I feel really lame for reviewing a grocery store of all things. But I had a visit today to Tom Thumb that I feel I must share with everyone. So this place is my guilty pleasure. I go to Whole Foods to be all earthy and healthy...but then I come here right before midnight to buy frozen taquitos and Bluebell ice cream. The environment used to feel even more grungy because there are always boxes and rubbish just lying around. As it turns out, they've been slowly undergoing huge renovations. First my glamour magazines got relocated to a tidy shelved area, then the pharmacy got transplanted quarterways across the store, and it's starting to look kind of spiffy. I even overheard the cashier talking about how they're going to add a pet store. What?! I never would've thought...but apparently someday soon I can no longer be ashamed to enter Tom Thumb. (Also it's just plain fun to eat kosher even though you're not.) read more

I get my prescriptions filled here. Today I needed my BP medication filled. The lady put me on hold 6x over 16 mins. I was able to drive to the store by the time they took my call. I was in line by then. I spoke to the manager and explained to her what happened. She made excues for her. I never thought I'd be here. Every other review of mine on Tom Thumb is me badmouthing them for higher prices and scamming on old people, but after one too many visits to the Kroger off Forest and Greenville, I decided I'd had enough of that hoodness. So, here I am telling you why the higher prices are worth it. The store is clean, has a large selection, and everyone is friendly from the cashiers to the cart boys. The customers are more mature, well to do, neighborly people. I see why people shop here. You don't have to deal with long lines or people in their pajamas. Save yourself from wondering what the world has come to at Walmart and creepy Krogers and just pay the few extra dollars at Tom Thumb. My life's a lot better now. Thanks Tom. read more

My neighborhood Tom Thumb does a much better job than this one. I needed deodorant and dinner, that's all. I found the women's deodorant pretty quick, but the men's deodorant was not in the same aisle. I thought I was missing something as I looked again and again. I asked another shopper if she thought it was fishy to separate the deodorants, and she said "yes." She couldn't find the men's deodorant either, and then we both figured out that it was in a different aisle, adjacent to the one we were in. Ok, my bad, maybe this isn't such a crime and quickly got over my annoyance. I proceeded to get an advertised deal with Right Guard, and bought 2 with the promise of having them be reduced to $2.99. Moving on...where's the deli? At the deli, a customer and the butcher were verbally duking it out over Bibi and Obama. Somewhat annoying with their loud voices (at least the customer's, the butcher was much more serene), but I can live with it. Shucks, I was amused and wanted to jump right in, but resisted the temptation to get home and get dinner started. I chose the stuffed salmon in the deli for dinner. Nice selection, nice guy, no problem. And then I went to check out. I only had my deodorant, the salmon and green beans. Even though my card was registered correctly, the deodorants showed up at regular price and not at the sale price. When I mentioned something to the cashier, he said, "well, that's not my problem." And this was the line that led to one star. Look, I know this guy was just trying to get through his shift, but when one of your customer's has a problem, that means YOU have a problem. This is the very basis of good customer service, IMHO. Therefore, this store fails the customer service standard. I paid full price for my goods so as not to inconvenience the shoppers behind me. I don't blame the guy, really; to me, this attitude starts with management. And perhaps this review will give management a problem. read more

Tom Thumb is a good market with a lot of products. Service is good and products are fresh. I am giving Tom Thumb 3 stars and not 5 because they are expensive. You can shop in other stores for less especially when you buy fruits and vegetables. read more

A little difficult to get in and out of this location, but it seems I'm there everyday. Is it weird that I grocery shop for one meal at a time, a little European eh? I have a tiny freezer that consist of a huge bag of ice mostly. Look I'm no fan of Tom Thumb and their overpriced groceries, but this location is "signature", which translates to "we have the right to charge these ridiculous prices because the store is clean". Seriously this store is very clean, huge fresh produce and prepared foods section. A separated section strictly for organic foods. 50 eff'ing types of hummus for some reason, great meat counter all fresh no frozen chunks of fish. Matter of fact I had a huge sausage stuffed portobello and stuffed chicken breast from their meat counter recently, turned out great. There was that one time I found an open purse with a wallet sticking out sitting in the basket next to my car. Then I was presented with the task of walking through a store with an open purse to the customer service counter while everyone stared at me in disgust like a damn thief. It's hard being a good Samaritan. I love going here, hate the intersection where it's located. read more

