After a frustrating experience with another company that walked off the job, I called Tomahawk to help us finish what was started. From the first conversation, they were professional, understanding, and incredibly responsive. They came out quickly, provided a very fair quote, and even worked with us on pricing after seeing how stressed we were from the previous situation. That level of empathy meant a lot. We had a massive oak hanging directly over our home, and they made the decision to bring in their crane to remove it safely. Watching the precision and coordination of the crew was honestly like watching a live production -- every team member had a specific role, and they operated like a well-oiled machine. Contracted Tomahawk Tree svc to remove 2 huge trees and one small tree as well as all stumps ground. Sean at Tomahawk Tree was amazing and delivered on every promise regarding difficult, hard to reach Trees with neighbors fencing and other existing trees. The job was difficult, but Tomahawk made it look so simple. The men working are very professional. Put down boards to avoid damage. Very careful yet consistent in every scope of the job. Stump grinding was amazing as well. Stumps were litterally pulverized when completed. Tomahawk had the best pricing vs. Others only looking to gouge the unsuspecting customers. I can honestly say that we are so grateful we found Tomahawk tree and will recommend them to everyone we know from now on. Thank you so much for a job well done. Beware! Believe all of the bad reviews from people on here. Bob Coombs M.O. is to give a lower estimate for tree work than other tree companies to begin with, have you sign his estimated contract, and then come back to you later with lies and excuses that his guys can't do the work or that you did something wrong and then tries to get you to pay more to get the work done. And when you won't pay his new estimate and want to cancel the contract he threatens to sue because of his cancellation clause (even though it is his manipulation from the work to be done originally from the contracted price). Many years ago we paid his $200 cancellation fee just to keep him off of our property for good and stop being harassed by him. He is nuts. We paid another tree professional to do the job and are still with him today. We have moved since that time long ago when we dealt with Bob and I still warn everyone I know about his unethical tree business practices. I would like to share yet another experience. It is probably a one negative out of a hundred positive out there about Tomahawk Tree Service, nevertheless I feel compelled to share. Long story short, I ordered a chip drop. Tomahawk responded and I accepted. This is a free service. Upon delivery at end of April, damages to property have taken place. At first Tomahawk did not respond to my inquiries of the damages, they only responded when they saw their negative ratings on social media. Upon conversations and a wait of six month, the owner Bob decided that we had no contract (true, was through ChipDrop) and I did my own damages to take advantage of his good will and manner. I remind every one I waited six weeks for a resolution. In addition he stated my property is a state of despair... hm... They make damages and bring despair and now they claim I did it? In the end: my two solar lights will not be replaced, my gate pole will not be real stabilized (after truck drove in it), and my 20ft by 20ft area of leveled ground prior to their is so bad eroded that the asphalt road by it is higher by 10", and not to mention the azalea bush they killed in the process.... So, now I am back to social media for buyer be ware and waiting for ChipDrop response and see what their resolution is. read more

My roof was damaged by recent storms. When my insurance agent inspected the roof damage, they gave me a list of trees that were either dead or had dead limbs that needed to be taken down or pruned. I called Tomahawk, they came to my house the next day, new years eve. They did a complete walk around the house and property. I had a quote within an hour. They did an excellent job removing our fallen 130 year old oak tree which was on our hill. The crane operator and the project manager were intelligent and innovative. Our cable line was below the tree, the electric line above and our Japanese Maple very close to the tree. Fortunately everything went well. read more

