradshaw of Long Island. And it did not disappoint. The eats: I got the charcuterie board--fancy and bougie, just like me--and wrapped up the night with the brownie à la mode for dessert. Drowning my troubles in sweets is a must when the Long Island dating pool is an absolute wasteland, lmao. Did I want to spend my night around teenagers, kids, and skee-ball? HELL NO! I wanted a grown-and-sexy speakeasy vibe, and Artemis delivered. 5/5 stars--would 100% recommend!

The person checking us in was not particularly welcoming, which didn't make the best first impression. What really left a bad taste, though, was the manager's explanation that the two-hour limit is necessary because "turning tables" is how the restaurant makes money. While I understand the business reasoning, hearing it explained that way made the experience feel more transactional than hospitable. The biggest issue is that the time limit actually worked against the restaurant. Rather than staying for another drink and continuing our evening there, we ended up going somewhere else. For me, that defeats the purpose of creating a nice atmosphere if guests are being encouraged to leave before they're ready. Beautiful restaurant, good service from our waitress, but the rigid seating policy and the way it was handled would make me think twice about returning.

I have been to Husk & Vine many times, so I already knew how great their food was, but the wedding menu exceeded our expectations. Gone are the days of the Brickhouse brewery. Now you have a super classy joint that resides right in Patchogue. A place that, I'm reminded by my husband every time we drive through, use to not be so classy. My sister requested that we have her baby shower here because she was such a fan of the food. And she was right. The food is fresh and delicious and featured in a very well thought out menu. Julien was a pleasure to work with during the preparations. Allowing access to the space during not busy times to help us plan our decorations. Day of it was all hands on deck. The bartenders were fast and efficient for a wedding of about 100 guests, which was a huge plus. I did hear from a few guests that some drinks weren't immediately available because they needed time to chill -- totally understandable given the timing and setup. One of the highlights was how they worked within my budget while still delivering great customer service with both food and drinks. I also want to shout out an employee who kept mopping the floor throughout the event due to a leaking AC -- that extra effort didn't go unnoticed and was greatly appreciated. That said, there were a few areas that fell short. For a wedding, timing is crucial, and unfortunately, not all tasks listed in the contract were completed -- including timely arrival, full decoration setup, and breaking down all tables and chairs afterward. These small gaps made things a bit stressful during an already time-sensitive event. My family decorated all tables themselves which caused them to be so stressed out instead of enjoying the whole wedding. I believe with more experience handling weddings specifically, the team will be able to execute more smoothly in the future.