Tom Thumb gets a general lambasting--not just this location. You have to use their "cookie card" to get what is a normal price elsewhere. Stuff is marked up sometimes 100% over the going rate elsewhere. You think you are getting a deal? Think again. read more

Love my neighborhood Tom Thumb! It's just the right size! It's big enough to carry everything I need but small enough to get in and out of quickly! The staff is always helpful and friendly and they are never out of any of the items I come in for, unlike some grocery stores!! I am giving this store a 2 simply because of the pick up service. I have shopped here weekly since moving nearby over 3 years ago, but the pickup is horrendous. I tried to come by over two hours after it was supposed to be ready and it still was not. And this is far from an isolated incident. I blame this entirely on management. How hard is it to manage your orders so you can get it done in time? Whole Foods does that. And that is where is will be going from now on. read more

Store 3637 (Campbell and Coit) I hold GA ID and a government issued ID. I went to this store (located in Dallas, Texas) to shop and purchased a pack of beer. The person who was in charge of the Cashers Rachel Tunstall refused to accept either one of my IDs. She was rude and did not have any explanations as of why she cannot take my ID. I will NEVER buy anything from Tom Thumbs not because I could not buy a pack of beer but because of the crappy customer service and rude Assistant manager. read more

I shop here often because it is so convenient. By often, I mean 3-4 times a week. Yes, only 2 stars. But why do you continue to shop here when you clearly don't think it's great? Convenience and price. The convenience factor for me is hard to beat. Whole Foods is across the street but I can't justify spending 2-3x as much for the exact same items. Yes, whole foods has other items too, and I usually end up going there to get any specialty stuff, but the necessities and the regular items can be had at Tom Thumb for a fraction of the price. Natural Grocers is also across the street but that place is not worth walking in to. The 2 stars has nothing to do with the friendly staff or the cleanliness of the store. They are both top notch. Side story: I did have one issue a while back with an irate employee who made absurd accusations about a fellow coworker of hers. I was next to the accused and the manager asked me some questions about the situation. Someone was off their meds. The butcher counter is very small and the meat quality is not the best but the employees here have been friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, for being so huge, this store lacks diversity. The produce section, while somewhat large, carries the same boring stuff and the quality is not terrific for the sometimes high prices. Oh and, for some reason, this store no longer carries fresh ginger. At least, for a long time (6 months?) it was not available - or so I was told. Update: I bought fresh ginger recently here, thank god. Maybe I'm spoiled by central market on the produce front. Also on diversity - you'll only find the big name items here. The bread section is HUGE but is made up of only name brand garbage. Come on, where are the local bakeries represented? I guess they don't want to compete with the lackluster in-house bakery here. Chips and Snacks? Only frito lay - but think every possible bag of chips frito lay produces, it's here. Another major complaint, tortillas. This store only carries mission tortillas. Seriously? That's it? That's not even a tortilla. This point infuriates me and is really the bane of my 2 stars. They might have one other brand but it too is a mass chain brand. I'd really love to see this market start to carry more local items, especially fresh items like dairy/bread/produce/meat as that is mostly what I buy. Local, in my experience, has always better when it comes to the non-processed stuff. Bottom line: I'll continue to shop here but I'll continue to wish for greener pastures. Oh and when I say cheap, I know that I might sound like a fool. This store is still more expensive than Kroger/Albertsons, and I know that if I want fresh produce for great prices, I should drive up to Richardson to any supermercado where produce just came off the truck that day and is literally 1/5th the cost of any chain US grocery store. Despite it's small size, I've always been able to find what I need at this location. This isn't my neighborhood store as I only frequent it when I need something going to or from work. The following experiences won it 5 stars: 1. floral dept- very nice and friendly. They arranged an on the spot bouquet for me and made it travel safe in the box to prevent the flowers from falling over or risk water spillage in the care. 2. good craft beer selection. This is the first place I was able to get my hands on some Not Your Father's Root Beer. 3. Bakery dept- I needed a last minute cake but didn't like what was already out. So the lady there made me a new chocolate cake with whipped frosting and fudge on top for my friend's birthday. The birthday girl absolutely loved the cake, as did I. read more