The experience was great with the sales person but once the crew arrived it was clear how little they actually cared about our property. We had designated areas for limbs and logs to fall, they ignored that. They said they would put mats down to protect our lawn but the equipment driver made little to no effort to stay on them. The logs sat on our lawn for nearly a week when the contract said they would be gone in 3 business days. And to top that all off, when I saw the log pickup crew about to cause more damage and asked for them to call the owner, the owner called the police on ME. Horrible service, they don't care about you or your property. After all that, we canceled the remaining stump grinding service, but they are trying to charge us for it anyway. We have a large tree project & Bob from Tomahawk came out & walked the property with my wife & I. He is incredibly knowledgeable & spent close to an hour educating us about the trees & which ones we should take down (safety of small children, playground area, etc.). He explained their process & made it much easier than I thought it would be. I would definitely recommend Bob & his crew for any tree projects you might have. We will use them in the future. Bob, your explanation is much like your business approach, "The Customer Is Always Wrong", You have 5 Yelp reviews, 4 of which were before I met you and your "Company" so it certainly isn't me "stuffing the complaint box", all the reviews indicate that you and your business do not deserve any repeat business, good thing you are in the Atlanta market as it's huge and you can burn 75% of your customers and still get new work... Keep lowballing on the quote though as you can only win the contract on price, certainly you won't win on personality or charm. In my review of your company I was totally factual, and in 11 months you haven't taken me to court over our interaction as you said you would but I keep waiting as I'd have so much fun with you in any court. Since you've been out to my property I have managed to steer maybe 15 clients and 10 friends away from your business, I know this may not affect your bottom line but it is a testimony to the power of word of mouth. If could give less than 1 I would. My sweet neighbor wanted to have 1 tree removed from her back yard. My husband and I were also having several trees removed at the same time. We went with a different company..... our guys showed up on time and even called us the day before to let us know they could come earlier if we needed them to. They removed everything and cleaned up like they had never been there. Unfortunately my neighbor went with Tomahawk....they cancelled and reschedule with her her twice. she waited 3 days for them to show up. When they did finally get there, they almost doubled the price they had originally told her. And they had come out and looked at before so what changed???? Terrible service! This company has horrible customer service! They don't return calls or follow through on their commitments. We contracted with Tomahawk to remove several tree branched from our property. When i called to find out when they were coming, I was told that we were second on the schedule for the next day (Tuesday). Later that day when I called to see what time they were coming, I was told that they weren't sure and that they would call if they weren't able to make it. I never received a call. The next day when I called to inquire about what happened, I was told they had a big jump the day before and should be able to get to us some time later today.No one ever showed up or called. When I called the next day to ask what happened, I was told someone would call me back in 10 minutes. I received a call hours later with another explanation why they couldn't make it the day before. They said they should be able to serves my house later in the day. I informed them that we no longer needed their service. read more

Tomahawk Tree service came and did tree work on 3 or 4 trees in my yard. The first appointment was cancelled and they came the next day. Their truck caused damage to my lawn and created large divets in the ground/grass. They also knocked down a City of Roswell street sign before leaving. I asked them to come back and was told they would repair the lawn. 2 weeks later we called to find out when they were going to repair and was told there was nothing they could do and it was "part of taking trees down". Had i known there would be lawn damage, I would not have used this service and they would not do anything to fix the problem. Even a $50 discount would have satisfied me as an apology. read more

They came out and quoted me for work on some trees in my front and side yard. The quote seemed fair so we set a time for them to come out. They missed the first appointment with no call to me. I called to arrange a new appointment time, they said 8:30AM on Tuesday, at 1:08PM on Tuesday when their truck arrived they were ready to start when I was then told there would be an addition to the quote by about 25%, I was already upset but I didn't want to waste more time getting a new crew out. When the limbs were cut from the tree some of them were released to fall and damage the surrounding lawn. While cutting the 4th tree one of the branches broke through my fence. I was told that they are not responsible for the fence as they only cover damages to your house. So it cost more to do the job than the quote and they don't cover damages they cause so next time I'll try another business that will stand by their work. read more

I never post about a company, but just experienced and then witnessed Tomahawk Tree Service raise their wood chipper and aim directly at my car. The wood chips pelted my car and luckily the windows were up so the kids did not get hit. I then watched the guys working the chipper motion to another worker that another car was coming. He again raised the chipper and aimed it at the following car so the wood chips pelted that car. So if anyone is on Hightower Rd be careful. And if you are looking to clean up the trees in your yard after this past storm, don't use Tomahawk Tree Service. read more

Tomahawk did an incredible job for us removing over 15 trees from our front yard and grinding stumps. Several of the trees required a crane and therefore extra caution and time, but they still came out on the agreed-upon date and time and finished within a week. All of the workers were very careful with our property; a limb knocked down our mailbox during the work, and Tomahawk bought us a new one and put it up without us having to ask or remind them. The price was also amazing, I couldn't be more pleased. I would definitely recommend Tomahawk and would use them again for any future tree services. read more

All I can say is they provide quality work, communication, customer service and pricing that cannot be beat. I have used Tomahawk twice now for tree trimming, removal, and stump grinding. I'm quite embarrassed to admit this, but I even had to ask them to come out 3 times to requote the most recent work because after the snow storm we had more work to do and then I had to remove a few trees from the list. Mike didn't seem to mind one bit. The work was scheduled quickly and the crew worked all day long. Watching them from the window was something else. I even saw one guy tap a fence post back in place that was leaning out for some time now and we hadn't gotten around to fixing. I realize there are some negative reviews, but I can tell you that I wish all of my contractors were as upfront, honest, and easy to work with as Tomahawk. If nothing else, give them a call and get a quote. Hopefully your experience will be as good as mine has been. read more

I do not recommend Tomahawk Tree Service. I recently had a number of trees on my property trimmed. I took photos of the front of my house the afternoon before the crew came out so that I could assess the difference in the limbs hanging over my house after the work was done. On the day that the crew came out, I worked from home the entire day (mainly to keep my dogs calm during the commotion). I did not leave my house the entire time the crew was there. Mid-way through their work, I heard a loud thud on the roof that sounded like it came from the front of the house. As soon as the crew left, I went outside to check everything out and noticed a dent in the gutter and some crushed/jammed shingles. When I called Bob (the manager) about it, I was told he would call me back in a couple of days when he returned from vacation. We did not hear from him until a week later when he called my husband and claimed that the damage was there when the crew arrived. I am confident this is not true since I was home from the time we took the "before" pictures (with no dent) until the time that the crew left and during that entire time I only heard one loud noise on the roof and it was from a limb that fell while the crew was working. I am not sure if the crew lied to Bob or if Bob lied to us, but I couldn't believe he was unwilling to even consider that his crew was at fault. We decided to have a professional come out and assess the damage. We had scheduled for Bob to come back out to the house after the professional came, so that we could talk with him about it. During this time, Tomahawk charged my debit card (with the information I gave them for the initial deposit - 40% of the total) the remaining amount we owed (60% of the total) WITHOUT my authorization. It turns out that the damage was primarily cosmetic and we were able to fix it ourselves so that it looks okay (still not perfect, but hardly noticeable) and replace the damaged shingle with a spare that we had leftover from our roof replacement last year. Based on this, I canceled the appointment with Bob because I was so tired of dealing with him. Regardless, I found Tomahawk's handling of the situation to be unacceptable and I was very upset that they charged my card without my permission. read more

The quote for removal of the tree was reasonable. One of my neighbors used them for some smaller trees, so I thought I could trust them. Unfortunately, the salesman failed to advise me to move an expensive birdhouse that was off to the side of the tree. Not sure why he doesn't do that. Then the workmen also failed to move it, knowing that it might get hit. Well, the tree landed on the birdhouse and the pole, causing approximately $75 in damage to these two items. I was told that "the owner will not pay for any damage," unless the tree lands on the house. So there goes any savings I might have incurred by using this company. I think in the future I would prefer to use a company that cares more about their customers. read more

Damages include, decimation of 4-5 knock-out rose bushes, damage to drive around building, huge truck, trailer & heavy equipment left for days after 12-31-18 at approx. 0930 (& still present today), damage to good trees, sloppy job with troclodytes running the machinery, laying waste everywhere on our property, in my opinion. Wow, this was a nightmare from the get go. I was quoted on pruning and cutting back 8 trees in my yard, On the day they came ot do the work I was told the price was approximately 35% more as more pruning was required, I told them that I wanted the price I was quoted but they said that the contract I signed said that can charge more at their discretion. I was also told that as they started the job already that I didn't have a choice. I will have a lasting memory of Tomahawk and also lasting marks on part of my side yard where they drove their equipment over the grass creating tire marks about 3 to 4 inches deep. Bob, came out to examine the damage to my yard and first told me that their equipment was never in my yard but when I showed him the video on my cell phone he changed his tune and started yelling at me for being an unreasonable customer. Bob said that he would not pay for or fix the damage caused by his equipment as he stated the ground must have been soft. Yes grass is soft and driving equipment on to it probably will cause an issue but the take away here is don't use Tomahawk unless the tree is accessible from the street and there is nothing they can hit or destroy when cutting the branches. Also go with your gut and if after reading the other reviews here you still want to try the "Tomahawk Adventure" then have at it and if you are not happy then talk to Bob, he'll make you feel happy when you don't have to talk to him anymore. The single star is a gimmie and Tomahawk isn't worth that but I can't choose no stars. read more