First the good, the store is clean and employees were very friendly. However, that's where the positives end. For a store this size choices are really lacking. most of the items offered are fatty, processed foods. I brought a salad for lunch, it's was sort of dark in there, and it looked decent. However, when i opened it at the office i hated it: Lettuce leafs looked wilted almost brown, tomatoes were super soft and the whole thing just wasn't fresh. Delivery was a HORRIBLE experience. Over 2/3rds of the items weren't dropped off. I called immediately and was told they have no way of contacting the van, which was wrapped in the Tom Thumb logo. They offered to "maybe" redeliver the items tomorrow. I was able to get a refund of the items that weren't delivered, but I wasted so much more time than if I actually went to the store - and now I have to go in person to get the items they didn't deliver. I can't wait until Central Market reopens in our neighborhood!! read more

I went in tonight after work and bought something for dinner and got to the car and noticed I was missing some bags went back in and looked and ask the lady in the check out area and she said I didn't so I get home and unpacked and I was missing my ground meat I was going to make dinner with and also bacon and toll house cookies Went back to the grocery store told the The manager he looked at the camera and said oh no you got all your bags and left... If I had all my bags I would've had dinner tonight cooked but instead I'm out $15 and had to go to another Tom Thumb Close by my house to buy more ground meat... I'm calling corporate tomorrow and I'm filing a complaint and I'm going to get my food I purchased or my money back. And the manager was so unprofessional And rude I will never go back to this Tom Thumb ever again !!! And I see also most of their reviews are bad .. need new management desperately!! read more

Every time I go to this store, the staff are helpful, friendly, and personable. I've had great experiences with the deli, the bakery, the produce department, the hot foods counter, and the meat department. I've been there on weekends when wineries are there offering wine tastings, too. The employees are happy to stop and ask what you're looking for and what you want -- I mean full eye contact and engaged body language. I suspect they really care. This location has plenty of kosher options, too. read more

I come to this Tom Thumb because I need a kosher deli and it's the closes from Ft Worth. The store has a big selection of Kosher but the butcher at the deli is grumpy. Every time I go he is like that. Please liven up a little to your customers. Geese I just drove 35 min to get her and to pretty much be ignored. I would be so Happy if you would put a kosher deli in one of your stores in Fy Worth. I can guarantee you that you would have a abundance of customers as well!! read more

I'm usually no fan of Tom Thumb, but this one is quite the exception. I stopped in to grab a few items last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. Their bakery section is wow! Everything looks so delish and is very reasonably priced. They also have quite a big beer and wine section. You can now see what the few items were that I went in here for. I also noticed they have a really big kosher food section if that is something you are needing. The location is super convenient, not too far from the tollway. There were no lines at all. The self check out was a breeze, unlike some stores..ahem kroger, ahem walmart. OH and I don't live in Dallas county & forget about the new baggage fee..I totes forgot to bring my shopping totes. If you ever need Kosher baked goods, this is a great store to stop at. They have an entire Kosher bakery section, as well as prepackaged (but bakery baked) dessert items - chocolate and cinnamon babkas, chocolate and cinnamon rugelach, chocolate pareve chewy cookies, regular style pareve chocolate chip cookies, cakes, everything! The store itself is large and contains all of the things any ordinary Tom Thumb would contain, but a bit more expanded. Their wine section has a good mix of the more pricey (Heitz cellars) and cheaper (barefoot) varieties. Given how far out of the way the store is for me, I probably won't drive all the way over to it just to grocery shop, but I will definitely be back to gather food gifts for the next Jewish holiday party I get invited to! read more

This grocery store, for a standard grocery store, is the bomb. It is not Central Market, but there is a Whole Foods across the street if you want to grab your "earthy" products. However, this is the cleanest, most well-stocked (except Sundays), and friendliest grocery store I have been to in Dallas. It throws some people off because it is called the Tom Thumb Kosher Market. However, it is a regular grocery store with an aisle or two of kosher foods, since it is near a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. The only thing that is lacking is the seafood department. They have standard seafood, but I sure love those pre-made crabcakes at HEB or Central Market. They have organic meats and products, a health concious aisle and soy products. There is even a Starbucks inside. This Tom gets two thumbs up. read more

This is a really nice Tom Thumb. It is not a very large location - there is only one main entrance/exit to the entire store - but it looks big on the inside. The produce is always fresh and they have a kosher deli. The store is always calm - never loud music that makes you want to get out. It's not as quiet as a library, but it is quiet for a grocery store. I don't think I've ever heard a screaming child in there. The location is mostly patronized by 30-somethings and up. Everyone who works there is friendly, patient and professional. This is a really unique location. During the holidays, they had a giant lit Christmas tree display at one entrance to the parking lot and on the other end, and a large Menorah on the other entrance to the lot. This store was a pleasant surprise. I usually shop at the Whole Foods, Natural Grocer, or Central Market in this area, but I can see myself coming here more often for general grocery shopping. I was honestly blown away at the vast selection offered at this store. They have a place where you can grind your own nut butters for petes sake! They have a nice looking bakery, cheese section & beer & wine comparable to the other gourmet grocery stores. I was impressed by the selections from the kosher meat market (1 pound of grass fed was on sale for 4.49!) Score! Also I noticed many of the packaged deli items were uncured(nitrate free). I'm not sure about this store being friendly. The cashier didn't even acknowledge me when it was my turn for him to scan my items. I didn't even get a hi, how are you. This Tom Thumb is very small so you won't find all your grocery items here if you're super selective. If you want your basic milk, bread, eggs and cereal, you won't have an issue finding those items. Double check the dates on dairy products. Most items expire soon. Parking can be difficult to find because of the other retail stores nearby in the shopping complex. I would skip this place and go to a larger Tom Thumb, Sprouts or Kroegers. read more

We purchased a basket of groceries today. There was no help at the front to help bag the groceries. I told them I was going to need help loading my car. The checker paged 5 times to get someone to the front to help. I complained to the on duty manager of the no help. She said I'm busy elsewhere and didn't realize the problem. Either she is a lousy manager as she is not staying on top of the customer needs or she is too lazy to have the responsibly. Very disappointed. This has happened before there. If there was another handy alternative I would shop there. read more

REVIEW FOR THEIR BAKERY DEPARTMENT I stopped in here to order a holiday cake that I saw on display. The cake looked too good to pass up the week before when I had stopped by for a quick purchase. Upon first glance, I was impressed at the way the cake looked - the colors, icing, and decoration. They were able to make the cake with just a day's notice (and during the busy holiday season), so kuddos to them! The cake was half chocolate and half vanilla with buttercream frosting (def wouldn't recommend if you were watching your diet). The cake was pretty decent as far the tastes goes, but I could tell that more than one slice would be too much calories and sugar for me. Although I have had better cakes, this one was very affordable and had seemed to please all the kiddos. Prices were VERY affordable. Probably the cheapest prices I've seen for a two-tiered cake which was one of the main reasons why I ordered the cake. I can't wait to come back and order more baked goodies from Tom Thumb. P.S. Groceries here is sort of expensive, but they are located in an easy to find shopping strip right near the bank and the UPS store. read more

Great location! Easy in and out shopping. Not a big location it's a lot smaller than most Tom Thumb but it's my go to when I just need something quick. Or those times that you forgot to bake something for your potluck and need to grab something before getting on the tollway! Lol it happens. 5 stars because this Tom Thumb has the biggest inventory of Haagen Daz's ice cream in stock. I have been going across the whole city looking for the Haagen Daz's Green Tea ice cream. Whole food's, Kroger. and Walmart did not have it. Feeling dejected and sad, i was driving back home until i spotted this Tom Thumb. I would give the store five stars for selection and one star for high prices. We used to shop at this Tom Thumb all the time but we have found that their prices are almost always higher for name brand packaged or bottled products and for perishables of comparable quality then their competitors (with the exception of Whole Foods, of course!). Hence the three star rating because of the price to value ratio. If you want one stop shopping and don't mind paying a premium, it's probably your best bet. But if you're willing to go to several locations you can either save money or get higher quality for the same item. We have even found it worth driving to Kroger's and or Sam's for most shelf items because of the price differences. For fresh fruits and vegetables, we tend to drive to Sprouts. And for fresh fish, we tend to buy from Central Market when they have sales. read more

On 8/6/18 I had groceries delivered. Several bags of groceries were not delivered. After a lengthy hold I went through the items with cust serv agent. Since numerous items were missing I requested a refund and told them that they could come pick up what was delivered. She stated that I'd be issued a refund of $87.78 within 10 business days. In addition, she stated that she'd credit my Tom Thumb account w/ $50 should use the service again. I'm 50 yrs old, disabled, survived 2 cancers, & living w/ brain tumor. Grocery delivery should not be this much of a hassle. Missing items, damaged items, out of stock items, always something wrong with each delivery. Trying to reach cust serv takes forever. Currently 80 minute hold time! I was promised a refund and Tom Thumb needs to do as promised. read more