I called to ask if they would come give me a quote to haul away a large tree limb and debris that fell during a storm. They said they would send someone that day - no one came. In October, I selected Tomahawk to do major tree removal from my property after my appointment with their representative, Mike Mead. He is definitely an asset for Tomahawk because first impressions are so important in reviewing a new company service. Our business contract started off beautifully. Unfortunately, it did not end the same way. Mike had assured us that there would be total clean up. With debris still on the site, I asked the foreman, "David" to finish cleaning up. I was told that I was too picky and the job was finished. He was also holding my "paid in full check". Damage was done to my neighbor's property and so far they have not received any satisfaction from Tomahawk. They want their landscaper to repair and plant their flower bed. Our property also had damage when the crane backed down our driveway, running over the grass and may have broken our sprinkler pipe. Tomahawk has done nothing to take care of either problem. Referrals always produce the best kind of business. Even though I have no intention of bashing any company, based on Tomahawk's lack of finishing the job by correcting the damage that was done to my neighbor's property and mine, I will not be able to recommend their company. The situation could have been resolved so easily and everyone would have been singing Tomahawk's praises. Unfortunately, after all of this time, that has not happened. read more

FANTASTIC SERVICE FROM BEGINNING TO END! I do not share the same experiences as the other posters, so let me begin with my unsolicited review. Had several large (very large) trees on the hill behind the house and called 6 companies for quotes. Three of them never bothered to call back or their numbers were disconnected, one answered "hello" and never called back for business. Americut came out for quote after blowing off two appointments, then showing up 3 hours late. Their plan was to haul away 75,000 pounds of tree trunks on a bobcat across the neighbors front lawn. Tomahawk set appointment for 12:15pm the next day, and the sales guy arrived on-time and neatly dressed. After reviewing the work needed, he politely said that the job was bigger than he was comfortable quoting (appreciated the honesty!) and said that the owner would come by the next day. Bob arrived and looked for ways to minimize costs but that the best solution would be a small crane. The cost differential was only a couple hundred dollars but worth keeping friendly with the neighbor. The crane guy came out to survey and decided that we would not be able to level the crane so Bob came back with his "go-to" crane guy Glenn. They decided that the larger 70-ton crane would be best and Tomahawk honored their original quote. The crew arrived on schedule and got setup. Shortly afterwards, a monstrous crane pulls up and set up in the front yard. I swear the crane boom was 200 feet long when extended. Methodically, 7000 pound chunks of trees were lifted with the greatest precision over 100 feet in the air over the house. They were gently placed in the street and the crew dismantled and chipped the branches within minutes. The trunks were stacked in neat piles in the driveway by the crane operator. This continued for 7 hours until all the trees were cut, lifted, cleaned and stacked. Another truck arrived the same day to haul off what they could (there was a LOT of wood!) and we were told they would return in the morning. First thing the next day, the Tomahawk truck showed up and picked up the rest of the wood. Most importantly, they left NO mess in the driveway, street, or lawn. I am one of the cheapest men on the planet and have had many trees cut in the past. It was a pleasure to spend this money and I thought it was a superb value. The quality of work was exceptional, crew most courteous and respectful and they did not leave until the job was done and clean. I will gladly call Tomahawk (and ONLY Tomahawk) the next time I need tree service. After I signed up to have a large limb removed from my tree, I had some difficulty setting up the date for the work to be done. I called Mike, the salesman who sold me the service, twice and he never returned my calls. I finally called the main office and they said they could do the work the next day. Let it be known that Tomahawk Tree Service out of Roswell is a scam. They are extremely unprofessional and WAY overpriced. They were asked to quote tree chipping and cutting for two fallen trees. Other companies quoted around $700 or less....they quoted $1200. We refused their service and now they want to charge a 20% cancellation fee for work THEY DIDN'T DO. They then referred to the back of a contract that wasn't shown or explained when signing for the quote. They make you unknowingly commit to overpriced work when you haven't even received a quote yet. You essentially have no opportunity to decline. The manager (Bob) said that he is not a majority shareholder and has no authority to revoke the cancellation fees, despite what the employees say. The real owner lives in Venezuela. Bob attempted to settle the dispute by requiring me to pay the bill first (for work that wasn't performed) and then he would personally attempt to cut the remaining tree himself (approximately 7 cuts for $240) IF he could find a chainsaw and IF he felt that he was capable. He was very clear that he could not personally comingle the company contract or employees with this personal favor and that nothing could be put in writing, but that was the only way he would settle the dispute out of court. When I asked him to put it in writing he refused saying that his promise was his bond and that if I couldn't take a verbal promise that I "had trust issues." When I inquired about liability insurance and consequences for failure to complete the work he became agitated and stated that he was no longer interested in honoring his previous promise. He made mention that his company receives these complaints all the time. I then disclosed that the conversation was being recorded and he became belligerent and hung up. There is something very wrong when you receive conflicting information among employees. Anyone who makes verbal commitments (they later recant) to extort payments for unperformed services should be exposed for what they are. read more

From my recent experience with Tomahawk Tree Service, my opinion is that it is a very shady company and is unethical when it comes to business. I too had asked for a Free Estimate and received a quote to sign. After signing the quote they now use their all-encompassing "Additional Terms of Contract to Perform Services" on the backside as a way to trap you. Do not sign anything they hand to you! After finding a reputable company at nearly half the price despite the 50% off "deal" from Tomahawk, I received the cancellation notice. I called (several calls until I spoke to someone) and was given a song and dance about the owners are located in Venezuela (even though their website boasts "locally owned and operated") and they will not cancel anything. Bob (who is the manager, I suspect) even told me about a church that signed the quote and they too were required to pay a cancellation fee....A CHURCH!! In order to avoid going to court or dealing with a collection agency I paid a substantial cancellation fee for work that was never done. It was supposed to be a Free Estimate! What makes it worse is I was a repeat client of theirs and I was referred to them by a friend of the local manager. I have spent close to $5K in the past 4 years with them and I was still threatened with legal action and that I would be turned over to collections if I did not pay their cancellation fee. Furthermore, after explaining this in a letter and personally delivering the letter (and check) to their office, I did not even get so much as a phone call or letter in return, only the cashed check from my bank. This company and the person who owns it is a scam artist in my opinion. There are far more honest tree service companies with integrity in the Atlanta area. My neighbors are currently using Tomahawk to remove trees from their yard. I have had my neighbors tree laying in MY YARD for 2 days now! And on top of it, they crushed all of my azaleas that were on my property. I left a voice message for the owner notifying that these azaleas need to be replaced at their expense. A friend of mine at work recommended Tomahawk to me because the Owner Bob was a neighbor of hers and she knew they offered reduced prices for their services. Since tree cutting and removal is so expensive I thought this was worth looking into. I should have read these reviews before calling them. I'm having a simular problem with them as Christina did in 2013. They sent their crew out to cut down 2 trees in the front yard and 1 in the back. The guys backed their big truck with a chipper on the back through a double drive through gates that was very narrow. They must have backed into one of the gates because they broke one of the gates. When I called Mike and Bob about it they made me feel like I was a liar. They said that the guys who cut down the trees said they were no where near the gates. That is not true because when I got off of work and stopped by (This is a rental house I own.) I saw the truck parked in backyard and even spoke to the driver and tree climber. This guy was smoking a cigerette which brings me to another issue. The guys cut down the trees in the front yard on Monday but came back Tuesday to drop the one in the back yard. When I went by on Tuesday the neighbor told me they had been there that day. Nobody else had been at the house on Tuesday. When speaking to the neighbor, she asked me what was burning in the yard. I turned around to find a plastic trashcan that was sitting under the overhang of the garage on fire. She ran and got a bucket of water to throw on it. It turns out that the tree climber threw a lit cigerette in the trashcan before leaving. Had I not stopped by that day and the neighbor not been outside speaking to me and noticing there was a fire, there is no telling what other damage would have occurred. I told Mike and Bob about the carelessness but they did not seem too concerned. As for my gate.... After reading all the reviews I do not expect they will fix my gate. Bob told me he would have to go by and look at it but so far has not. I expected to get good results from Bob since my friend told me he is a nice guy (She never did business with him.)but instead he was not very nice on the phone and made me feel like he was calling me a lier. Oh, Mike did tell me that they would knock $50.00 off of the cost (I don't expect that would have happened anyway.) but then I found out that the gate and repairs would cost me much more than that. That's when he turned it over to Bob. I even told them that we would save them money by replacing the gates ourselves providing they purchased the gates. I guess I will go ahead and eat the cost of replacing the gates and tell them what it cost. If they come back and give me a refund for the cost of repairs or do anything at all to make things right I will provide an update to this review but from what these other reviews show and from my experience so far, I don't expect anything will happen. I am very disappointed in this company and would not recommend them to anyone else. They do not know anything about customer service and do not take responsibility for their crew's mistakes or carelessness. read more
